We’ve been inundated with requests from people wanting to know how to audition for the X Factor in 2010. Here’s what you need to know:
Age limit
The minimum age will again be 16. This won’t be lowered no matter how many people beg and plead – European working time regulations mean that those under 16 wouldn’t be allowed to perform in the new two-show format.
Categories
The categories are expected to be the same as last year – Groups, 25s and Over, Girls and Boys. There is always a shortage of good groups auditioning, so if your aim is to make it to the final 12 it might be worthwhile forming a group rather than going it alone.
Locations
Provisionally the locations for the auditions are: Cardiff, London, Manchester, Glasgow, Belfast. This has not been confirmed and is subject to change.
To apply as a soloist please fill out the form here, for groups please sign up here.

when will the forms online be in then ? please hurry as i am getting my mum one for her birthday

no its more than that its about 3 auditions singing to the producers then you get to sing to judges thats if your picked it all up to how yoiu look and what you dress like and if you look the part also if you get thru first auditions then you have to go back the very next day and be dressed the same and bring who you have with you day before its all a con the xfactor ive been told all my life thaty i have the xfactor and a amazing voice dont be pulled in to it thats all im saying

there are two auditions before the television judges infront of producers wich have no clue about music i used to work for them .the production auditions give about 40 seconds to prove you can sing and talent really doesnt have anything to do with it its just dont to physical attractiveness or if u are really crap you get through but before you get the chance for youre 40 seconds of singing you are stood in the cold doing camera shots for a minimum of 8 hours the longest audtion wait was 15 hours so be prepared and practice practice practice and if you no a friend thats going to audition but its an ok singer then tell them not to bother its allot harder than u think and if u think the show is a chance of giving less priviledged people a shot then think again its just exploiting desperate singers to make mass profit and sorry to say this but think posative but prepare yourself for the worst because its more likely that u will get hit by a double decker driven by a camel than winning (unless you no how to minipulate the press and are prepeared to take part in the lowest of low publicity stunts) good luck xoxoox

When the audition dates/venue are finalised it will be published on xfactor website – dont hold your breath waiting on a reply – simply sjow up on the day, they dont ask for letter or anything – trust me been there done that – its a waste of money/time + effort!!!!

Comment by Samantha — Monday, 1 March, 2010 @ 21:25
I made an application on Friday, I’m actually scared and even though I’m confident with my song choice, its weird knowing that I can sing; sometimes I just end up crying, that can’t be good.
I’m a very patient person, I attend to a clinic of busy, screaming babies; Simon and Co will be a breeze; lol.
Waiting in the queues won’t be hard as long as you have a good book and even better music, maybe bring some food, popcorn and water. This dream will be a reality by virtue of my efforts either through the X-factor or independent labels.

hi ive just applied for the x factor this year…i understand the process of the two or three auditions you have to go through before your in with a chance of seeing the actual judges but IF you you get to sing in front of Simon etc is this done in the old fashioned way with no music, in a room with just the judges behind the desk or is it now done on a stage with music of your choice?
Also when are the auditions planning to take place? What month?
Comment by Jay — Monday, 8 March, 2010 @ 11:30

I had no idea that you had to go through all of this just to get an unlikely chance in front of the judges. I’ve been wanting to apply for the X Factor for so many years now and I think in spite of all the negative things I’m hearing about the auditions, I want to go for it next year. What have I got to lose really!

Does Simon cowell not posess any shirts. sitting on the panel at live auditions in your vest is not only insulting to viewers, but it shows a lack of respect for the female panelllists who are alwasys imaculately turned out and even Louis always looks smart and the contestants who have spent weeks putting together their outfits for the audition of their lives. If i was Simon’s mother I would be so dissapointed as I am sure she taught him respect and how to dress from a young age. Acting like a petulant teenager is not an attractive quality in a man!!!
Comment by Brenda Waning Fan — Saturday, 28 August, 2010 @ 17:25
I don’t know why the judges procrastinated so much about Tom Richards audition: he has the whole package: youth, good looks, a smile that would melt any girl OR woman’s heart be they besotted teens or doting grannies ( like me ), an AMAZING voice ( regardless of what Ridiculous Lott or Ludicrous Cole say),and he sang the script song brillianly. X Faxtor couldn’t go wrong with this lad, ‘cos in my book, an adoring female fan contingent, is a more formibale force than just about any other; possessing the kind of fanatiscism, that even Simon Cowell can’t stand agaisnt. It was complete cr*p to say that he seemed contrived_ the only thing contrived on the X Fator is the ridiculous play acting between the judges_ no doubt it’s deliberately contrived between themselves to add a bit of interest and to whip up an indignant audeince who know full well that they’ve just heard a superb perfromer; but it’s not fair to the poor contestantwho’s standing there with their heart in their mouth, to have their performance picked to peices just to make the show more interesting. The lad played a blinder. Give him the credit he deserves.
