Brenda Edwards, who as we all remember was the last female standing in last years X Factor, spoke to GMTV this morning about how so much has been happening for herself and all the other X Factor contestants since the last series ended.
Said Brenda “It’s been a year already, there’s been so much happening for me. I’ve been living the dream in the West End in “Chicago” at the Cambridge Theatre.”
She said that she is going to be watching with “eager anticipation to see what happens this year” in X Factor 2006 and said that many contestants seem to audition because they want to meet the judges.
When speaking live on GMTV yesterday morning about staring in the hit musical Chicago, Brenda, who came fourth in last year’s X Factor, took time to reflect on what it was like to get so far in the X Factor series last year.
She also spoke about how recently, people had been coming up to her in the street who were inspired by her, and want to achieve something and have received their audition dates for X Factor 2006. Brenda’s advice to any wannabe singing sensations out there who want to star in the next X Factor show is to just “go out there, be yourself and have fun.”
Lovely Brenda Edwards, the soul diva star of last years X Factor show is due to make her West End debut in the hit musical Chicago.
She has signed up for the role of Mama Morton and will star on stage alongside Bonnie Langford. The 36-year-old mother of two, from London, who post-poned her honeymoon to audition in The X Factor last year now follows in the footsteps of Gaby Roslin and Alison Moyet who have also played the part of the prison matron in the past.
Speaking after her defeat, soul diva Brenda said: “I am feeling on top of the world, I really am.” Although she has also revealed to the Daily Mirror that she feels her exit was due to female
voters’ preference for “cute young guys.” She said “It’s definitely to do with there being so many women fans. You have a lot of cute young guys and they are far more likely to be voted for. That’s just the way it is, so I wasn’t surprised I went out.”
But Brenda assures us it’s not the last we’ll see of her “I hope to release a record. Now I’ve had a taste of fame, I want more. Sharon is absolutely lovely and has promised me things.”
Sharon said “We’ve had two offers for great musicals already for Brenda to star in, all she has to do is choose which one she wants to do and every door is open for Brenda now, we love Brenda.”
Brenda says that she is gonna be at the final, cheering the rest of the guys on and that she is “rooting for every single on of them”.
