It’s official. Chico has pushed Madonna off the top of the charts to claim the number one position for “It’s Chico Time”. He also managed to beat the Pussycat Dolls to the top of the charts, with their new release entering the charts at number two.
Not bad for an ex goat herder/stripper who was once told by Simon Cowell on The X Factor that his performance “was so awful that it was good!”
Chico fans will now have to wait and see if this is just a one hit wonder or if there is yet more to come.
Since “It’s Chico Time” was released on Monday, the single has been selling so well that according to retailers at HMV it is actually outselling Maddonna’s current number one single “Sorry” making it a strong contender for topping the charts this weekend.
For Chico, it’s a dream come true: “I’m really enjoying what I’m doing and so what if I’m not the best singer out there? So what if I’m not the best dancer in the world? As long as I can go out there and make somebody smile after a hard week in work, my job’s done. It’s the best feeling the world.”
The moment that all Chico fans have been waiting for is almost here. Chico’s eagerly anticipated debut single “It’s Chico time” will now be released in February. Chico has just signed a record deal with Sony BMG and has said “The whole thing has been unbelievable. I’m absolutely loving every minute of it, and looking forward to releasing the single at last.”
For all those Chico fans who can’t wait to get their hands on the Chico Time single read on…. Chico has been forced to delay the release of his single “It’s Chico Time” until after Christmas in order to allow the winner of the show to release their single first.
Said Chico “It would be nice to strike while the iron’s hot, but it doesn’t matter if it’s January. Everyone knows it’s Chico time.”
The X Factor winner will be revealed in just 11 days time, on 17 December and their CD will be rushed into the shops for December 21. The four remaining contestants: Jouney South, Andy, Shayne and Brenda have all recorded their version of The X Factor Christmas single which is reportedly called “That’s My Goal”.
