Louis Walsh wanted to sign JLS – but wasn’t allowed

X Factor nearly-stars JLS have been dealt a massive blow to their chances of making it big – Simon Cowell’s Modest Management company, with whom all X Factor contestants are obliged to sign, are refusing to let them sign a contract with Louis Walsh.

Louis, who mentored JLS and brought Westlife and Boyzone to fame, is apparently furious at the decision, but resigned to their fate.

“I am upset, but JLS are a fantastic bunch of lads. I wish them well.
They are going to be without doubt the biggest band we have ever had on this show.”

There are reports that Sony BMG, who employ Simon Cowell, may still sign JLS, but at the moment nothing is definite.

Alexandra Burke wins X Factor 2008

As had widely been predicted, Alexandra Burke won the X Factor 2008, with JLS in second place.

Alexandra was so emotional after her win that she could barely speak, managing only to say a thankyou to the judges, and to tell everyone at home that her single was ‘for everyone who voted for me’.

JLS were the perfect gentlemen in defeat, thanking everyone and commenting that they hoped they could still have a career in the music industry.

With Cheryl Cole as the victorious judge it means that after Dannii’s victory last year the rookie judge has again won the competition.

Song choices for X Factor Final 2008

We don’t know all the songs to be sung in tonight’s final, but we can reveal the Christmas songs the acts are going to sing.

JLS are to sing the Wham hit ‘Last Christmas’, Eoghan is to perform the Wizard song ‘I Wish it Could be Christmas Every Day’, and Alexandra will be singing the carol ‘Silent Night’.

And the winner of X Factor 2008 is … ?

With just hours to go before the live X Factor final, it seems that before they’ve even sung a note, the odds are stacked in favour of Alexandra Burke.

Alexandra, who has attracted great comments from all the judges all series, has the clear advantage of singing with a real superstar. If you believe that part of the reason Leon Jackson won his controversial victory last year was because of his duet with Kylie Minogue, then surely Alexandra is sure to win with Beyonce by her side.

JLS and Eoghan are, by contrast, performing with two aging Irish boy bands who arguably have more to gain from a Saturday night ITV1 performance than the contestants they’re singing with.

It’s perhaps not so surprising then that the bookies have Alexandra as odds on favourite, with JLS likely to be second and Eoghan third. But who do you think will win tonight? Do you think that some of the contestants who already left the competition, such as Diana and Laura deserved to win more than any of these three? Post your comments and let the world know!
