Want to register a protest again Cowell? Don’t vote for JEdward, buy Laura White’s single instead

We’ve been flooded with so many comments in support of Lucie Jones that we’ve been struggling to keep up here at X Factor blog. Tens of thousands of you have logged on to register your disappointment that Lucie has left the show. But what can you do to really make a protest?

Many have suggested that everyone should vote for John and Edward, thinking that this in some way will damage Simon Cowell, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Simon makes money every time someone casts a vote, and he certainly hasn’t lost out with unsuccessful acts like Leon Jackson winning.

The best way to show Simon he is wrong is to buy the single of a girl who was treated very similarly to Lucie last year: Laura White. Laura is signed to a small independent label, but this week charted at a very respectable number 31, despite no airplay or publicity. Unlike a vote for John and Edward, buying Laura’s single You Should Have Known makes Simon no money, but registers a protest against the way he treats the young acts on the X Factor.

We are strongly urging everyone who supports real talent to click here and buy Laura White’s single. For less than 70p you can help propel Laura to chart fame and show Simon the acts he misses out on by choosing controversy over talent.

laura white you should have known

  3. Simon has shown that there is something corrupt about this money making(for him) show.
Given he has slagged off John and Edward for weeks, when the chance comes to vote them off he declines and sends of one of the best singers, with a future, on the show.
I also note that the judges get more air time and introductions that he contestants….just who is this show highlighting the singers or the judges.
Finally the mimming is just a joke.

WONT WATCH ANYMORE……its a fixed farce

  4. This competition used to be to ‘find talent’ now it is just an ego boosting money spinner for Simon.
The judging should be based on ability and not take the opportunity to knock out strong contenders who may be better then Simon’s boys.
Passing the decision to the public was a ‘win-win’ situation for Simon, get rid of the terrible twins or knock out a good singer.
Not how the show used to be!!

  5. I have never been so disgusted in my life. Simon Cowell should be ashamed of himself for the treatment of Lucie. Simon said that he was going to judge on the best performance, he did not. Whats going on. He is making a mockery of the viewing public. I will not watch that show again. I work in an office with 15 people, and they have said the same. They will not watch next saturday. We are all switching to strictly.

  7. All the above comments are so true. This is the end of my xfactor evenings i will never watch again.lets see Simon’s money stop rolling in.. everyone needs to stop watching and stop voting – thats the way to really hit him hard. I have always admired Simon but no longer – manipulative and smug!

  8. I don’t think the few of here will make a big difference but i have bought it. All of Simons respect has now gone. What a disgrace.

    Comment by Gary — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 13:34

  9. Unbelievable…but I can guess what is going on. By Simon being the last to vote it gives him the power to manipulate the results in his favour. Lucie was a threat to his group and he doesn’t want to lose so he played his gamble card and instead of voting off who was the worst based on the last song (John and Edward), which is what he should have done, he opted out and left it to the public, who seem to have a soft spot for the boys and the votes, being in favour of JEdward, allowed them to go through. I really hope that Lucie has a career ahead of her in singing as she has a superb voice, with a vast range of notes and gets the notes right. There are a lot of people out there that support you Lucie and good luck to you. X Factor isn’t everything. Carry on, hold your head hight and prove the idiot wrong. Many have and to be honest I have nothing against John and Edward as people but they really cannot sing, have no rythm and will not be many people’s idol!!!!

  10. Simon, please do not blame the voters for the appalling outcome of Sunday night’s X Factor. The whole purpose of giving the judges the final vote is to prevent the wrong person being booted off where there is a clear discrepancy between the voters’ choice and the singer’s talent. Lucie is a potential star, and the purpose of X Factor is to find the next British superstar. Given the choice between Jedward and Lucie, it was clearly Lucie who should have stayed. Is Simon tactically voting off any potential competition against his team, or is he just tone deaf? Either way, he did the wrong thing on Sunday. We should now campaign to give Lucie another chance and bring her back!

    Comment by Damien Miner — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 14:14

  11. There should be no sing off anyway. The public vote so the act with the lowest number of votes should go. Lucie was last so she deserved to go. I would like to know how many of the people moaning actually voted for Lucie. She is good singer but with no sparkle. John and Edward are dreadful but there is no one with an outstanding singing talent in this year’s X factor. There is no Leona Lewis on view. Of the last two winners Alexandra is a good singer and nothing more and at times Leon’s voice was no better than the twins. Simon Cowell should end this farce and think of another format.

    Comment by Violet — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 14:45

  12. I think it’s a good idea to buy LAURA WHITE’s single. She is trying to make it solo without big money marketing companies.
It’s also interesting how the X-FACTOR factory only likes to support the winners as long as they make money, and it has to be a lot of money! It seems you have to be as big as LEONA to maintain their interest. I predict this years winner will follow LEON JACKSON’s path. Last year definitely had better acts.
LAURA WHITE has done great to get a hit this week without any of the shows support. In fact, is she not the only person to leave the competition so early that has managed a hit? Usually that luxury falls only on the top 3 from X Factor.
I’d rather give £10 to Laura than 1p to Simon.

    Comment by Billy — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 16:26

  13. Once again JO Public being fiddled with the voting. Cowell and ITV making big buck’s, by keeping the twins in each week. Phones keep ringing and the money keeps coming in with those voting in each week.
Cowell, the public’s lowest vote Sunday must have been a fix when saying,”that he was inclined towards the twins” then taking this vote to Jo public.
He had the last vote by keeping the twin’s in, he somehow fathomed this out and, also in keeping face with Cole after last weeks show. Somehow this backfired and the twin’s had, so we are told had the lowest votes.
Any one got any perceptions on these votes, we like too know ?

    Comment by Mike — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 16:29

  14. What a load of rubbish on here, Alex won last year and is a much better singer than Laura. There has to be losers and there has to be winners, it’s an entertainment show, not a talent show as everyone keeps thinking. And hey, all the idiots who say Simon ditched Lucy, it was the PUBLIC VOTE THAT DITCHED LUCY, wake up everyone, you are the public, dont blame Cowell, get a petition up against the PUBLIC.
Laura is a great singer but she didn’t make it, simple as that. If she can do it with a smaller record company good on her but remember this, she would be nowhere if she hadn’t appeared on X Factor in the first place…..would she?

    Comment by CK — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 17:13

  15. My husband and I have watched every series of X Factor and always enjoyed them. We have found Simon Cowell in particular to talk a lot of sense and have found his manner entertaining. However, having watched last night when Simon had the opportunity to get rid of John and Edward (the same duo he had said “if they win I will leave the country”), what did he do but go to deadlock! We are both absolutely appalled by this blatant farce and will never be watching the show again. He said last night that the performances of Lucie and John and Edward would be judged on that one performance and the slate previous to this would be wiped clean. Lucie was far superior to that pair of clowns vocally and whilst some may find their act entertaining I was under the impression we were watching a competition to get a pop star. Simon you have let us down and we look forward to you leaving the country as promised, as thanks to your own efforts Jedward are one step closer!

    Comment by Sharon Dyer — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 17:19

  16. The show has become a farse. After weeks of slating Jedward (who are cringe worthy)he then saves them by going to the public vote.I believe the judges are aware of the public vote before making their decision. This saved Simon from going against all he had said before. This show should be about finding the best talent who hopefully have a future in the music industry, not individuals with no talent, but are there only as a talking point.Sorry Simon but you have just lost another viewer.

  17. I love the fact that Jennifer Hudson was in American Idol and only came 7th. She later went on to win an Oscar and became a successful music artist. Simon made no money from her, haha.

    Comment by Billy — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 17:55

  18. Simon should be ashamed after last nights fiasco the two twerps did not even sing they talked their way through. Every time they get on stage they make themselves look like morons. Better acts did not get past the auditions and as he slags them off week after week it makes you wonder about the show, how many more good acts are we going to lose from the show. Watch out Simon if one of your acts is up against it Louie will not step in to save them.

  20. Simon Cowell should hang his head in shame. He has grossly let down a talented young singer in favour of what can be no better described as a pantomime act. Both his and Louis Walsh’s professionalism should be questioned. Not only have they made a mockery of all the show stands for by backing the totally talentless duo ( Icant bear to type their names)they have absolutley undermined the whole concept of the show. Shame on them both. Their professionalism should be certainly be questioned.

Laura was favorite to win the show on nearly ever website and was completely defeating all the competition each week! then she got in bottom two due to ’secret dating with xfactor executive’ but it was all lies!!, and she sang her heart out and yet he sent her home because she was a BIG threat to his acts, laura really was the best singer in the competition that year. SO ALL BUY HER SINGLE!! and we can prove to simon u dont even need to be in the final to be successful!

  37. It was the publics fault she got voted off not Simon’s. They were the ones that didn’t vote for her not simon. Neither act got many votes and neither act has much chance of winning and they all have to go in the end except one so what does it matter? If Lucy is so fantastic then she’ll do fine anyway and if Jedward are so rubbish then they’ll vanish as quick as they appeared. Don’t get so upset about it. It’s all just entertainment. Just smile and enjoy it for what it is. A saturday night laugh.

  38. ITS A TV SHOW… not the olympics… do really think the show is set up fairly to judge? lol
How could the judges possibly be fair when they all have a financial stake in the contestants…
CHILL OUT…enjoy the entertainment of J and E and stop thinking of it as a talent competition because it isnt…. its a tv show to make money on all of you for watching it and voting….
If your going to Blast someone..blast the show and the judges and the public who voted do NOT personalize this against the contestants… it is out of thier control…. J and E are being used by the show for ratings and taking all the rath of the critics and they are merely pawns of the show… so put the blame where it belongs NOT ON THE BOYS

Simon i used to think alot of you but you are nor running the show to your advantage.
I will be watching anything but the X Factor on Saturday and Sunday night.Listen to the Fans of the show and not Simon has you wouldnt have a show without us.

  44. As far as i am concerned the whole show has now lost its credibility lucie was by far the better contestant and simon had his best opportunity yet to get rid of the talentless twins and he bottled it. I have always agreed with simon in the past but i will not watch the show or vote from now on,absouletly disgraceful !!!

  45. hi, just thought i’d add my piece following sunday’s outcome, it’s clearly obvious that something has gone wrong and many people as have i been shocked with the voting. I have come to the conclusion and i’m pretty sure many of you have done so as well that NONE of Simon’s acts should get a vote this weekend, they ARE great and were by far my favourite BUT, Simon has made a mockery of the voting system, no vote, no money for him and best of all, to watch his face seeing one of his performers axed. . . PRICELESS!

  46. Hi, I think a lot of people are missing the point here, S.Cowell does not want another female singer promoted, however talented. That was obvious on his boot camp when he sent home a female singer who would have knocked the socks off his male contestants. There is already Leonna Lewis and Alexander Burke, both strong popular artists. What Cowell wants and is determined to get by fair means or foul,is another Will Young. I beieve he has already one of his artists ear marked for this(guess who?). It cannot be coincidental that two of the strongest females have been in the bottom two in the last two weeks and guess who is next on his hit list? Stacey watch out!!.If the public want to put a stop to this farce then they should vote only for Stacey, the last girl standing and NOT vote for any of his acts. See how he could fix that??. I don’t know anyone who is not of the opinion that this show is corrupt. M.

  47. Mr Simon Cowell has effectively decreased Xfactor viewers by 75%, I guess.
If ‘We the Public’ allow him to sit there whilst we listen to his every word, then he should realise ONE thing. He had the power to ’stop giving viewers the opportunity to have their say by pretending to ‘Let it go to the Public Vote’. He must have known that Jedward had received more votes than Lucie. We the public are not so stupid that we will bother to even watch the show, if he did not use his power to provide a show worth watching. His action has signed the death warrant for the Xfactor.
And it used to be a really good show to watch. Pity!

  48. On 6th november Laura went on radio 1 xtra. They played her single and the listeners were invited to sum what they thought of it in one word (they did this with Alexandras single previously and she was SLATED)…… Every comment that Laura got was complimentary..`AMAZING` `AWESOME`etc…..even the DJ said `I cant understand this, even Alexandras single was massacred by the listeners`(or words to that effect) Then the DJ asked the producer to give a response….she cagily said `Oh give me some time to think about this..seriously i need some time..i will think about it and give you my answer in a while`………………….10 minutes later the DJ pressed her again for a response and she said ` ok, my one word is ………………`COOL` (she said this very cooly) This just makes me think that there was no backing from Radio 1 whatsoever……I thought what a f*****g bitch! Laura was then put on the spot and asked to sing something…..she ummed and ahhd and then said, `ok, i`ll sing a bit from my single`…she then sang an amazing acapella which drew further complements from listeners. I just think its so unfair that Laura hasnt been given a break by the people that really have influence. At least get the song out on the airwaves and let the listeners decide! I think its a case of `Its not what you know, but who you know!`
