Song Choices for American Anthems Week

This week’s theme on the X Factor is ‘American Anthems’, so expect lots of soft-rock and stadium-style lighting effects. Here’s what we know so far about what everyone is singing – don’t panic if your favourite act isn’t there, we’ll be updating this post as we get more information!

Treyc Cohen – I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing
Cher – Empire State Of Mind
Katie (if performing) – Don’t Speak

Mary Byrne – There You’ll Be
Wagner – Viva Las Vegas

1 Direction – Kids In America

Matt – Everybody Hurts

  1. One Direction Will do No Boundaries – Kris Allen. Not an American Anthem but will be epic…

  2. Wow! I love the early leaks of info that your site gets about the xfactor shows. Cant wait to see the show on saturday and especially Aiden’s take on Viva las Vegas!!

  3. I’ll lmao if One Direction do that. I guess Simon does like Kris Allen after all! (As he should.)

Aiden isn’t doing “Viva Las Vegas” though, thankfully. I’m still panicking of him being the shock elimination, so people of UK and Ireland, please vote constantly!

Wagner has that song instead–which makes more sense, when you think about it.

I can sort of see that song on Rebecca, but hm. Also, rumors are that Cher is doing “Paparazzi” and Matt is doing “Hey There, Delilah”; take these with a grain of salt, as either one could’ve started out as suggestions. But I think both could work. Aiden’s song is happy, so I’m still quite curious what he’s really got….

  4. I think Cher should do a mix of ‘Toy soldiers’ one week, I think it would really suit her!!

  5. I’ve heard down the grapevine that Matt will close the show singing Everybody Hurts by R.E.M.

I really hope so. About time he was given a real song to show the amazing talent we seen at boot camp.

  6. I hope Matt doesn’t “close the show” again. I think it’s Aiden’s, Rebecca’s, or perhaps even Mary’s turn for the pimp spot. It’s only fair to spread it out a bit this early on.

  8. I would have preferred for Matt to have sang don’t want to miss a thing as it’s always been one of my favourites to hear from him. As word has it that Treyc is now to sing this, it’s obviously never going to be so :(

  10. Sorry Louis Walsh, The song Kids in America peaked at number two on the UK singles chart. The following year it became a Top 30 hit in the US. In the summer of 1981, the track appeared on Wilde’s self-titled debut album. You got it wrong.

  11. How on earth can louie even think of letting wagner attempt an elvis song the best singer and entertainer the world has ever known it was a complete disgrace it was that bad i couldnt even stay in the same room. As for simon his comments he liked it well that just shows you that simon knows nothing. I have never heard or seen anybody so terrible doing as elvis song it seems to me that louie and simon are taking the p**s out of the memmory of the greatest ELVIS.

  16. Tonights x factor was so unfair Dermont should have went back to Cheryl for her vote so it would been left down to the public vote not down to the Judges. What was Katie trying o do on her sing off was she trying to kill a cat at least u understood treyc wwhat she was singing.

  17. X-factor judges are messed up. TREYC is the only reason i watch that show. are they blind?

    Comment by doris — Sunday, 7 November, 2010 @ 22:11

  18. the poor girl should not have been dragged into this in the first place to shatter her dreams like this. is it not obvious that some of these contestants are more talented than some crazy wagner and katie that some people choose to keep. THIS TOTALLY NOT FAIR…TREYC HAD THE X-FACTOR….JUDGES AM DISSAPPIONTED.

  19. I think The X Factor is a fix can someone explain to me why the hell is Wagner still in i swear Lewis Walsh must have Wagner’s number on speed dial every Saturday coz who else is gonna vote for HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, I think Cher and One Direction are absolutally amazing i know that 1 off them are gonna win, i think Zain outta One Direction is good looking well they are all good looking but Zain stands out more :) xx

  20. Really disappointed that Treyc left today, i don’t think judges were fair at all, Treyc was far more better throughout competition, Katie just broke down and couldn’t hold her nerves, forgot the words of a song, Simon and Louis u ruined the show by saving Katie!

    Comment by Tati — Sunday, 7 November, 2010 @ 23:26

  21. katie u dont deserve to be on this show trec chould have stay cant the judges see that the public dont like her katie i hate u
