About the finalists: Mary Byrne

Mary Byrne
Mary Byrne is X Factor 2010′s answer to Susan Boyle. She’s 50, and prior to being on the X Factor worked at the checkout of her local Tescos. She was first seen at the Dublin auditions, where she blew the judges away, with Cheryl Cole pronouncing her the ‘favourite’ from Dublin, and Simon Cowell telling her she had the ‘best voice out of everyone who has auditioned today’.

With a great voice but without the looks of a pop star, Mary seems unlikely to make it far in the competition – but with this being the X Factor, who knows!?
