Matt Cardle set for number 1?

Matt Cardle’s first single, When We Collide is apparently set for the top of the charts on Saturday, after selling almost 170 000 copies in its first two days on sale. That is more than three times the second placed single, What’s My Name? by Rihanna.

The original Biffy Clyro version of the track, entitled Many Of Horror [When We Collide] is also set to make a re-entrance in the top 10. The band broke their silence about the X Factor cover on Australian radio, saying “The whole thing’s a bit surreal. We think it’s all quite funny”.

Matt Cardle responded, saying “I know there are some Biffy fans that are like, ‘What have you done to that song?’ It’s a great song. I’m hoping that I’ve done it justice.”

Matt Cardle: The X Factor Saved Me

Matt Cardle, whose X Factor winner’s single is released tomorrow, has said that the X Factor ‘saved him’.

In an interview with the Sun newspaper, Matt said that he was “a rebel, drifting about having a laugh and a drink with mates. I never went mental but I was stupid.” His family feared for his future after he failed two college courses, but Matt failed to heed their warnings.

“I was like any young kid just out having a laugh. One night I was with someone who smashed something up. In the grand scheme of things it was pathetic. I got nicked for being drunk and disorderly and spent a night in a cell, but it was a joke. We were just stupid idiots. But X Factor changed my life.”

“Last night is an absolute blur, I was treating it like every other Saturday like I’ve been going through for the last ten weeks. It was another show, another performance and then you let it hit you that once you’ve sang that’s it…..you’re going to find out who’s won.”
