Eoghan an Emotional Third as JLS and Alexandra are final two

After singing tonight with Boyzone, Eoghan Quigg followed the form and finished third, behind JLS and Alexandra.

The youngster from Northern Ireland was clearly emotional at the result, but gracious in defeat, thanking his fellow contestants.

His departure means that the final is between JLS and Alexandra – who will win the X Factor 2008?

Song choices for X Factor Final 2008

We don’t know all the songs to be sung in tonight’s final, but we can reveal the Christmas songs the acts are going to sing.

JLS are to sing the Wham hit ‘Last Christmas’, Eoghan is to perform the Wizard song ‘I Wish it Could be Christmas Every Day’, and Alexandra will be singing the carol ‘Silent Night’.

And the winner of X Factor 2008 is … ?

With just hours to go before the live X Factor final, it seems that before they’ve even sung a note, the odds are stacked in favour of Alexandra Burke.

Alexandra, who has attracted great comments from all the judges all series, has the clear advantage of singing with a real superstar. If you believe that part of the reason Leon Jackson won his controversial victory last year was because of his duet with Kylie Minogue, then surely Alexandra is sure to win with Beyonce by her side.

JLS and Eoghan are, by contrast, performing with two aging Irish boy bands who arguably have more to gain from a Saturday night ITV1 performance than the contestants they’re singing with.

It’s perhaps not so surprising then that the bookies have Alexandra as odds on favourite, with JLS likely to be second and Eoghan third. But who do you think will win tonight? Do you think that some of the contestants who already left the competition, such as Diana and Laura deserved to win more than any of these three? Post your comments and let the world know!

Stars Join X Factor Finalists

The names of the stars to be joining the X Factor finalists to sing tomorrow night have been released, and there are certainly a few surprises.

First up is JLS and Westlife. JLS were apparently originally to be joined by Rhianna, but she pulled out at the last minute, leaving Westlife to step in.

Next is Boyzone with Eoghan Quigg, an all-Irish pairing designed to appeal to the older sections of the audience.

Finally, Alexandra Burke is to be joined by the biggest star of three – Beyonce Knowles. This is definitely a coup for the program and Alexandra in particular – but it remains to be seen if it will be enough to give her the win.

Don’t miss the live X Factor final tomorrow night!
