Simon Cowell Signs 3 Year X Factor deal

We know many of you were concerned over stories there might be no X Factor next year – you can all breathe a sigh of relief, because it’s been confirmed there will be!

X Factor will be returning in 2011 in its usual autumn to Christmas slot, despite plans to launch X Factor USA. It is thought that Simon may remain as a judge, although it has not been announced exactly how he will juggle this with his work on the American version of the show.

Confirming X Factor until the end of 2013, ITV boss Peter Fincham said “I’m delighted that our viewers can continue to enjoy them on ITV over the next three years”.

No X Factor 2011?

There’s speculation that there will be no X Factor next year, at least in the UK.

This is because the X Factor is set to launch in the US September of next year, and Simon Cowell is anxious to ensure that he can concentrate his full attention on that.

The show would instead be shifted forward by six months, starting in March 2012 and the next March ever year subsequently.

The move would also mean that the X Factor winners single would no longer be vying for the Xmas number one – a feat Joe McElderry famously failed to reach last year.

Louis Walsh Is ‘Too Busy’ to do X Factor USA

Louis Walsh has pre-empted the lack of any offers for him to judge on the possible X Factor USA series by saying “I’ve got enough on”.

X Factor USA, which is due to launch on the Fox network from January 2011, has got Louis’ seal of approval though:

“I think The X Factor would be the biggest show on television anywhere. I think if Simon [Cowell]‘s involved it will be. He wants to be the best, he wants to be the biggest, and he will be.”

Louis later admitted that there was little chance of him being a judge on X Factor USA even if he wanted to be, saying “I haven’t even been asked”.
