X Factor 2008 winner Alexandra Burke
is alleged to have threatened to sue her mother, former Soul II Soul singer Michelle over a new ‘tell-all’ book.
Alexandra is said to have accused her mother of “cashing in” on her fame, and threatened to sue her after “begging her mum not to go ahead with the book”. Melissa is alleged to have serious money problems, and the book would seem to provide the answer to this.
A family friend was quoted in the News of the World saying:
“Everybody thinks she’s rich because she has this popstar daughter but the truth is she’s an ill woman struggling to get by.
“Alex does her best to support her mum and would have kept doing that, but she said she’d have to get lawyers involved and sue if Melissa went ahead with her publishing deal.”
I’ve no idea whether Alexandra would be happy with this, but it seems that her Christmas number one ‘Hallelujah’ was the 25th most popular song to be played at funerals.
If nothing else, at least it keeps her in peoples minds.
Fighting off stiff competition from the Jeff Buckley version of the same song, Alexandra Burke has won the Xmas number one with her debut single, Hallelujah.
Alexandra was so shocked she was unable to speak when she won the X Factor last week, so we can only wonder how gaining the top spot for Xmas will have left her feeling!
Will Alexandra’s first single go to number one as her X Factor predecessors have? Let’s hope so, because this is probably the best X Factor winner’s single ever!
