Rhydian ‘Sabotages’ Leon Performance

In what seems more like a desperate attempt to remain in the public conciousness than a malicious act, Rhydian turned off the lights on a live performance by Leon earlier this week.

Fellow X Factor contestant Niki Evans told the Daily Star: “At the end of his performance Rhydian jumps off the stage and runs around the side to make way for Leon.

“But the other night he happened to run around the wrong way and step on a plug which turned all the bloody electrics off.

“He claims it was an accident but whether it was sabotage or not I don’t know.

ITV: No irregularities with Leon’s Win

We’ve received many hundreds of comments here at X Factor Blog since Leon’s shock win last Saturday night. Many of these comments spoke of difficulties getting through on the voting lines – for both Leon and Rhydian.

ITV have now come out publicly to deny any irregularities in the voting.

“Phone lines were monitored through the night and there were no irregularities on the voting lines. Call levels for the final were very high and depending on phone operators some callers may have experienced an engaged tone or network busy message. A tiny number of mobile customers did experience problems getting through because of high call volumes but viewers can be reassured that this would absolutely not have affected the outcome of the show. As all numbers go through to the same lines and vote platform it is impossible for there to be any bias in favour of or against a particular contestant.”

An ITV insider also commented that Leon had been consistently the most voted-for throughout the series, topping five of the eight polls prior to the final.

Rhydian’s mother has also spoken out, telling fans “We are just asking the nation to let it go and move on. The competition is overstaying.”

Don’t forget there’s still time to vote for your favourite contestant of the whole series before our poll ends on Sunday evening!

Leon Jackson Winner of X Factor 2007

After a closely fought contest with over one hundred and fifty thousand auditionees, X Factor 2007 came down to a sing-off between Scotsman Leon and Welshman Rhydian.

Both acts sang their version of the song to be released as the winner’s single “When you Believe”, which is to be released on Wednesday.

Ultimately there could only be one winner, and that winner was Leon!

Rhydian had been favourite to win the competition since Futureproof and Daniel, with Leon referred to as the ‘dark horse’ of the competition, but ultimately with the voting power of Scotland behind him it was former shop-assistant Leon who succeeded.

The battle is now on for Christmas number one – can Leon make it to the top spot in time?
