Lucie Jones out after John and Edward saved by Simon Cowell

A massively controversial result this week, as the bottom two consisted of Lucie Jones and John and Edward.

Louie was extremely complimentary about Lucie, explaining that he thought she didn’t deserve to be in the bottom two, but that he had to protect his own act. Dannii Minogue unsurprisingly voted to save Lucie, and Cheryl Cole, who had previously spoken out about John and Edward, voted to send the Irish twins home. That left the deciding vote to Simon Cowell, who after slating the celtic pairing all series then proceeded to vote send Lucie home, creating a dead-lock and leaving the decision to the public vote.

As Lucie has polled the lowest number of votes, it was she who left the competition, leaving JEdward to perform again next week.

  1. Utterly discusted! Media mogal Simon Cowell has yet again provoked viewer ratings in hope gaining in excess of 12 million by ignoring his previous and nemerous comments of Jedwood – saying “they cant sing, and this is a singing contest” by deliberatly shifting the decision over to the public vote! knowing full well it will cause contraversy and Jedwood are soaring the vier ratings, choosing popularity over talent! I hope simon relises this could bring about a tipping point to long term viewing ratings, as im sure a good third to two thirds will now switch off! out of discused. Jedwood would not have even made it through on Britons Got Talent, there just an average pair of cute twins, who cant sing a note. they just have a certain amount of likabillity factor. thank you simon cowell, i am the public vote, and i wont be watching any more of your media productions, because quite frankly – you have no credabillity left.

  2. Tonight was the biggest farce I have ever seen on x factor..Simon Cowell has slated John and Edward since the very beginning and tonight maintains that he couldnt decide..I will no longer watch this show as it sickened me what was done on it..Lucie deserved to stay and probably win as she is one of the most talented on the show..

  3. I think Simon copped out BIG time tonight. How can you week on end say how rubbish John and Edward are and then vote to keep them in so it goes back to the public vote. Come on Simon, where’s that backbone you used to have gone?? Also, was it just me or did I see Mr Walsh stick two fingers up at the audience? I disagree with the audience booing John and Edward, as it’s not their fault the public vote for them, but how can he justify their performances when he was so highly critical of Same Difference last year (at least they could sing!!)

  4. Bad decision by Simon…he has been waiting for Jedward to get into the bottom 2 since week 1; when he gets the opportunity to send them home he doesn’t take it! Think he is playing games, getting rid of the talented ones so that one of his boys will win. Very disappointing. Don’t think I will be watching it from now on, its just become a farce. Don’t they get a recording contract? If that’s the case what are Jedward still doing on the show? Does he really think that anyone will buy their records?

  7. This was a Fix…. no way were john and Edward better than Lucy. John and Edward shouldn’t even be in the competition. Simon wants the twins in for rating for his own show, he has no interest in any of the finalists careers. Complete fix, will not watch anymore!!!!!

  8. Well well well, can i just say that Simon Cowell has slated the public since the beginning of the x factor this season by voting to keep John and Edward in, but i must state a very big valuable point!!! Simon Cowell WELL DONE, you have just managed to make the biggest mockery of your show every, the x factor is finished!!! Well done your show is a mockery and you have know one to acknowledge but yourselve. You knew Lucie would go home if it was left to the public, and that is what you wanted because she was the biggest threat to your contestant in the show. Well done Simon pat on the back i must say. What a mockery you have made of yourself. Its a singing competition not and entertainment competition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. What a coward Simon Cowell is by not voting to keep Lucie in. He thinks by keeping the dreadful twins in his “precious boys” will stand more chance as Lucie was an easy contender to win it! I hope they win now and he leaves the show for good as he has made it a complete farce. Goodbye Simon Cowell!

    Comment by Pam Little — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:37

  14. How can Simon Cowell berate John and Edward every week and when he gets the chance to vote them off, simply not have the guts to do it? He always says it is a SINGING competition, but then favours the non-singers against a good singer like Lucie. Totally two-faced. I will no longer be watching this farce.

  16. How many times has Simon Cowell said to fellow judges ” this is a singing competition and must be judged on that alone” I am discusted with what Simon has done tonight, he is obviously getting rid of the competion knowing that the singers in his group will struggle against the good singers in the contest.
I’m actually so discusted with what he’s done I don’t think I want to watch the show again an will probably boycott it from now on.

  17. I can not believe that Simon Cowell could not make a decision. He needs reminding that this is a singing competition not an entertainment show!If he can not see that Lucie has star quality and a wonderful voice then maybe he needs to go for a hearing test!
Because of this farce I will not be watching X factor again!I am seething!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. Well i for one am finished with x factor and i hope a lot of other people do the same, i will now turn over to the bbc. i thought the x factor was a singing contest, after all that simon has says about the twins i believe the whole thing is just a farce and i hope he is ashamed of himself for ruining a young girls dreams who had a lot of talent to keep in the two idiots who cant sing, dance or do anything really. I hope the ratings for this programme go down and it gets taken off air as after tonight it has just proved its a lot of shite.

    Comment by amanda — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:39

  19. To me the entire X factor show and all affiliated networks have been held together by Simon Cowells unwavering judgement and complete industry knowledge. I have always respected his judgement as gospel.

However, after tonight he has completely, unrepairably, destroyed his credibility as a judge. The ‘judge saves’ verdict was in place for the rare occasion that the audience may make a mistake (perhaps to think that Lucy was safe) however, he has gone against his statement to base judgement on tonight’s performance and instead on his complete arrogance (no unplaced) over last weeks public response.

I personally will NEVER watch any show affiliated to this as it makes a mockery of everything it stands for, talent.

What a complete joke that has left me enraged… why did I ever bother voting…

I hope you receive the ‘feedback’ you duly deserve Simon.

    You former fan.

  20. Simon, I’m usually a huge fan…. your always usually right, but I’m afraid after tonight, I’ve lost total faith in you and the show, totally disgusted with you and you alone, I expect such rubbish from Mr Walsh… but not you… how can you sit there all high & mighty, slagging off the likes of the boys… who I add can’t sing.. and put out the likes of Lucy, you know damn well how good she was…the show I think has run it’s course, if this is the way it’s going. Sick to death of the judges each week ‘bla bla chose the wrong song’ whatever…. you see the faces of the likes of Ollie and Jamie that are true ‘general public’ contenders… they appear totally sick of the whole thing, all the squabbling between you 4… now much too pathetic… no longer enjoyable!!

  22. I hope Jedward win this show now just to P”’ off Simon. From now on I will be watching Strictly. After all the bad comments about the boys he had the opportunity to get rid of them and he bottled it Lucy sang top class

  23. I am agahst at the ‘U-Turn’ and hipocrasy within one show, never mind the stupidity of Lucie going before the twins, but Simon Cowell stated the judges would decide on the last performance who would be saved, that did not happen, gutless, serving his own agenda, this from what I though was one of the more discerning judges.

How many times have we heard…represent this country… a singing compition … hi scomments on the twins etc etc etc X Factor is in real danger of losing its credability …. what a shame afetr listening Leona Lewis and Alexanda Burke recently …. long standing fan that is ‘dissapointed’

  26. I think that Simon Cowell is a complete idiot and Lucie is 10,000 times better than those two talentless fools. What happened to “It’s a singing competition”? Simon also said that he would leave the country if Jedward won. Cheerio Mr Cowell, take your money and your hypocrisy and disappear off to your foreign home.

The only fools here are the ones who waste money voting for these idiots. If the judges can’t or won’t vote, why are they there?

    Comment by Duncan Moss — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:41

  27. Simon clearly saw Lucy as a threat to his contestents… what a hypocrite… he deserves all the feed back and loss of audience he will receive this week…

  28. I will never watch x-factor again after Simon Cowells disgusting tactical behaviour. For two weeks running he has used his final judge position to tactically remove strong opponents to his three acts. He has ruined my Sunday and made a joke of a talent show. The whole format of the programme is wrong with two of the “judges” being oblidged to vote for their own acts. This leaves only two judges to give honest opinions and even these are not honest when one of the judges who has previously actively knocked John and Edward misses the opportunity to dismiss them so as to keep the weaker act in and keep his own three candidates with a greater chance. I hope that X factor ratings sink in Hell

  30. Simon you slated JEDWARD for weeks, and then when you could do the right thing, you didn’t. You showed lack of support for Danni and one has to wonder if it wasn’t a passive aggressive act by you towards Danni. Like all powerful people, you begin to believe in yourself to the point that you stop doing the right thing. You need to remember that is our choice to tune in and turn on. We made you and we can abondon you! You made a fantastic show but now it is losing its integrity and direction.

    Comment by Jan Phillips — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:42

  31. I cannot believe what I have just seen!! How on earth Simon chose those two over Lucie is beyond me, after everything he has said over the past few weeks. This just goes to show that this show is NOTHING to do with talent but all about ratings and contraversy. Simon, I think you just shot yourself in the foot big time cause I think viewers will be switching off in droves. We have just deleted X Factor from our Sky Plus and will not be watching again! A message to Louis and your silly boys, if you had any integrity you would step down now.

  33. I used to be a big fan of X Factor but after what happened tonight i just realised that this show is not a singing competition anymore, it became more than a joke…a circus and the judges are the only ones to blame for that.Just wait and see what will happen next year… you’ll have to name the show X Circus. Very dissapointed that such a beautiful show became just a laugh.

    Comment by alexandra — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:42

  34. I won’t be watching again after tonight. Simon Cowell proved himself to be a complete sham. It’s not a competition at all; it’s just a publicity stunt. Shame, because there really is some good talent. But when Cowell says we’ll judge on the way they are about to sing – and then doesn’t actually mention the way they have sung – well it’s just pretty sickening. I feel so sorry for Lucie. She has such a great voice, but has been beaten by Simon Cowell’s overweaning desire to create publicity for his show. He is not bothered by the fact that this lovely 18 year old has been treated so unfairly. As I said, I won’t be watching again.

    Comment by paul horner — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:44

  39. Tonights show 8 Nov was a farce by any stretch of imagination. Simon has turned the show into a joke of which I will watch No More. The judges should not automatically save their own act, but genuinely vote for the best act that can SING, John and Edward have no real singing talent and should have never made it to the live shows. Lucie Jones is a real singer with genuine talent . From now on when x factor comes on, The tele gets switched off.

    Comment by Richard — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:44

  40. Thinks tonight’s result is an absolute farce!! How can Simon justify not sending Jedwood out when he had the chance when he said only last night that they can’t sing etc and simultaniously predicting Lucy will be in the final 3!!! What a JOKE!! Always thought a lot of Simon but this has put me off him and put me off watching the show. This is a singing competion-yet seems mostly about ‘what Simon wants’ and shows what he wants is whatever gets more press and ratings!!
    SO ANGRY!!!!!

  42. Simon you are a joke! Since the series began you have been slagging off the twins, yet you had the perfect opportunity this evening to get rid of two of the worst singers I have ever heard in the final twelve. Why? Perhaps you have a hidden agenda (perhaps there is a financial gain keeping them in?) Because of the decision you made to put it to the public vote, I think you have made the programme a circus and I for one will no longer view it; I used to defend your comments when they were contstructive, however, I feel you have degraded yourself and the programme by your decision and I hope that others will agree.

    Comment by Janet Brown — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:45

  43. So when Simon says it will be judged on the performance in front of us and one contestant ’sings’ brilliantly in a ’singing’ competion- Simon votes to save two nice enough lads who cannot sing. Obviously the revenue from their teenybopper fans phone calls was too much for Simon to turn up when push came to shuv – or is he synically knocking out acts that could beat his??
Whatever it is he has seriously damaged the credibility of the show. Its got vicious and nasty now,in a horrible bullying way. Lucy was wonderful this week and had a real breakthrough in finding her style. What a nasty piece of work Simon is.

  47. Cowel has been slating John & Edward every week and this week, did not have the guts to vote them out.
I for one will not be watching the xfactor anymore. It is the most contrived show on television.
There appears to be something behind Cowls descision in alowing Lucy to be voted out. Dont please say it was down to the public!! Cowl knew it would go the way it did.

    Comment by Ron Houghton — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:46

  48. People lets be completely honest here, Simon Cowell knew exactly what he was doing this week by putting Lucie up to the public vote.We all know the amount of votes the twins are getting purely by the fact they are still in the X factor.Simon is hell bent on winning this thing he fed Lucie to the wolves, single handedly ended her X factor dream.Myself I Will never watch a single episode of the show ever again this guy whoever good he is whoever rich he is really thinks he can control peoples lives. But you know how the saying goes you reap what you sow the higher you are in life the further you have to fall…Simon…!!!

  51. Simon has just hit the nail into his own coffin – what a complete farce. Its all about ratings and I’ve had enough. I’ve lost all respect for him and his opinions – he’s a prat and i hope what he has done kills X-factor so he can’t make any more money from it.

    Comment by clarej — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:47

  52. Not only is Simon Cowell a complete and utter hypocrite for his tactical voting out of one of the strongest singers in the competition but also for, in previous weeks, repeating himself that this is a singing competition then not voting out the “non singer” act in the bottom two. I also feel that Louis Walsh who is not only biased towards performers from Ireland but also rude and arrogant not only to Dermot O’Leary but also a member of the public. This does not set a good example for many of the younger generation who will have witnessed this and believe that this gross misconduct is acceptable. He should be made to offer a public apolgy.

I would suggest to the public not to vote for any of the acts next week and see how long this fast becoming farce of a talent show continues.

  54. Simon Cowell has tonight succeeded in destroying the last shred of credibility that X-Factor 2009 had left. To display such crass hypocracy by not eleiminating John & Edward when the opportunity presented itself after being their fiercest critic week upon week defies belief. This spineless moron should hang his head in shame after denying a talented young lady the opportunity to progress. This is supposed to be a singing competition.Simon obviously has an alternative agenda.

    Comment by Magni1998 — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:47

  55. What is Simon Cowell up to? Is he just manipulating the show to get one of his acts to win. After spending weeks slagging off J+E – he’s now thrown them a life line. Lucie was by far the better singer and performer. Well thats it for me – no more X factor in our house. Strictly here we come…..

  58. Utterly disgusted is putting it midly. Simon was chicken. Louis is a joke. How can it be a singing contest and still have Deadwood in it at this stage. Simon played the strategy card tonight knowing that he was sending home the best singer and keeping his boys in the frame. Sack the hairdresser – PLEASE – or take their fingers out of the electric socket. The powers that be are keeping them in for ratings only and dressing them in childish clothes, dances and prancing about like a pair of plonkers. Show is descending to a farce and should be struck off prog. list. Can’t say more – too upset for poor Lucy, she deserved much better.

I think that tonight Simon Cowell made completely the wrong decision by going to deadlock. 60. What a farce, to say that Simon Cowell (or should that be coward) is a recording executive, he has made a mockery of the show. He has complained from day 1 that the twins can’t sing and shouldn’t even be in the competition, yet when he has the oportunity to eliminate them he chickens out and leave’s it to the audience vote.
This is no longer a talent competition it is now all about ratings and I feel sorry for all the serious artists that enter.

  61. OMG I have never commented on any show I watch. But this pushes all limits. He has the nerve to keep reminding us all (when jeward sings) that this is a singing contest! Yet he is so spineless and truly pathetic that he allows a talented young singer like Lucie Jones to be voted out because he’s so desperate to win this year and knows his own singers are lacking in that “something”! Surfice to say all this years potientials are lacking it but to keep in John & Edward makes it a frace. Badly done Mr Cowell badly done indeed!!!

  63. What a joke, Simon has slated the twins every week since the beginning of the competition yet when given the opportunity to remove them from the show, decides to pass and instead one of the most talented contestants on the show loses out again. Her peformance was clearly better then anything those two could ever muster, the show has fallen so far its laughable.

    Comment by Patrick — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:49

  64. Well Simon’s got what he wanted. Another big threat removed. I think the public should give him more of what he wants. If he’d rather keep Jedward in and semd another class singer home, maybe we should help him.
    LET’S ALL VOTE FOR JEDWARD!
See how he copes with that when his boys start showing up in the bottom two.

This show used to be about people who could sing… the winner was decided on how amazing their voice was, not how stupid they could look on stage, or how many laughs their performance could get!
This show has become a farce! Lucie had such amazing talent!!! Its outrageous and the show has just lost a viewer! Unforgiveable!

  67. Simon Cowell’s smarmy attitude and over inflated ego has now been overtaken by his total lack of integrity and backbone, what a s**t. When the man looks in a mirror to shave how can he be sure which one of his two faces the razor is touching?

I am totally disgusted, Simon please change your surname from Cowell to Coward, far more apt for you!!!!

    Comment by Grahm W — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:50

  68. I completed agree with all the comments that have been placed here so far this evening – have a feeling that there will be more along this line. Simon is a hyprocrite and he could have saved Lucie but even though she was in the bottom 2 he knew she was still a threat to his precious Danyl – who by the way is a awful singer. I hope the twins or Joe now go on to win I hope that the awful Danyl doesn’t win – anyone but him – Complete fix this evening. Come on Britain vote for Jedward or Joe to win to swipe the smug smile of both Simon and Danyl’s face – this is no longer a singing competition.

    Comment by kate — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:50

  69. I am absolutely disgusted at the way Simon set up the end result of going to the public vote. He’s always going on about this being a singing competition and that he was going to vote based on the sing off performance and then says afterwards before he sends it to deadlock that he was voting on the basis of who could win! I have watched X Factor for several years but am not going to from now on!

    Comment by Aaron — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:50

  70. A Singing Competition?? Oh Mr Cowell, what have you done? Your integrity, your passion for genuine talent & fairness, gone! Such a shame. Xfactor 1 viewer less next week, think i’ll give strictly a chance, can’t bear to watch this once amazing singing show turn into such a farce. SHAME SHAME SHAME

    Comment by LeahC — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:51

  71. what a sham! Simon – you could see lucie win which is why you wanted her out. what a farce the show is turning into. We all know that the eurovision song contest is about tactical voting – I didn’t think that x factor would be so blatant about it. I now don’t want to watch the rest of the series – shame on you.

    Comment by Jacqui — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:52

  72. I’m glad other people are as angry as I am about tonight’s show – I agree with all the comments above and will not be watching again. I have always thought that Simon Cowell gives his opinion honestly and has in the past even given negative comments to his own acts if need be, which the other judges won’t do, but he has now sold out and destroyed any credibility he had.

I really hope the show loses ratings as a result, as that’s what he deserves.

    Comment by Jennifer — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:52

  73. Singing competition, what a joke. Xfactor should be renamed xibition faction, it has nothing to do with singing! Simon Cowell proved that tonight by voting in John and Edward over Lucie.

    Comment by Maria Perry — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:53

  74. I LOVE YOU SIMON COWELL. I LOVE JOHN AND EDWARD AND I WISH I HAD ENOUGH HAIR TO BE THE SAME AS THEM. NITS AND ALL.

    Comment by Glenn Young — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:53

  75. I have enjoyed the x factor so far, until tonight and now the show has defended into farce. Simon Cowell normally makes perceptive and useful comments – but if he is so spineless as to be unable to make a decision two weeks in a row, it is time for him preferably to resign as a judge, but, failing that, for the order of voting to be changed so that someone who has the guts to make a decision gets the last vote. That of course is the less sinister version of events. The more sinister version is that Simon Cowell realised full well that the nation would have voted for John and Edward ahead of Lucie and therefore was using the system to take out someone more likely to challenge ‘his’ candidates. If so, it is the second week he has done it. Tonight’s decision was a travesty and I will not be watching the rest of the competition.

    Comment by Chris Haworth — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:53

  76. simon cowell you are a disgrace.you think you can spot talent.what a joke.lucie has a fantastic voice and could have won the show.stop wiping danyl’s —–.you went a step too far tonight in trying to make sure one of your lot win.i hope the ratings show it next week.you have made an utter joke of the whole programme.i am one ex fan who will no longer waste my time and money on the programme.it could be the end of x factor but it has lined simon’s pocket very nicely.

    Comment by caretakerboy — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:53

  77. Absolutly ridiculous. Simon had the chance to get rid of them but chose the cowards way out knowing that Lucie would have less votes. I think he will have lost a lot of viewers over this, including myself. How can we continue to watch this so called ’singing competiton’?

    Comment by Rachel — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:54

  78. wat happened this week. why did simon do this lucie is really good i dont know why he did this. i wish he could change his desicions. at the same time i feel sorry for simon because he’s a great judge and nows he’s going to be very unpopular and upset. but he’ll cope

    Comment by hozzy — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:54

  79. Wot a copout! Simon obv went to deadlock to remove one of the stronger acts so one of his win! I am fuming, he is such a money grabbing contradicting twat….one minute its all about a singer and then when he can save a good 1 he bottles it….
Not john and edwards fault….I’m for every1 voting now to make them win, wipe smug simons smile right off!!!!!

    Comment by sarah — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:54

  80. completely disgusted by the decision tonight but i have to say that i believe that alot of the people who moan when john and edward are put through are the same people who vote for them. there is no justification in john and edward going through and simon cowell is a complete dick head for what he did tonight

    Comment by josh — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:54

  81. I ave tried emailin the show an for some suprise it wont allow my email to be sent I am absolutely fumin over the result Lucie should no way of gone tonight

    Comment by claireseddon — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:55

  82. Simon is chasing is headlines and he must love the controversy he has caused. What he may have forgotten is how many children watch the show and what a role model he was to them. Explaining to my 8 year old tonight why he did what he did was very hard and involved explanations of people who lie, do things for their own ends and agendas and who are not what they seem. Shame on you Mr Cowell – my son has told me next week we are watching something, anything else.

    Comment by sally — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:55

  83. simon by making a decision which kills off the competition you have killed off your show as it is no longer about talent, just look at the thousands of comments on facebook and watch the ratings go down.
Lucie has talent she has grown so much and she will go far but not on a rigged show, shes a little star..take care Lucie, keep singing, keep following your dreams.

    Comment by jacqui — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:55

  84. I have watched X Factor from the start and have always admired Simons honest professional opinion, until tonight, he showed himself to be a two faced (only care about ratings,I want the best out so I can win) non-professional. Now have two choices turn off and never watch again or set up a mission to vote for Stacey and get his great acts out as he did Danie’s, views please

    Comment by Tricia Rose — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:55

  85. Don’t vote people. Let Cowell be stuck with Jedward, the only way you can teach these people a lesson is to stop bankrolling them.

    Comment by Denise Tansley — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:55

  86. Shame, shame, shame, If Simon could not make a Judgement on this, then should he judge at all.
X factor has lost the X, I will not watch this again,
Until there is a change of judges.

    Comment by martin — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:55

  87. I agree that tonights result was absolutely ridiculous. Simon has no back bone and should have made a decision. Danii has not made any mistakes. simon was supposed to judge it on the last performance. he definately did not do that. if is ridiculous. i hope they win now as it makes the whole show a joke as simon has done.x factor does not deserve xmas no 1

    Comment by claireseddon — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:56

  89. Tonight’s show has proved to me that the show is clearly a fix… I watch the x-factor as it’s exciting to see fantastic acts being discovered and getting their shot on stage. I will not be watching the show for the rest of the series as I couldn’t be bothered watching Simon contradict himself over and over (with Cheryl on his lap) and shattering the dreams of of TALENTED artists… WHAT A SHAM… YOUR WASTING THE MONEY OF THE PUBLIC WHO ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO VOTE…

    Comment by NG 1 — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:56

  90. Clearly Simon is getting bored; and now I am in him.

Twice in a row referring to the public vote when, under normal circumstances, he is a good judge of talent/ability and has no problem making decisions.

What a sad waste of time and energy and prefer if Simon disappear now off the show in lieu of a judge who is mentally stimulated in the process and opportunity for discovering talent. Or call it quits this season, while the show has some respect (just) still left. Look what happened to Big Brother…

    Comment by Lynn Dare — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:57

  91. I can’t believe that Lucie has left The X Factor! Simon Cowell has been trying 2 get rid of the twins since b4 the live shows even started, he had his chance 2nite and blew it. Lucie was the biggest threat 2 his category and he knew it! I hope Simon realises that by choosing 2 keep the twins in the competition he has now increased their chances of winning!Congratulations Simon, The X Factor is officially over!!

    Comment by Seren Jones — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:57

  92. what a joke john and edward are complete crap shouldnt even be on the show how can they vote lucy out over them 2 idiots get them off the show its a fix

    Comment by shane — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:57

  93. No point in watching this farce anymore. Lets see the public votes published because I believe they are fixed like so many TV shows. This show has lost all it’s integrity. Lucie is a brilliant singer and will make Simon eat his words. I had a lot of respect for you Mr Cowell but no more

    Comment by Garry — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:57

  94. what a cop out by the hypercritic Simon Cowel. he wanted the twins out was even going to leave the country if the twins made the final, he had a chance to send the twins home and chickened out. Lucie is one of the best singers in the competition she has talent unlike John and Edward. we will no longer watch i hope others follow and rating go drastically down.
    from 2 very disappointed viewers.

    Comment by dawn & Colin — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:58

  95. Simon its a poor job when you cant make a dission as a judge passing your vote to the public to knock out Lucy well now cheryl or no cheyrl i will not be watching any more

    Comment by dennis parker — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 21:58

  96. How come the last vote was simons? All judges should take it in turns? How can Simon say that the public made the choice? Everyone knows that the good perfotmers don’t always get the votes because people think they are safe!? Simon- you messed up big time! I’ve lost interest in x factor now, how many more feel the same

  99. what a joke!He should be ashamed! It was extremely obvious who the better singer was, Simon was just trying to save his own precious little boys cause he seen Lucie as a threat! Extremely pathetic! so much for it being a (quote from Simon) “singing competition”

  100. simon its all ur thought john and edward went through and poor lucie didnt she was much better than them IDIOTS, their KAREOKY singers they dont have talent there stupid twins all wat u said about them before and u put them through like a cow.:(

    Comment by peter — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:00

  101. i thought this was supposed to be a singing competition…john and edward are just taking the GOOD! singers places and dreams away and its not fair… simon even said that if they were in his group then he would refuse to take them… and then when he has a chance to get them out he dosent but this is because he knows how many votes are coming in for john and edward and he wants it to carrie on so he can get even more money… its stupid and the judges shouldn’t just be nice to john and edward because they feel bad for them … we know what you are thinking judges (except louie)that they cant sing and they dont like them they only like there personality… and louie shouldn’t even be a judge because he picked nearly all the wrong people to go to the live finals the only one he picked right was the 3 girls in it and thats y he only has one act left because he cant judge… and the argument he had with the presenter the other day was unfair how can he say that hes a judge and the presenter isnt … to be quite honest i think the presenter would make a better judge than him … so many people will stop watching the x factor now so i think the x factor should think again about this

    Comment by carly hemsley — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:01

  102. ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!!!! This is a singing contest!
I am done with X Factor and I personally think that this was on the cards the whole time… all Simon can see is money in his eyes for the little kids to see John and Edward who can not even dance in sync with each other!
I think we should boycott X Factor as it is no longer a talent show and watch Strictly!
    Terrible decision….

    Comment by Zara — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:01

  103. I have always respected Simon’s comments even against those who have said he was ‘nasty’ etc etc but tonight he lost all credibility, complete cop out! Well done Lucie for a wonderful performance, and well done Dannii for the great support you have given and your professionalism .. immense, shame but this must be the end of X factor!

    Comment by JS — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:02

  104. I have totally lost all respect for Simon Cowell (or is it Simon Coward?) After all of his comments in previous weeks it should have been inconceivable that he would support the two jokers from Ireland who cannot sing or dance but I guess his franchise earnings took precedent over talent. This shows that X Factor is really designed as a money earning exercise (for SC) rather than a real talent show. Clearly Mr Cowell has learnt from the Strictly John Seargant affair and knows that the real money earner is to get people to vote for who stays rather than voting for who should go otherwise J&E would have been out in the first week.

As an aside, at this stage of the series it starts to grate when the judges obviously denegrate acts to try to favour their own acts eg Ollie is one of the best acts but the comments of Lois, Danni and Cheryl were so obviously laden with subterfuge that it would have been laughable if it had not been so serious for the contestants.

    Comment by D taylor — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:02

  105. My family and I have loved watching this from the start, but I’m afraid that after tonight’s nonsense, we won’t be doing so any more. We feel so upset for Lucie – and have lost all faith in Simon Cowell. The show has totally lost its integrity.
By the way, I never usually blog. I just felt so angry, I had to tonight.

    Comment by heather — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:02

    Comment by isobel — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:03

  108. It is so obvious that Simon will do anything to win – he sees Lucie as a threat to his act so he forgets his morals and hypocritcally opts out of getting rid of the terrible twins who he has slatted since they first appeared. I am deciding whether to turn off or encourage people not to vote for Simon’s acts. This is too much from him.

    Comment by Roro — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:04

  109. Simon Cowell just ended X Factor. How many times has he said this is a singing competetion – we will judge it on this performance etc etc unfortunately the pound signs blurred his vision – Good Night and Goodbye X-Factor

  111. Simon, you had your chance to make the show back into a SINGING contest, you sold out for more ratings, I thought you were an honest guy with an eye for talant, but you should be ashamed of what you did tonight, you went against everything you said about the twins over the past weeks. Just made a joke of the show, its name, the results and its future. Good luck lucy.

    Comment by Tommy — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:05

    Comment by Jordan — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:05

  113. What a farce, all series Simon hasn’t had a good word to say about the talentless twins and he goes and saves them over Lucie, this isn’t a singing competition it is a popularity contest that is making a mockery of our talented stars. X Factor is going down the same road as Big Brother.

    Comment by Lucy — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:05

  114. Oh dear! Simon I have often thought you blunt to the point of rudeness, but never devious or cowardly.Your poor Mother has mopre to be ashamed of than you ‘teatime comments’.I am all for judges voting as they think just( even if I disagree) but please don’t add lying to your crimes by saying that is what you did.You have seriously affected Lucies’ future-shame on you! Also ,pay attention to your own acts-where was jamies’ poppy?

    Comment by ann kears — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:06

  115. Simon, I thought you were smart. But you got too smart for your own good this time. People aren’t stupid. Well, not entirely. Hopefully, the ensuing row will not focus on Jedward, but on your cynical manipulation of the public. People – we need to switch off next week’s show. Simon needs to remember he works for us – not the other way round.

    Comment by Janet — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:07

    Comment by Mrs Fletcher-Hall — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:07

  118. Simple Simon has made a farce of a great show, — again.

I will watch the show for the rest of this season, hopefully to see his arrogant, stupid decision come back to bite him on the backside and then never again.

I think all Lucie supporters should now get behind the twins and teach him a lesson.

After this week I think the fiX Factor has run its course.

Great comment by Michael Mandley above, the the answer after tonight must be a big YES.

    Comment by Steve. F — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:08

  119. I think that it is absaloutley disgusting what happened tonight AGAIN . This is meant to be a singing competition about the best singer and JEDWORD are still in yet they are tone deaf and cant sing to save themselves , it has turned into a complete FARCE and i wont be voteing no more neither will our family, i can pretty much say i`ll be banning X-FACTOR in our house from now on. Sad considering it is good to watch but looking at jedward is like looking ata car crash , you want a look but not involved.

    Comment by Tony — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:08

  122. Simon’s final words before the sing off were something along the lines of ”past aside its how they sing that matters….” Obviously not. Really annoyed that the show has become more concerned with controversy than finding great singers.

Let’s boycott the boys and make Simon regret playing the fool.

    Comment by Jason — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:08

  123. I have always admired Simon for his honesty in telling contestants they have no talent, when they are clearly rubbish, but what happened tonight?
Lucie is the best singer in the show and Simon did not want her as competition, Mr Cowell knows Jedward are rubbish but did not have the bottle to get rid because he knows that they do not offer any real competition to his acts, it will be interesting to see the viewing figures next week as this show is now a total farce
    GOODBYE X FACTOR

    Comment by Neil Jones — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:09

  126. Simon Cowell is the only winner! Fix fix fix fix fix! The twins were drowned out by backing track, was I the only one to notice? Also, all this talk about what nice boys they are, and how hard they’re working, what 17 year oldsters wouldn’t if they were in their place. No charisma and no talnet = no future! Having said that I’d live them to win just to see Simon’s face! Bye bye X Factor, Hello Strictly! X

  128. Simon, always respected you but tonight you’ve gone too far. Your integrity has been surpassed by your greed. Won’t be watching again. Hope other loyal X-factor viewers will follow suit and turn over to show that you can’t disrespect the public without paying the price.

    Comment by Fraps — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:10

  129. Simon Cowell proved tonight that he is willing to go to any lengths to keep his acts in the show. He contradicted all his previous comments about the twins by putting it to the public vote. He was afraid to save Lucie because he knew that she was the biggest threat to his acts.

The Xfactor has now become a mockery and will probably lose viewers because of his decision.

    Comment by Linda Lewis — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:10

  130. Simon, you and your stupid show are no longer “relevant”. Lucie has a future, I hope xfactor does not. I also hope this means that Lucie can pursue her own career without Simon being involved.

  131. I have watched, followed, admired his honesty and supported Simon Cowell’s X Factor journey since the day it started all those years ago(much to the amusement of my friends I might add!)but tonight it ends!!! Everybody in their right mind including simon cowell knows those twins should never have been put into the live shows, simon has made his feelings known every single week, so what the hell was tonight all about. He has made a complete mockery of the whole show, he has destroyed any admiration I had for him and the show and I will never, ever watch the show again. I am sure I am not the only one that feels this way and I will put money on the fact that simon cowell has just destoyed the x factor!

    Comment by LD — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:11

  132. What the hell was simon doing, talk about looking for raings rather than talent he knows these two idiots will now get more press attention and this will boost ratings on the show.

But come on simon you have hated them along and had the chance to remove them tonight and backed down!! As for loui how can he sit there and judge others telling them there no good when he has the only ac who cant sing…get real guys i hope john and edward go next week to end this rubbish so we can get back to the show we all use to love.

  135. I have been a big fan of X factor over the years but tonight what I thought was a singing competition was reduced to a farce. Each week the competitors look to Simon for his comments, but this week he demonstrated that he is only in it for the money. By taking it to the public vote this week he has lost all credibility and from now on our family will not be voting or watching this fiasco – what a waste of time!!!

    Comment by graham edwards — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:14

  136. X Factor is a joke! EVERY WEEK SIMON HAS WANTED THEM OUT AND HE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET THEM OUT! As for Louie he is an tw*t!!!

Ok everyone who thinks this was wrong should not tune into the xfactor any more I will not the only way to hit Simon Cowell is in his pocket and that means that if people dont watch the rateings wil drop come on people lets go!!!!!! He has said all along the twins have no talent and they cant sing I use to repect Simon for his knowlege but not any more this show is turning into a farse and I will not be part of it Its all wrong WHAT IS GOING ON ?

  138. I have been completely addicted to x Factor this year – now I know why I haven’t been hooked before to this or similar programmes. Tonight’s programme was a farce and a complete disgrace. I WILL NEVER BE WATCHING AGAIN. The only way the programme can redeem itself is to allow Lucie back in the competition following the public outrage tonight’s programme has caused. One day – if there is any justice in this world – Simon will get his comeuppance. I urge the public and the advertisers to vote with their feet,

  139. well done Simon! you have at last shown your true colours to the nation who line your pockets so generously. you are a complete fraud, you slate Jedward each week but being one of the producers of the show you have to give the go ahead for the production of each act, each week. so to make up for the terrible singing you spend a fortune on their act, why is that! then when you have the oppotunity to get rid of the act you have been slating each week in this “singing competition” you go to the public vote knowing full well that Jedward are getting a freak vote and that a very good singer, lucie, will come bottom. good news for your acts as she was probably the one to give them a run for your money. Cowell you are a fraud and i will never give you any of my money again. goodbye X Factor.

    Comment by Simon L — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:14

  140. I am totally and absolutely discusted by Simon Cowell tonight, what he did was make X factor a complete farce and is so two faced its unbelievable. I was a fan of his for always saying what we all thought, but tonight he went back on that and knew Lucy would lose the public vote. He just knew she was the biggest threat to his precious boys, and ruthlessly removed her from the competition. He knew he made a mistake, just watching him drinking all that water… Well done Simon, you have ruined the x factors credibility as in your words a SINGING COMPETITION….

    Comment by Beth — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:14

  141. Big Mistake Mr Cowell.. You may be of the opinion that the british audiences are thick, but we can all see what your plan was tonight…its a shame for your acts but am afraid that they may just see a backlash from the public next week and you may find two of your acts in the bottom two and it will be only one smug persons fault… but hey, Let the public decide !!!

    Comment by Andy Cooke — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:15

  142. STOP WATCHING AND VOTING EVERYONE! I’m very tempted to vote Jedward to teach Mr C a lesson but LET’S NOT CONTINUE TO LINE MR COWELL’S POCKETS. If we all do this let’s see how much the ratings drop. Lucie showed poise and dignity tonight as well as a great voice.

    Comment by Kay — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:16

  143. I always respected Simon and believed he told it as it was but after last week and now this week that respect has gone. I cannot believe that 2 weeks running he has in away saved the worst singer in the sing off.
I will not be watching X Factor after this week and I´m sure my opinion wont matter much but I feel the show has lost it´s magic and it´s honesty.

    Comment by Peter Manning — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:16

  144. Simon Cowell is an absolute disgrace. He has cheated with his song choices and now it confirms he will do anything for publicity for the show and to make sure he wins by voting off the ’strong’ singers. He knew exactly what he was doing and he relished the fact that he had the deciding decision – why wasnt he asked his choice first and let Cheryl have the deciding choice??
I’m a celebrity, get me out of here starts next week – stick him in the jungle for some publicity – that should wipe the smarmy look off his face!!!
    Won’t be watching again.
Good luck with your career Lucie!
    FURIOUS!

    Comment by Caroline Jones — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:16

  145. For those who didn’t know before x factor is not a talent contest it is a contest for tv ratings (= advertising revenues) this has always been reasonably well hidden by tv execs. But tonight was the night that the shameless greed of Simon Cowell and his production company (SiCo) was exposed along with any integrity he had left. A sad night for all x factor fans and poor Lucie Jones in the way of the Simon Cowell Greedy commercial express. Simon I doubt, but hope you or your people are reading all of these threads and understand you reall ****** up this time. I will be switching off, I had to explain this crazy decision to my 4 kids which ruined their love of the show and Simon.

    Comment by matt — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:16

  146. Go to America Simon Take the X Factor with you. Oh sorry that’s what you were planning anyway wasn’t it. You must think we are all stupid. We’ll some of us aren’t and we won’t be watching anymore. Some will still watch and vote for Jedward but they’ll be the same mindless morons who will vote Labour at the next election

    Comment by Garry — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:17

  147. Simon wants to win so bad he uses tactical voting to protect his guys – who really don’t matter to him. They’re just toys right now. What he hasn’t considered is what people may well do now. Those that are angry will probably vote for Jedward and now they stand a better chance than ever of winning the competition even though no one will actually buy their records. Simon has lost whatever happens now.

    Comment by Cheshire Mortgage Broker — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:17

  148. I have always had so much respect for Simon Cowell…until tonight. He has gone on for weeks about it being a singing competition and how he would leave the country if John & Edward won and when he has the chance to back up those commens by getting rid of them he bottles it! Could it be that he just wants to protect his own acts from a really good singer or more likely that he just has to be the centre of attention and cause controversy for viewing ratings?? Lucy – you didn’t deserve to go and Simon should be ashamed!!

    Comment by Richard — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:17

  149. well well it seems simon has finaly showed the public what a total farce he and the X factor have become. he spends weeks slagging off Jedward stating it is a singing competition then totally cops out when he has the chance to vote them off. He is a total WAN— and I will not be watching this crass farce of a show again. He obviously has no talent as a judge but plenty as being a manipulator.
All respect to Danii who is the only judge with credability.

    Comment by Lucie — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:17

  150. forgot to add that in addition to fact it is about rating and not talent, it is also about the jusdges getting at each other and not about the talented contestents

  151. Who will ever want to watch that pompous ass Simon bloody Coward ever again. It’s about time ITV got rid of him

    Comment by Tim Grant — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:18

  152. OJ. Enough is enough.I have supported Jedward for a couple of weeks cos I thought they had great entertainment value. A kind of antidote to the cockiness of Danyl. Simon’s tactics tonight have proven him to be a cynical operator. Two innocent wannabees from Lucan could prove the death knell to viewing figures for X factor.
Cowell had opportunity to put his money where his mouth was by voting Jedward off. The British public may now punish him by not voting for his obviously talented acts to punish him, thereby paving the way for a Jedward to win. The death knell of X factor has just sounded…..

  158. John and edward should stand down. Its no use hugging Lucie as if she’s your new best friend when you know you have only been kept in to boost the money that rolls in from your soppy little fans who wouldn’t know decent singing if they heard it. One post said Jeward were ‘fun’ – you could have more fun and hear better noises if you spent your evening throwing bricks at the local cats!!!”

    Comment by Geraldine Mitchell — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:19

  159. X factor……What a load of rubbish. Is this simons ploy all along to get out of this ridiculous farce of a show. It makes a mockery of people who are talented. Simon completly insulted Lucie by comparing her to those two little geeks. What’s simon’s motto – they can’t sing, they sure as hell can’t dance – but like a couple of puppets they’ll go a long way. Will no longer be watching x factor. Hope your ratings suck!!!!

    Comment by Laura — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:19

  160. I have lost all respect for Simon, what a hypocrite, He said he was gonna judge on who gave the best performance, then took that opportunity to cop out , so that it gives one of his acts more chane to win. He knew, she couldve been a threat. This show seems to be about the JUDGES and NOT the performers, its obvious with all the bitchy comments on who has all three acts still left. I will not be watching this show ever again, its shambolic. Watch out Joe he’ll be after you next cos you are the best thing on that show. Simon you have lost the plot.

    Comment by Dianne Baker — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:20

  161. Having mentors on the show is to help the contestents find their sound, coach them mentally and proffesionally. Having the judges on the show, is meant to be for giving their opinion and to choose out of the bottom two. Not so they can put the decision back to the public. Maybe it’s time we lost a judge? Deadlock can no longer be a decision for any of the judges.

    Comment by Strictly — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:20

  162. Simon Cowell you are a cop out. From day one you have let it be known that John and Edward cannot sing. Tonight Lucie, who can sing, went, due to your pathetic ratings war. Because you did not have the guts to speak your mind this contest has turned into a weekly farce. Every week one good singer goes, tonight you had the opportunity to turn this around and for it to start getting back to a music contest.
    Ratings war v music contest!!!!!!!!!!

    Comment by Judith — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:21

  163. I have never made a comment about a tv show but tonight made me so angry. Simon Cowell and the show lost all credibilty. He has slated the twins for weeks and said they can’t sing and also said he would judge it on tonight’s performance. Anyone who watched the show knows Lucie was the better singer. Simon Cowell sacrificed a talented singer who deserved better. Think on Simon what about your duty to Lucie? I have nothing against the twins but now won’t watch again which is a shame as I like the other acts particularly Ollie whom I feel is very talented, as are all the others. I fear now the show will be remembered for the wrong reasons. I loved the show because it allowed people such as Leona Lewis to fulfil their dreams and become household names, Lucie has now been denied that so it destroys the ethos of the show. The x factor is now the joke factor. One step too far SC- switch off, switch over or go out- the British Public are not stupid and have a sense of fair play. Show it by not watching.

    Comment by M Bolton — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:21

Disgraceful…. you are a laughing stock Simon!

    Comment by Brandon — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:22

  165. I can’t believe it simon is such a idiot Lucie was totally better than jedward and now I’m not going to watch x factor anymore as it is not a singing competition. Simon slagging off jedward for the past weeks and wanted them out of the competition from the beginning, he had a chance to get rid of them but didn’t because of tactical voting as lucie was more of a threat to his acts than jedward. Total disgrace!!!

    Comment by Marty — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:23

  166. I can’t believe the injustice of this result – Simon Cowell you should be ashamed with yourself. I think you were worried that Lucy would be to much competition for your remaining acts and Leona Lewis!!! Gutted!!!

    Comment by clare Foulkes — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:23

  167. I cannot believe what happened on xfactor 2nite! Lucy was the reason I watched it every week! I hope Simon gets lots of complaints about his decision! I’m sooo annoyed with him 2nite!!

    Comment by Andrea — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:23

  168. This is Simon Cowell’s competition….he is a business man guys! He wants to save his acts for his own selfish business reasons. He knew that sending home Lucie will be less a threat to his own acts, piss Dannii who he hates right off the show and keep the laugh factor of the twins going to keep the ratings up. Good business sense Cowell but shocking talent factor – there aint no factor now in x factor…

    Comment by Trace — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:24

  169. Why do people think that voting for Jedward to win will cost Cowell money?

Leon Jackson won and he had no talent either.

    Comment by Realistic — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:24

  170. Simon, You have not done yourself any favour’s. Your decision was purely based on financial gain, trying to get more of us to vote next week. I hope people boycott your show in droves because that is the only way you will reflect on what you have done. Diabolical!!! We are not watching any more.

    Comment by Disgusted of Shropshire — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:24

  171. me and my family are absolutely appalled we have always valued and backed simons judgement through the years but the last 2 weeks especially this week his decisions have been absoulutley awfull to be honest. mabye simon needs to take a long hard look at what he is doing , we appreciate that every week someone has to go but we dont like it when good singers that do actually deserve to be in the compitition get knocked out when bad singers like john and edward are still getting through . they should be on britains got talent tbh bcoz thats for entertainers dont worry lucie we all know your amazing and we can see you have got a good futre ahead of you and same for you last week racheal and oh same for cheryls rikki ho went out a few weeks ago – simon you need to open your eyes and clean your ears , the show is loosing alot of fans by your decisions :)

  172. VOTE JEDWARD OR SWITCH OFF!!mr cowell has made a fool of us all its time to turn the tables. Good luck to Lucy and all the contestants the disgust is not towards them. Danni was very gracious in defeat and I respect her the most as a judge she must be gutted she had done a great job with all her girls and has been stitched uP (ALONG WITH THE REST OF US FOR WATCHING!)

    Comment by ruth — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:25

  173. Surely the judges vote was so that if the public thought someone was safe and they ended up in the bottom two the judges were there as a safety net to save the talented one, well simon didn’t do that tonight he then tried to blame the public for not voting, I think the public felt Lucy was safe and the shock of her being in the bottom two against those twins should have been enough for him to be able to save her and send the twins home especially after all his slagging them off week after week, what a joke, not interested in watching again, he has lost all crediblility and so has the show….. if they had gone to simon before cheryl she would have had the guts to vote them off not turn it to deadlock again… if it had been one of his in the bottom two against them and one of the other judges had gone to deadlock, simon would have been as angry as the rest of us….

    Comment by Karen — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:25

  174. The problem with this show is the fact that the judges are also the mentors. Give the job of mentors to other people and let the judges judge the acts on talent alone without having alternative motives for putting someone through. Right now this isnt a talent competion its an opportunity for the judges to get one over on each other and it doesnt matter that they crush some of the people with real talent in the meantime just to make sure its there act that wins (even if it is the terrible twins )

    Comment by Andy Cooke — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:25

  175. YES, go JEDWARD!! Your the Irish Chicos, who else is everyone going to vote for in this competition? Boring Daniel? Pub singer Jamie? The two pretty boys? The pramface essex girl?

    Comment by Seamus — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:26

  176. I totally agree with everyones comments that Lucie should have stayed and the gruesome twosome go. She should never have been in the sing off. Should have been the twit twins and Lloyd. But you have to bear in mind that Lucie did get the lowest number of the public vote. So it’s the public that are not voting for the better singers!

    Comment by zoe — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:27

  177. Everyone connected with this farce which should be renamend The Simon Cowell Show seemed to hold Simon in such awe that he is allowed to get away with whatever he likes. He is not judging, he is manipulating. He is not motivated by what is fair and just even though he professes this week after week. His fellow judges are his puppets they should walk away and set up their own talent show. Cheryl, Danni and Louie would make a great team, watchable, fair, honest and modest. I too will no longer be watching any production associated with Simon.

  179. After tonights farce, none of the other singers are safe.Simon Cowell is all mouth and no spunk; having slagged off Jedward time and again, he should have stood by his word and voted as he said he would on the best act, which is supposed to be a SINGING CONTEST;! Lucy was a million times better than tone dead Jedward, and he didn’t have the guts to do what he sits there every week to do and that is JUDGE. People should now rally behind Jedward & help them win. Explain that away Judas-Simon, yes tonight Simon you were Lucy’s JUDAS!!!

  183. I dont see why everyone is attacking poor James and Edward its not there fault that they are being voted through by the public every week. As for simon cowell i think he was right to go to deadlock and let the public decide the poor man wouldnt have won the praise of the public no matter what he did if he had voted the twins off then he would have been given out to as well. I think the twins are great, as a fellow Irish person i am proud to stand alongside them and say we r irish. i hope they are in it for weeks to come. They are a great inspiration i may even try ot for x factor myself next year. Give the poor guys a break they are only young and they dont deserve and slander from the public. They shouldnt have to put up with bullying. I will be watching ye next week and every week as usual. love the twins. COME ON THE IRISH!!!!

  188. I’ve lost all respect for this show after tonight. Simon is an idiot. His ego is too big for his own good. It’s all tactical. He believes one of his acts will win, and they probably will because he will fix it or vote off all those that are a potential threat.

    Comment by ex-factor viewer — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:32

  189. Simon Cowell is a hypocrite and has lost all credibility as a “talent scout”. Having spent weeks saying this is a singing competition and Jedward cannot sing (something I completely agree with), he had his chance to get rid of them, and didn’t take it. Utterly ridiculous!! He deserves the slating he gets from the public and I’m looking forward to his acts leaving very soon – beaten of course by Jedward!!!

    Comment by Clare — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:32

  190. We will never watch this programme again. We would rather watch strictly come dancing and that is sad. Simon said he would vote on tonight’s performance. how could he have voted against lucy and allowed 2 clowns who leap about the stage and their dreadful singining is only coverd up by backing groups. they should have been made to stand their and sing tonight by themselves. But they can’t. the only job they would get would be as clowns at butlins.

    Comment by chris firth — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:35

  191. This years X-factor could have been one of the most engaging, enjoyable and talent filled shows ever. There is some extremely talented individuals in this years production, however, Simons Cowells quest for self publicity has meant the very talented Lucie Jones has given way to the talentless “deadwood” (no mis-spelt). At times like this I am grateful I do not pay my license fee for such a farce. I will be leading anyone who wants to follow, to quit the show and make the idiot cowell seek other avenues to boost his ego. I will never watch another Cowell production again

    Comment by Martin — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:35

  192. In all previous years we have never had , so many deadlocks, which in themselves are a complete cop out. We all know that particularly early on in the show people don’t tend to vote and assume their favourite will go through. That is the point of the judges vote, and that is the only point to have the judges to show some integrity in terms of who has the potential to be a real star. Simon copped out last week and big time this week. To save his acts and to try and maintain the popularity of the show. But it will back fire. This is the biggest farce and it such a shame that the biggest talent on the show, Lucie, has to suffer because of the ego of Simon Cowell. I have totally lost faith in the show and will now either vote for JEdward or not watch at all.

    Comment by Sally — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:36

  193. Simon,

With your blind arrogance, greed and stupid cowardice you may have done for the X Factor tonight, what Gerald Ratners notorious speech did for his jewellery chain.

I for one very much hope so.

I think people should now vote for Jedward this year then NEVER wach or vote again.

    Teach Simple Simon a lesson.

    Comment by Luci Fan — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:39

  197. Like that was not on the books to happen. How anyone can watch the show (unfortunately I’m forced to watch it because my wife and daughter do) It’s the Simon and Cheryl show and anyone that can see that is just plan old blind. You can see Simon almost salivating over her next to him.

It’s always been a farce to anyone not wrapped up in it. Tonight it was laid out naked for all to see.

“we will judge on this performance.”
    “it’s a singing contest”
    “It’s a talent show”

well, he should be a politician, he is really good at telling the public what they want to hear and then performing his own agenda.

I would like to thank Mr Cowell, both daughter and wife no longer will be watching the show, I now have my TV back on a Saturday evening. Plus my phone bill will be cheaper. I just had to find an x factor forum and let you know. Many thanks.

    Comment by Fred — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:40

  198. This year has seen the highest standard of contenders to the x factor prize but sadly there is a definate whiff of cheating. By not voting Simon Cowell has yet again been responsible for sending home the better singer. Why is he a judge?
He passes the buck with gleeful arrogance and an ugly smirk, knowing what the outcome will be.
This is not about music, it is about Simon. This is not about finding talent, it is about making money for Simon. This is not about giving singers a chance, it is about giving Simon a chance to show his power.
I feel very sorry for the remaining contenders, even John & Edward. They are being used quite horribly. I feel sorry for the other judges who are also being used and made a mockery of. Most of all Simon has insulted the intelligence of the viewers. I hope the viewers will now judge Simon by switching over to ‘Strictly’ as I will be doing from now on.

  200. I thought his show was all about supporting british talent. Totally mystifying result and grubby manipulation of results by Cowell. We have decided not to watch any further shows.

  201. I was devastated that such unfairness had taken place this evening and I have resolved not to watch future shows of X Factor out of protest and a genuine feeling that I could not and would not tolerate malicious behaviour of the sort that occurred tonight. Simon Cowell has proved that money and ratings matter more than individuals. (The Recession has shown us that money is transient and it is people that are the only true constant.) This man has behaved in a truly nasty and self-centred way and has no other consideration than his own self-serving ambition. Come on UK we are the nation that epitomises FAIR PLAY. We, I know are better than this and should boycott Cowell’s show on mass! I am certainly heartened by the other comments that have appeared on this blog. It certainly preserves one’s faith in humanity to see that so many of us deplore injustice of this kind.I personally will be sampling what the balanced and fair-minded BBC has to offer next Saturday evening!

    Comment by Arty — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:43

  202. Simon Cowell has gradually been alienating himself with everyone including his fellow judges – If could not make a decision based on tonights performance then clearly he didnt listen to the performances – Lucy was 100 times better than J&E and I think even Louis would have voted for her if he had not been mentoring the twins. I remember him saying at the first audition “this is why we come to Wales” – well I suggest he does not come here again because there will be no welcome in the hillside for him. The fact that Lucy will not be in the final just goes to show that showmanship wins over talent every time – Simon should know because that is all he has

  203. Simon I hope you read all these comments and realise that you are an arrogant turd with bad hair!

    Comment by Alex Smith — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:44

  204. Appalling. After having said all the way through the series that it is a “singing” contest Simon showed himself to be a total hypocrite!! The show is a farce!!

    Comment by Jane — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:44

  205. Absolute waste of time watching the X-Factor tonight and shall not watch it again. What is the point of having the judges make a decision when two of them will vote for their own regardless if their’s was the worst pointless vote. Then you have Simon who has been moaning about Jedwood from week 1, saying is it is a singing contest and then keeps them in. Lloyd and Jedwood should have been the bottom two. No point having the judges make a decision might as well cut the programme by 15 mins and go by public vote. I hope after tonight the public will vote all other contestants but Simon’s. How would he have felt if one of his boys was knocked out and Jedwood survived – I doubt he would be pleased. Used to agree with your comments Simon but now you have lost the plot.

    Comment by Jo — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:44

  206. What an utter farce, and most likely a fix. To have Jedward still in this “talent” competition over Lucie is some sort of sick twisted joke, and i bet Simon is the one laughing the loudest. That is until he realises how loud the public outcry is. He probably tried to be smart, to maintain the controversy and thus viewer ratings, but this has to be the dumbest of moves for a usually very shrewd mover.

The idea of plucking talented and hopeful people out of obscurity and offering them the slim chance of a new incredible life is one of the things that made X-Factor so great. What a terrible shame for Lucie, who has had that dream taken away in the most unfair of ways. It is particularly sad that she started to cry, almost in anticipation of the axe, before the result came out.

I admire Jedward for coming out fighting every week despite the regular mauling they take from the press. Good on them i say, but it still doesn’t change the fact that they are behind the rest of the pack on talent by a long mile. The marketability of the twins is limited due to their lack of talent – perhaps a few cheesy songs or a lame and childish album at best. Their best bet would be to say “It’s a fair cop guv, we don’t cut the mustard” and resign in a dignified manner. They would probably gain a huge amount of public respect and admiration, which in turn would enahnce their saleability and profile in the process. Better this than they knock out other talented hopefuls next week. Either way, i for one won’t be watching.

PS. The fact that Louie turned round at one point during the booing of Jedward’s performance to give someone in the crowd the V’s, is deplorable. I hope he is suitably reprimanded and made to apologise, if not resign his privileged and influential position.

    Comment by ABS — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:46

  207. Look at what you’ve done Simon! Hiding behind the fact that “the public voted” is not going to work on this one. This year clearly isn’t about the singing and makes this show a drama, a good replacement for Trisha perhaps. What are you doing there as a judge if you can’t decide who the better vocal is between Lucie and Jedward (no disrespect boys)? I was going to do a whole “when you look in the mirror” speech, and then remembered….you wont take anything in that way, as you most likely just stand there in your tight top and smile. You’re famous for being “lovely” to people. Hope the house in LA is comfy. Good luck Simon

    Comment by Steel — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:46

  208. I can’t believe what happened tonight!!! I have nothing against the twins as people, but they are on the wrong show. Lucie has a beautiful voice and I thought she would go on to win. Simon only put it to the public vote as she was the biggest threat to him and he knew the vote would go to the twins! I like Jamie but now I really hope one of Simon’s act don’t win. I am still shaking with rage over this stupid decision. It is a sad night for me as I used to look forward so much to this programme but can now NEVER WATCH IT AGAIN. Lucie if you are reading this, just to let you know that I will buy your records, you have REAL TALENT. You had a lucky escape really as now you won’t have stupid Simon Cowell as your manager, but someone who sees you for the talent you really are and not just as a cash register!! Goodbye X Factor it was nice knowing you, pity it didn’t last.

  209. I dont get out much Im a pensioner and Xfacter was one of my favourite programmes, It was a disgrace what happened tonight the two grown up men are like kids espescialy that Louie ,I have two sons and if they behaved like that they would have got a slap round the earhole. I feel so sorry for Lucie I just want to give her a hug ,She is brilliant and she will get on without there help, I feel sorry for the twins it is not there fault.SORRY BUT I WILL NOT BE WATCHING X FACTOR AGAIN.

    Comment by Irene Thomson — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:47

  210. Simon Cowell’s decision today confirmed something that started to dawn on me last week, when he left the decision to the public vote and allowed Rachel to be dropped. The X Factor is not truly a singing contest, as he claims, but a money-making programme, and Cowell’s decisions are designed to maximize the publicity (good or bad, it doesn’t matter in show business), the viewing numbers, and the advertising revenue. He is sacrificing the hopes, dreams and careers of truly talented people in order to enhance his own wealth. It is disgusting.

    Comment by Karen — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:47

  211. Is this becoming the Simon and Cheryl Show, he shows no support for Danni as he is afraid of the competition, there is no way John & Edward should still be in this contest.
Lucie might not have won the X-Factor but she was a very talented singer, even Simple Simon said that Lucie had finally found herself, then he destroys her, what chance do any of the other acts stand as he make comments about the others, but really praises his own.
Simon Cowell YOU WILL BE THE LOSER IN THE END!!!!!!

    Comment by Michael — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:47

  212. Simon, you have ruined this year’s show and cheated the British public by your hypocritical behaviour. Why bother to have “the judge’s vote” if you aren’t honest. Tonight’s decision was self-indulgent and borne out of business. You are systematically trying to undermine the confidence of all other acts instead of making a fair and encouraging critique. Stop standing to applaud your act every time. You have turned this year’s series into a personal and selfish crusade to have the winning artist. The other judges are far more objective. If the people are to decide, let’s not have mentors. The American version seems a lot fairer.

    Comment by Graham — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:49

  213. If Simon feels it should be down to the public then so be it ….. LET’S ALL VOTE FOR JEDWARD!!!! THE LOOK ON SIMON’S FACE WILL BE PRICELESS WHEN THEY WIN!!!! P.S. have any of the judges actually exercised judgement yet??????????????????

    Comment by Wusie — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:50

  214. Huge mistake by Simon,
He said the judges would decide the result of the bottom two by their performance. This is a singing show – the best singer was Lucie by a mile.
Simon has ruined a brilliant show – now we are voting for John & Edward to win !!

    Comment by Ken & Sue — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:50

  215. I support Simon and his decision – its consistent with the truth that X factor is little to do with talent and everything to do with opportunism and egos – all he has done is to keep that up – so why criticise the man????

    Comment by paul — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:51

  216. Simon Cowell has just lost my respect, the voting tonight was a complete sham. He clearly wants to get rid of the competion as Lucie was a strong contender.I thought Simon was a professional and I valued his opinions, after tonights farce I have lost all faith in the program. Strickly Come Dancing here I come!

  217. Always respected Simon Cowell’s opinion – but not any more. What a hypocrite. Watched X factor from the very beginning – switching off now.

    Comment by Christine — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:53

  218. People on here are calling Simon a hypocrite and a fool for the way he voted tonight. A hypocrite he may be, but a fool he certainly is not. Lucie’s departure guarantees contoversy which means more publicity for the X Factor. It also removes a serious threat to his own acts. It’s what you call a win win situation for the very astute Mr Cowell.

To make matters fair in future, the ’sing off’ should be scrapped and the public votes for each contestant should be announced live on tv.

    Comment by dave — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:54

  219. I voted for Lucie Jones!

The only way I will ever watch X factor again, is if you bring Lucie Jones back or sack Simon Cowell!!!

I hope ITV reads all these comments, cause everyone is so right!

    Comment by Charnelle — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:56

  220. I cannot believe what I have just witnessed. Simon you really should have the understanding that you are not BIGGER than the British public. There is no way I will be watching any more if that is the least I can do to show you Simon my complete and utter contempt for your deceiption.

    Comment by Helen Rule — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:57

  221. Ha Ha Ha! – what a joke. We are all being manipulted like sheep. Its got nothing to do with the contestants talent – its all about the judges. To be honest, I am ashamed of myself for even getting worked up about it. I hope the twins win it now, beating Danyl in the final – but someone will have to tell me because I will never watch the show again.

    Comment by Richard — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:57

  222. I’m with all the other Ex X Factor Viewers……. Even though I stil love Ollie, Stacey and Joe and wish them the best. I WILL NEVER AGAIN watch X Factor. Simon Cowell (Who I always thought was great for speaking his mind) did a total U turn for no apparent reason. it’s obvious that in some way he thinks this will benefit the show by creating the controversy. I will be overjoyed if the ratings and voting plummeted due his TOTAL STUPIDITY. It makes a mockery of all the people who have wasted their money voting…

    Comment by Ex X Factor Eve — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:57

  223. What can I say after tonights result – Simon Cowell obviously thinks the British public are a bunch of mindless idiots. He has made this program into a total farce. Talent obviously has no bearing on the result despite the “This is a singing competition” comment we have heard week after week. Anything you say now Simon, will be shown up as the money making scheme you are proporting as a Talent Show. This was one step too far. The other judges should also be ashamed of themselves for being associated with this hypocritical charade. I for one will never watch this debacle anymore.

    Comment by NJ — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 22:59

  224. Guess who….

If they win, it will be a complete and utter disaster,” he said. “I’d probably sulk for about six months [and] get on a very fast plane out of the country.”

  227. lucy was fantastic tonight as always. last week simon cowell said that she was great. tonight she was better.
cheryl cole said that she can sing, so she should have been given the final vote. How silly of me, she doesn’t or cannot influence the vote like cowell. He has made a fortune by keeping the clowns in. Don’t care, will not watch again. he should be over ruled by the judges. hope that this is the last series of x factor with cowell as a judge.

    Comment by GEMMA — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 23:04

  228. Simon Cowell is an absolute moron – a completely egotistical idiot! He just let Lucie lose, she is probably

the most polished and competent performer out of anyone in the show! In fact I felt she was in a league of her own! he is such an idiot! Basically he saw how much media attention the twins were getting and over the past two weeks has been aligning himself with them and no doubt in his world of
Ego fantasy will probably even take the credit for finding them. He is a complete egomaniac! The twins are nice kids but an absolute farce as a credible act. He has just made X factor into an even bigger farce. What talented musicians would put themselves through the humiliation of
losing against two irish nerds who can’t sing. X Factor lost its last shreds of integrity tonight and is now a complete farce. Simon was also disgustingly rude, shaming and appalling

    Comment by anouska — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 23:04

  229. Simon’s decision this evening to send Lucy home was purely commercial in the short term, intended to cause controversy, boost viewing figures and was completely hypocritical.

Whilst the judges have a say in who goes through it should be based on singing ability, as Simon has said (when it suites him) “the public vote doesn’t always reflect the right result”.

I’m confused; are we watching Britain’s Got Talent or X Factor? Or has Simon decided to mix both together.

Sadly, Simon’s decision this evening to put John & Edward through lost my vote to support future shows and was the last my house hold will watch!!!

If Simon’s decision was in fact the right one tonight, it would be poetic justice if John & Edward went on to win X Factor! Which, would result in the shows producers losing millions based on income return against investment.

Shame on Danni and the other contestants for not being more honest this evening, but it’s tough to condem a major error in judgement by the man who pays your wages and or who is perceived to be able to make or break your career.

Perhaps the most ontroversial decision made on X Factor to date, has been to allow the man who owns the show and will profit most from revenue created by the show, to be “A JUDGE”??

Lucy came of age last week and this week – she has a real future as recording artist/performer, I just pray it wil not be with Syco (Simon) records.

    Comment by Paul West — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 23:05

  230. What a complete farce – wake up people. How can the show genuinly be about talent when the judges view it as a competition between themselves as well – its been like this since the show started.

Boo and hiss all you want, but you’ll be back next week for more – its pure theatre.

    Remember Laura??? Thought not.

    Comment by Bill — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 23:06

  231. Luice was brilliant ,what a complete injustice for those 2 to still be in the show. I thought Simons decision was a complete farce to put it to the public vote- what a cop out.How do we know what the public votes actually are, as it is never mentioned & do we really need the judges on this show if they are not going to be honest. It seems a cunning way of keeping Simons contestants in with a chance.l will not be watching any more Xfactor ………. time for a change !!!

    Comment by mandy — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 23:07

  232. I think that Simon thought Lucie was a real threat to the boys of him! So I think he voted tactical. That’s what I think is unfair! I am from the beginning for Stacey, so that isn’t the problem. But I don’t think Lucie deserved to go home this week. Because yesterday she did a great performence with ‘This Is Me’.

So Lucie, you are a great girl and I hope you are comming far in this business.

But I am also happy that Stacey is through to the next round! :)

    Greatz from the Netherlands!

  234. Lucie was amazing and I believe she was one of the most talented and could have won. Simon sold out to cheap media ratings and ruined the careere of a beautiful and talented girl in a totally disrespectful and shameful manner. He is not someone I have evere respected or liked and now I just won’t be watching the show – what an idiot – get rid of him his ego is too big for the show. I’m not the slightest bit interested in what he thinks – I’ve always watched the show for the brave talented individuals who put themselves through the ritual humiliation of the simon cowell travesty! He is an idiot! I’ll say it one more time I Simon you are a shameful idiot stop pollutiing our minds and our television screen with your egotistical crap!
Simon has always been an idiot but tonight he sank to the lowest he has ever been and should be utterly ashamed of himself!
Simon was disgustingly rude to Lucie, he was utterly disrespectful, arrogant, rude, shaming – he was an embarrasment to the show and should be totally ashamed of his behaviour

  238. I love Jedward’s energy and immaturity on stage and I am glad they are still in the competition. It’s so refreshing and different from the other mundane acts still in the show. I know the twins won’t win, but let’s be honest – Lucie had about as much personality and charisma as a bag of sticks. She is never going to make it as a popstar and neither will anyone else from this year’s lot. The winner may get a xmas number one, but I imagine we’ll have forgotten their name by next year. It’s actually kinda cruel/smart of Simon to use them as money-making pawns but that’s life. Pretty soon Jedward will be gone and the show will be extremely dull. So why not enjoy the FUN for as long as possible?

    Comment by Aaron — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 23:19

  239. I feel very sorry for Lucie, cracking singer who I hope goes on to have a great singing career. She has been the victim of what can only be described as tactical voting by Simon who has made a complete u turn from his previous comments. I will no longer be watching the show, its turned into a farce. How can two kids who cant sing in tune and who have no depth of talent be kept ahead of great singers like Lucie, unbelievable. Simon you should be ashamed of yourself and to the public who voted for the terrible twosome – clearly you dont know singing talent when you hear it

  240. Sorry to say that this is the end of x factor for me and my family. I thought that this was supposed to be a talent show. I do understand that the show is trying to get ratings but at the expense of real talent I think this is a very sad day for TV Talent Shows and I think this will give the wrong impression to the youngsters.
    Bad move Simon.

  242. I began to get dissilushioned last week when Rachael went out but this week it just confirms what I have believed right from the first couple of shows. This is no longer a singing competition it is a bitching money making programme where insults and bullying is acceptable. Young peoples lives and future are being destroyed and no-one seems to be protecting these poor vulnerable contestants. I found the way Cheryl consistantly showed hatred for Danyl appauling, I am not sure how much more I can take of this show as a viewer. Simon Cowell should feel very ashamed of what he has done tonight and how he has done a U-turn regarding the twins

I don’t know what he is playing at he has said all along that this is a singing competition and when he has the chance to save Lucie he cops out. My husband now calls him Simon Coward. I only hope you have not harmed your own acts with this decision as the public could stop watching the show or decline to vote for his acts. 250. Just remember this is a Talent show and Squeaky Boy Lloyd and Jedwood who cannot clearly sing in key should not be in the competition just for looking cute. He should have made the decision to get rid of two karaoke acts and never let Rachel and Lucy go out in this way clearly in the name of music.
I agree with some other comments about getting rid his competition so his acts will win.
I think Simon Cowell he has become a hypocrite and changes the goalposts to suite himself. There used to be a lot of truth in his comments about some of the performers but think its all gone to his head now.

He must not have a conscience truthfully knowing he has just put out some kids what can really sing. The public are voting out people with real talent like Rachel and Lucy who give you goose pimples when they sing. I have decided too not to watch this show again as it has become a disgrace. What I hope now that Squeaky Boy Lloyd or Jedwood wins, and your show plummets to an end as Its no longer a talent show. I think you have angered the nation by these stupid decisions.

Also i guarantee that most of the people who claim that they’ll stop watching the show won’t put their money where their mouth is.

    Comment by DAVID HART — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 23:48

  255. This decision tonight has nothing to do with Simon Cowell copping out but to do with ratings and headlines. Jedward are making headlines every day in the newpapers and every week the ratings are going up. This will now be a massive headline tomorrow and probably all week keeping the x factor in the public domain. Some people will choose not to watch but the majority will just to see what will happen next. Simon is probably also thinking that by making this controversial decision that people will now pick up their phones and vote for their favourite thus making more money for his company. This could really turn and bite Simon on the bun as people may now think just vote for Jebward and good talented people will not be voted for. Well if that happens he will only have himself to blame but I feel for the contestants at the moment because it will be them that suffers and not Simon.

  257. What a JOKE! Simon you have made a complete PRAT of the whole show tonight. NO CREDABILITY left, hang your head in shame. You obviously are heading for a fall, the public have lined your pockets long enough I feel. We are really disappointed in you as a person.

    Comment by Gwyn Edwards — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 23:52

  258. I can’t believe what has happened tonight! The show has lost what it stands for! Simon stated that he would judge the performances
ALONE but what happened? It was who he wanted most to see next week.

Does he think the public are ideots or something. He is a horrid coward who only did this to save his boys. He has crushed a girls dream who had the voice people could dream having!

And what is the point in having judges as most weeks it goes down to dead lock. I still hope Joe or Stacey win because I judge or talent and personal attitude and respect they have for the judges. No harm meant to jedward though because they seem like really nice guys honestly and I wish Lucie all the best .

    Comment by Iain — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 23:53

  259. Cowell is an idiot!! He has gone against everything he said, protecting it as a singing contest, what a load of rubbish, it is about ratings. Howver, judging from the comment perhaps he misjudged what creates ratings – talent. Maybe he will reap a financial disater on this show, perhaps his so called judgement will now be seen for what it is – plain greed. The Mail on Sunday predicted this, they said those Irish no talents had been pre-selected and that it was to spice up the show. Well Cowell perhaps you have self- destructed X Factor. Bye, bye fantasy world welcome to the real world Cowell………………….

    Comment by Michael — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 23:55

  260. It’s a family show and we have enoyed watching the X factor at each other’s house every week with our kids. HOWEVER we have all sworn that we we’d do something else next week ‘cos Simon Cowell may be God of pop, but quite fankly he has now taken the piss – I don’t need to spell out why!!

Viewers are not stupid, we know things are manipulated for the show, but this is extraordiary set of events. The power of the media is so strong, but parents have the off button. I’m pressing it! And actually my kids are readily pressing it too!
A big let down this year, and Simon’s smugness is really, really, really awful – he nneds to take care! He need to be humble with the rest of us….

    Comment by maria — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 23:55

  261. It’s appears the show is now starting to lose credibility, and so is Simon Cowell. This is no longer a singing contest and the producers need to take responsibility for destroying artists dreams in the race to make million from ratings and voting lines. Tonights display is a perfect example of what’s wrong with the world today!

    Comment by V Daya — Sunday, 8 November, 2009 @ 23:59

  262. Good ploy by – Simon got rid of the only serious challenge to any of his contestants

    Comment by Cynical — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 00:00

  263. Shame too on the other judges for being associated with this hypocritical charade. I for one will never watch this debacle anymore.

    Comment by Neil — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 00:09

  264. lucy sleid by jeward and travesty has occured for the first time on the xfactor which now clearly definds that their is a floor in the make up and desin of the programme where the mentors of the groupes should not be judges because firstly they seem to have their own agendres of what the programe is ment to be how ever simon cowell is a record producer and is fully aware of the talent within the contestants and did not need to go to dead lock we feel he has let the show down, an huge rebocutions in viewers ratings. this clearly shows that Mr. simon cowell simply can not forfill his job requirments and should therefor stand down as a judge. and us as viwers are part of the vote of no cofidence. the campaign has started for the end of the programm as us viewers know it. think most of you will and would agree that licie Jones should be re-instated with contestant status. that would be a first!

  265. It’s a travesity, Lucie Jones hasa talent, what did the twins have – star ratings for Simon Cowell and his farce of a show. I like many others couldn’t believe that when it came down to Simon actually having the opportunity of ousting the obnouis two actually had the cheek to say he wasn’t surprised to see the two, the twins and Lucie in the bottom. He needs to open his eyes and his ears. I for one won’t be watching again he could have put his money where his mouth was and stood by what he has been saying for ages. I didn’t believe the papers but what Simnon done tonight makes it difficult not to – a complete and utter farce!!

  267. still can’t believe lucie gone and those two idiots still in.they should never have got to bootcamp let alone this far.always thought simon actualy knew what he was doing when it came to choosing talent i was so obviously wrong.it has made the programme a complete farce and i hope to god people watching in other countries don’t think we’re all stupid morons like cowell.it so obviously comes down to money and ratings.tonight proved that.[wonder if we could get refund of money spent on voting].
lucie you were fantastic tonight and should be very proud of yourself.you gave me goosebumps.i hope someone snaps you up and gives you the contract you so deserve.now that you’r gone i hope joe wins.he’s got the best voice of the ones who are left but then that doesn’t seem to count for anything on this show.won’t make any difference to me anyway tonight was my last night of watching it.
someone needs to have a word with louis about his rude gestures to the audience as well.doesn’t he realise there are children watching the show.
hope to be hearing more of you lucie.you deserve better.you go girl.

  268. Well now I know what I suspected all along! Complete and utter farce and totally fixed. A cheer went up in our house when the horrible talentless twins made the bottom two, horror that Lucie was there, but in our house we were expecting Simon to vote of the act that he had slagged off ever since the auditions. As soon as he announced that he would go to the public vote Lucie was in tears, it was at that point that I knew I wouldn’t be watching it next week. So much for the Singing competition!!!! Simon Cowells money making scheme!! but if reading these blogs is anything to go by, I have a feeling that Simon is going to regreat that descision, Big Time.
I have said all along that the actual phone votes should be shown as I have not been convinced from the start of this series that the results are genuine! I hope that people protest by switching off or over, sorry Simon you have just got too greedy and lost a lifelong (up until tonite) fan.

    Comment by suzanne — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 00:31

  269. Simon you have turned yourself and the show into a complete joke tonight. Total fix. All you are interested in is causing controversy so that viewing figures will soar for the next week. Well I for one wont be watching again. I hope you fall flat on your face. The decent contestants have been stitched up by you. Youve nothing to be proud of. ps. Jamie, after this, please have the guts to quit and join Bon Jovi.

    Comment by dianne — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 00:37

  270. TOTALLY agree with what has gone before. Simon Cowell, you have made a mockery of entering a singing competition with any chance of progressing if you’re a good singer. You had principles but you chose to do the gutless thing and allow the public the final say. what point is there in a sing off!!? for the judges final decision, Its meant to be a fail safe, for exactly what happened tonight. You are crazy, and i suspect will live to regret it! Lydia

    Comment by Lydia — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 00:39

  271. Don’t get me wrong, Lucie shouldn’t have gone, but it was the public who voted for jedward and not her, so I can’t really see how people are blamin Simon cowell and ignoring the idiots that are voting for these guys?! Plus I’m fed up of all these people saying they’ll never watch again. Of course you will, even if it’s out of hatred for Simon/jedward. He knows this and is a businessman who is making his show entertaining, even if he has to play the bad guy.

    Comment by Matt — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 00:43

  272. Go jedward!! Loving you! Everyone is moaning about simons decision bit lucie had less votes than anyone else on the show . That is not simons fault!!!

    Comment by Sharleene — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 00:54

  273. Cheryl has more BALLS than Simon, by voting what is right. After slagging the twins for weeks he played politics by voting out one of the best singer (Lucie) to reduce future competition to his won acts. The X factor is now reduced to a clown. I have been looking forward to X factor every week end. If the judge cannot be professional, we are not going to watch X factor anymore. What a bad vote for X factor by Simon – I am sure he has lost quite a number of audience and his name is down the drain.

    Comment by KC — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 00:55

  274. It’s simply a great method that any cold blooded panel judge can use to get rid of any competing talented singer for whom, for whatever reason, the public don’t choose to vote.
I agree with Simon. Lucie wouldn’t win. However, she had the potential to knock one of his singers out next week if e.g she is in the bottom two with Danyl, Jamie or Olly. He couldn’t have known that she’d poll less votes than Jedward but it must have seemed like a risk free gamble and it paid off. The other judges’ competing artistes have just lost a potential threat. Next week he can be comfortable that Jedward or Lloyd will be at least one of the bottom two, probably scoring minimal public votes and therefore serving as a get out of jail free card if one of his lads ends up in the bottom two as well. I wish well for Lucie – we’ll hear from her again. With hindsight, I presume he wishes he hadn’t prefaced the sing off with an assurance that the result would be based on the performance that the bottom two put in.

    Comment by Martin — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 01:02

  275. I don’t like John and Edward, I think they are totally talentless. After whats happened tonight I hope they win. It will serve Simon right. They will be contracted to Simon’s company for 12 months – what on earth will he do with them – he certainly won’t make any money out of them.

    Comment by Patricia Evans — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 01:03

  276. Never commented on a TV show before and I am a casual observer, but just had to say that Cowell actually had a very easy decision to make tonight. Also a responsible decision, because the judges’ final casting vote is presumably a safety device to guard against talented singers losing out as a result of complacency on the part of the voters, who assume that the most able will just sail through (or at least who trust the judges to do the right thing if a “mistake” is on the cards). I agree with all the comments that have been made about Cowell’s hypocrisy and lack of integrity; however the most sickening aspect of his irresponsibility in not using his casting vote properly is that the public will not now get to see a genuine talent blossoming further in this show, and her hopes and dreams will have been cruelly and needlessly dashed. Mr Cowell, Lucie deserved better, and the public deserved better from you.

    Comment by Richard — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 01:21

  277. RIP X-factor
Just a thought…..wouldn’t it be fantastic if all of the “Stars” that are lined up to perform in the coming weeks now withdraw due to the bad publicity that will taint this show for the rest of it’s days. No one in our house will ever watch x-factor again.

  279. The rot first set in when the contestants all started trying to outdo each other with their sob stories prior to performing.
Then it progressed to the judges stupid rowing and put downs with each other.
Now the ultimate. Simon Cowell proving to everyone what a farce the whole show is.
What an awful shame. There has been and are some very talented singers who must feel very let down. The show has been ruined and is no longer believable. I shall never watch it again and I hope evryone else follows suit. If you must watch it DO NOT VOTE FOR ANYONE. That is the only way to show your feelings about Simon Cowell and the show. Voting for Jedward to enable them to win does not get back at Simon Cowell as he knows everyone is still glued to the show and thats what he needs. DO NOT VOTE.

    Comment by Linda — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 02:18

  281. I feel the need to express my total contempt for Mr Cowell. He ruined the dream of a very talented young woman simply to massage his own ego. A few minutes before making his disgusting decision he was saying the result would be judged on how well the acts performed in the playoff. He then went on to totally ignore this on the basis that, in his opinion, “neither act can win”. There was a good talented female singer versus to two total idiots, no contest. You are so very clever are you not Mr Cowell. Well done you have ruined this girls dreams to massage your own arrogance. You disgust me – go rot !!!!

    Comment by Richard — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 02:24

  282. Ok. Now i never thought i’d post on an X-factor forum of all things but here I am. And i’m in complete shock. I’m cutting up a sock at the moment because I made (an unloseable) bet. That i would eat my sock if those silly twins stayed and that Lucy got sent home. I can’t believe it. If this was a proper competition and not a fit up job from day 1, then i would pat simon on the back for playing with a winning strategy. But in this situation, he has just ended the show. Well done mate !

    Comment by Gav — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 02:32

  283. Guys lets be honest…i dont think Simon will care about our comments…the only way he will care is if we hit him in his heart…the X Factor…So if he thinks they are better than Lucy why we instead switch the tv off we just agree with him and vote to John and Edward and make them win the program and them for sure he will feel foul and the X Factor will finish this year. so VOTE FOR JEDWARD TO WIN AND MAKE THIS PROGRAM A REAL CIRCUS AND SIMON THE FINAL CLOWN.

Simon Cowell is a complete arse, after weeks of claiming it is a singing competition he sends one of the best singers home.He should be sacked from his own show.I hope that anyone other than his 3 win, plus it will be interesting to see what the other judges do if it’s one of Simons acts and Jedward in the sing off next week.

    Comment by Natalie — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 07:09

  288. I will no longer watch this show. Lucy Jones was a terrific singer yet she was sacrificed on the alter of a fast buck from some inane and insane duo who cannot sing, cannot dance, cannot radiate even the tiniest drop of character.
Cowell has shown his true colours – Greed, commercialism, and a cynical manipulation of the music loving public. Ms Cole and Ms Minogue should leave the show and abandon Walsh and Cowell to bicker over the pickings of a once great variety singing contest. RIP.

    Comment by arthur Russell — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 07:25

  289. The fact that Lucie was in the bottom 2 is just geography. Next week she could be in the to 2!? Simon merely took the public vote to maintain the ratings. His integrity took a bashing and deservedly so. My family decided X Factor has lost its appeal and will not watch it again.

    Comment by Gerry — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 07:53

  290. I’m switching off, Simon’s decision was bogus, and predictably so after how the season has been going. They are marketing the show towards an adult male winner, so there is no point in watching. The entertainment of watching Simon slag the other judges off is wearing thin and becoming transparent and mean. He has lost any ounce of integrity on the show, and while I think one of his contestants will win (almost certainly Olly), its not because of his guidance, but rather the lucky of the audition pool.

    Switched off.

    Comment by Adam — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 08:13

  291. Simon I did like your softer approach to the contestants on X Factor but did you have to lose your back-bone as well. Why play us all off as idiots ? It now proves you are just lining your own pockets and this has nothing to to with finding a pop singer of anyone with any talent.

How unfair to criticize the other contests who are really good singers and let them leave the competition in place of the twins. All along you have been saying they were terrible and you would leave the country etc if they went further – wonder what would of happened if they had come up against one of YOUR people – different story then !!!
SORRY BUT YOU HAVE JUST LOST MY VOTING POWER – along with alot of other people I suspect.

    Comment by sue — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 08:16

  292. Simon, I hope you read this. I’m switching off, and want no more to do with you. How can anyone enjoy a show which is quite clearly NOT what it professes to be. You should be ashamed – Lucie sang beautifully. You rely on public support to fill your pockets, but after last night, I want to cut a little hole in them. I shan’t watch again, and hope others join the revolt.

    Comment by Gwyn Edwards — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 08:26

  295. Can’t agree more with the comments. Tonight was a real spoiler for a program that I have enjoyed up to now. The number of times Simon Cowell used the word ‘Genuinely’ about himself betrayed how much he was attempting to cover up his decision to vote tactically in order to protect his own candidates. Sickening! Not sure if I want to watch the program any more. Hope Lucie Jones gets a break and has a brilliant career. Her voice is extraordinarily good. Terrific to listen to her sing.

    Comment by Nigel Heath — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 08:26

  297. Last night was a complete farce, I have lost all belief in the show. Simon Cowell has ruined his own idea.
My wife and I will no longer be tuning in.
Talk about conning the public, Simon has done a sleazier job than even a New Labour politician could manage.

    Comment by John — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 08:31

  298. Simon may see the error of his ways if no-one votes next week. He needs to understand that this is a singing contest, (where did I hear that from? !!!!!!!) If you can’t sing then audition for X factor next year, if you can sing don’t humiliate yourself stay at home we don’t really want to see your talent on the telly! Simon just wants to make money out of you and the other judges just want to be rude to you.

    Comment by Sibbers — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 08:34

  299. The X-factor has just lost its X-factor. It has always been an extension of Simon’s inflated ego but this latest decision really demonstrates it’s all about him, ratings and money, money, money – no thought for the talented contestants whose lives he harms. Hope this one backfires on you Simon – the universal feeling is that you’ve lost your personal integrity, the public’s respect and, hopefully, many viewers. Still, looking on the bright side – I’ve got my Saturday evening back…

    Comment by Christof — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 09:11

  300. What an absolute disgrace. Cowell calls this a talent contest, says he will leave the country if John & Edward win yet he had the chance to do what he always said he would do, yet FAILED the british public and especially Lucie by putting it into dead lock and risking her possible great future – I would buy Luicie’s records, but no way would anyone buy John & Edward’s – WHAT A BIG MISTAKE!. In our house we will no longer watch this farce, and think the rest of the british public should do the same until Lucie is re-instated back into the show. GOOD LUCK LUCIE!

    Comment by paul — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 09:14

  301. I only started watching X factor this year after my daughter became a supporter of Lucy and encouraged me to do so. After last night I will not be watching again. I am so furious with myself for getting involved with a show that is completely flawed. Simon Cowell is a complete joke, since the beginning of the series he has hated Jedward, calling them a joke and threatening to pull out of the show as it was no longer a singing competition. On the other hand for the last two weeks in particular he has praised Lucy and called her the best girl act. When he gets a chance to vote the boys out he says he would prefer to see them next week. This is either a political vote as he sees Lucy as the biggest threat to his acts or because he has money invested in Jedward. Either way I no longer have any respect for him. There is no point even having the judging at the end of the show because it is pointless, it may as well be left to the public vote each week The judges on Strictly Come Dancing always do their best to keep the best dancers in when it comes to voting for the bottom two. Cheryl voted for the best act regardless of the threat Lucy could prove to be to LLoyd, I at least can respect her.

    Comment by Karen Lee-Brindle — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 09:17

  302. All i can say is Simon Coward, i always respected simon because he always told the truth. I can now see that this is no long the truth and think the show is now a farce. GOODBYE X FACTER

    Comment by chris — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 09:21

  303. Simon totally disgraced himself and should now perhaps be called Simon Coward. This was a wonderful opportunity to get rid of these two farcical nonentities who should never have been in this show to begin with.
Just hope Lucie will go on to do well. She was 1000% better than the ghastly twins.
    Shame on you Mr Coward.

    Comment by Art — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 09:28

  304. We are switching off XFactor in our house, the show is a farce, false and obviously fixed to put money in Cowells wallet – If Cheryl & Danni have any back bone they too should leave the show in protest. Cowell your a greedy arrogant idiot – Do you really think that the british public are that stupid? – I urge the british public not to watch the show, or phone to vote as that way we can hurt Cowell just as he hurt Lucie’s chances – GOOD LUCK LUCIE.

    Comment by Paul — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 09:30

Louis was really niice to lucy and didnt even stand up after John and Edward, Cheryll voted for lucy-which definately says somehin, but wtf was up with Simon sending LUCIE home!

  308. Cannot believe what S.Cowell did last night…totally unbelievable… what a contradiction to the comments he has made about the boys and then he goes and puts the vote out to the public knowing full well that the boys would have the majority vote.. A complete cop out Simon and i am surprised at you as i’ve always respected your judgement on knowing about good talent..You should have made one of your comments like I see you as the support act and not the Star! or even better…’this is exactly how not to do well in a show, it was exactly Karioke’! Where was your head Simon??? I agree with the other people on here that have said don’t be surprised now if the viewers turn off! Bad decisoin Simon and i reckon you’ll lose one of your acts now for that.. what goes around comes around… Good luck to Lucie Jones she’s a Star without you… !! I thought it was a singing competition and not Britains got Talent!! Disgusted! Totally!

    Comment by Caroline — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 09:46

  309. I hope John and Edward win! The Ghostbusters song was hillarious and i loved it. I dont like the fact that they are getting treated so badly. People that treat teenage boys so badly make me sick! They are human beings that decided to try out for a talent show and they are doing the best they can but bullies keep trying to make them feel bad. I think its disgusting the way they were felt to not belong on the stage last night. People need to quit being so self centred and start thinking of how they must feel. Would you like it if they were your sons on that stage being mistreated? I say John and Edward should win not because they are the best singer…cause i’ve heard plenty famous singers sing live and they are no worse than them. Its not just about singing. Besides they dont deserve all the hate on their plate. They are teenage boys and i really feel sick knowing people are making them feel so badly when they deserve it- Louie chose them! God For It Boys. I see my son on that stage when i see you guys and its like your fighting the world up there! Keep your spirits up.x

  310. I am absolutely disgusted with Simon Cowell, who calls himself a music industry expert! He is no expert in my opinion when all along he has criticised the twins, even threatening to pull out of the competition. Yet here was his perfect opportunity to bring the competition to sense and reasoning, but he chose not too. The public have decided .. we are told!! Yet do we believe this? How do we know that we are not being misled & the results fixed or predetermined?? As far as I am concerned this demonstrates the show as a complete farce and I will never watch this rubbish again!! Unfortunately this is not the twins fault, they are also being misled, in being told that they have talent by their mentor Louis, who in my opinion also demonstrates a complete & utter lack of responsibility in putting them through in the first place. As for Simon referring to Lucy not being able to win the competition, another load of rubbish. She may not have had the strength of some of the others in the show, but she did not deserve to be voted out, and should have been the chance to prove this. I think this was purely a stunt to reduce the competition for Simons camp!! Lets face it, Simon Cowell will pocket a huge amount of money out of this, so to decieve and manipulate the public & the contestants is in his interests. Boycott the show!!!

  311. what is the point of a sing off when they keep going to dedlock. Its cruel to make the bottom two artist sing again if they keep going to public vote. they should reopen the voting lines for the bottom two artists and let everyone decide the outcome that would be fair. I think Dani is one of the best mentors so dont put yourself down honey its not your fault.Lucy will still have a great career she is a fab singer and i thought the song choice for her this week was perfect.

  312. I have watched the x factor recently and have decided to overlook many of the flaws (egotism, power hunger & commercial greediness) that it demonstrates because at a fundamental level I like to see young raw talent finding an outlet for their abilities.

I can now state however that I shall no longer watch this show because I can not overlook a young and highly talented person having an opportunity taken away from them in such a cruel and indefensible manner.

I am hopeful that the public at large shall also boycott this show going forwards and that Dannii Minogue shows her views by leaving the X factor in disgust.

Additionally I hope that this situation prompts the creation of a rival talent show which can demonstrate the fair and correct vitues required that X factor has failed to embrace.

Lastly I hope that this young talented girl finds a channel for her abilities and that this sour experience does not impact her too heavily.

I also believe that Simon Cowell needs to understand that actions of the sort we have just seen actually undermine and damage young people like Lucie at a very formative stage in their lives. Personal morality should never be compromised for commercial success and pursuit of wealth.

  313. boycott x factor, i will not be watchin x factor again, simon cowell you let down yourself and the show last night, you had leona lewis sing and your comments after her amazing performance were that this is what the show is all about and then you let the competition go down to deadlock knowing what the outcome would be this is not a singing competition anymore, i wonder what your reaction would have been had one of your acts been in the bottom 2????

  314. Cowell’s decision was not about getting rid of the competition but about TV ratings – whether you like it or not Jedward are car crash television and viewers tune in to watch them.
If they go then I think some viewers will switch off.

Cowell made the decision with his TV exec hat on not his music hat.
It proves that the X Factor is not a singing contest but an entertainment show. It will only become a singing contest when we reach the last 4.

Also if people thought Lucy was so great why the hell did they not vote for her?

Possibly because she has not had a fair crack of the whip when it comes to the media – others like Stacey and Olly seem to hog the headlines.

By the way – is it just me? But I find Stacey’s witterings not only annoying but somewhat contrived – she is like Jade Goodie mark 2.

  315. I agree with 99% of the entries on this blog that last night’s X Factor was a total farce. It just proves that the whole show is a Panto, very well scripted and rehearsed to give maximum publicity and exposure for Simon Cowell’s empire. You’ve got Louis ‘Mr Cliche’ Walsh and his rule book and Simon and his fake little arguments with Cheryl when really he fancies the pants off her. Simon has conned the public into spending their hard earned cash voting for these acts. I’m not even convinced the public votes haven’t been adjusted to give the result Simon wants each week. For instance, how can Jedward get the most public votes the week Danyl came in the last 2, but then 2 weeks later be in the bottom 2 themselves. I used to think Simon was a bit harsh sometmes but at least he was honest with the acts when he gave them his opinion but I think he has shot himself in the foot by copping out last night. X Factor has just lost a hell of a lot of viewers and more importantly for Simon, a lot of revenue.

It fills me with such anger that this juggernaut is now guaranteed the Xmas No.1 every year by virtue of it’s timing.

I mean for chrissakes- does no-one have any musical taste anymore, or appreciation for the joys and fun of the festive season???

The British public are thick though – they put Lucie in the bottom 2 and let Lloyd through.

  318. The show is clearly fixed and anyone who still believes it is the public who are making these decisions whould think again.
Cowell is a hypocrite who knows nothing about music, but lots about how to make money. After all this is the man who gave us Zig and Zog and Robson and Jerome.
Simon keeps saying ‘This is a singing competition’, but if that were the case Jedward would not be there at all.
The show is all about ratings and the guarenteed No.1, after that IF someone wins or not they will succeed if they are talented. Look at G4 or JLS for example. ( and where is Steve Brookstien or that other guy who won a few years back? )
Best thing to do is STOP watching this farce of a show, STOP voting for ANYONE, especially STOP voting for ANY of Simon Cowel’s lot!
I for one won’t be watching this show anymore.

  319. Last night was an utter disgrace and an insult to any intelligent viewer. I watch because I want to see talent shine; what I don’t want to watch is a farce with the programme, contestants and viewers being cynically manipulated. I will not be watching any more!

  320. Agree with everyone. Used to enjoy watching the show, even used to rate Cowell’s comments as he was typically on the money….now he’s obviously just playing his own game and seems to think the public are so stupid he can get away with it. I for one will not be patronised any more. I will not be watching this stupid show any more, and encourage you all to do the same. Show him he can’t get away with this level of manipulation any more. I will also be buying Laura White’s new single, she’s on an independent label so he makes no money out of it, and wouldn’t it be great to see her at No1 instead of something Cowell makes money out of?! Come on Britain, let’s vote with our feet….

    Comment by Eli — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 10:34

  321. I reckon int’s all a big conspiracy…Simon actually WANTS the twins to win… remember Same Difference- and those Scottish Brothers (whatever they were called). Slagging them off week after week guarantees a public reaction against him- and saying he’d leave the country will obviously get votes for them as well.

The moment he might lose them….he protects them..

He has seen them gain in popularity and now wants to keep them.

i do not think he is protecting his own acts at all.

I think he sees more money making potential in the twins- and pretending to hate them this long has kept them in.

I agree with all the earlier comments and can only express my great disappointment for Lucie and the other strong singers whose expectations have once again been raised by reality TV only to be knocked. I have always been a fan of the X Factor because I felt it was a credible, fair and genuine attempt to unearth new talent and give them an opportunity to have a career that might otherwise have passed them by.

I feel Simon Cowell acted in an extremely hypocritical manner, which leaves no one in doubt about ulterior motives. While it is not the end of the world, I do believe that Simon’s actions are a nail in the X Factor coffin.

  329. Hi,
What a disaster x-factor was last night. I thought the show was a talent show yet it seems to be on a weekly basis, a time for the judges to bitch between theirselves. Louis Walsh is arrogant, Cheryl Cole is full of her own importance and Simon has lost the plot completely. The only one with their head screwed on is Danny Minogue. Jedward are utter rubbish and painful on the ears. They remind me of schoolboys singing on stage at school. Compared to last years show i think the talent has slackened enormously. If this is all we have got to show as a talented country then god help us. I think the show should have the same type of voting system as the eurovision song contest where there is a board so we can see where the public votes are going. How do we know the voting isnt fixed? The show has become farsicle, so i will be switching over now.

  330. Simon Cowell has lost all his integrity – he had the opportunity to turn X factor into a singing competition, but didn’t.

    Comment by Pablo — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 11:09

  331. Simon, You have lost the plot – your arrogance and greed have overshadowed any last vestiges of integrity. I was undecided in who would win and believed this to be one of the best X Factors for a few years, with a number of genuinely talented singers. The only exception being the twins – Louis only put them through to the Final as a protest against being landed with the worst category for the 2nd year running and to wind up Simon.

The one thing that you have now overlooked Mr Cowell is that among the millions of viewers who watch every week, there are many, many people for whom the death bell for this programme has now sounded.

The moment it became transparently about you, your ego and your revenue returns at the expense of the best singers – we have all known this was a great vehicle for you to make a load of cash but at least in the past it was based on the best singers progressing through the competition – upsets like Laura last year do not compare to the complete travesty that you inflicted on the show tonight – it is a singing competition as you have repeated week upon week – you would base your vote on who sang best in their final performance – then you are unable to decide!

Complete bullsh*t Simon – you are a greedy fool and have alienated a massive share of your audience – I just hope and pray that the British public really demonstrate their anger and disgust with their fingers – 2 to you and one on their remote button for BBC 1 and Strictly.

    Comment by Pablo — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 11:14

  333. Absolutely disgusted with the latest move to send Simon the sleazy’s PR machine into over drive. It was another cheap shot to keep the declining show firmly in the headlines. Shame is, it’s for the wrong reasons. Had Simon any conviction or principles he would have sent the right act packing. They had a good innings and have seen off some genuine talent, and so when the perfect opportunity presented itself what does he do. Exactly what I expected he would stroked his ego, at Lucie’s expense. The poor girl was a wreck and completely humiliated. What a creep I have lost all respect for him. He’s turned the show into a farce. Lucie was amongst the only truly talented one’s left standing.

I just hope there is some justice and the Grimes boy’s end up winning the show. That to me would be poetic justice for the farce it has become.

Either way won’t be tuning in, hope it goes down the tubes.

    Comment by LD — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 11:15

  334. I was disgusted @ Simons cop out last night, how utterly predictable and pathetic. I will boycott the show and I suggest others do the same. Simon is now a victim of his inflated egotisticalpersona and should know better at his age. He had the perfect opportunity to redeem himself for copping out last week but oh no, he does it again. I suggest he slides into his high waisted trouser press and squashes the life out of himself, just like he does to his victims. I bet he has no trouble sleeping at night because he is soooo callous and shallow.

Lucy has far more talent than the twins, who let’s face it, after their first flush of fame have no real future in the pop industry and the only people who should be worried about them is Ant and Dec! Lucy, you go girl, you are young and will make it so never give up on your dream.

Simon has proved he doesnt care remotely for his budding ’stars’ and just manipulates the show for his own gain, week afte week, year after year. Why do we put up with it?

    Comment by Pam — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 11:18

  335. I have never been a big fan of Simon but had started to respect him for what he is. I now feel totally hoodwinked by this man and this programme and wont believe a word he says in future. He is a hypocrite a liar and a cheat and has been nothing more than a pantomine villain. He is probably smiling smugly at the publicity generated by this crass decision but he should be ashamed of himself. If he watches just how graciously Lucie accepted her ejection on Extra factor I am pretty sure he would. Shame on you Mr Cowell

  336. The show is called the X Factor not ‘Best Singer.’ Lucie could sing but SHE DID NOT HAVE THE X FACTOR. The twins are tv gold. I won’t miss Lucie but I would’ve missed the twins next week. TWINS to WIN.

    Comment by shauna — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 11:24

  337. What happened to the “based on this performance” comment, it was clear Jedward can’t sing.

It’s been pushed to public votes too often, you may as well not have “Judges” and just stick to mentoring, and just leave it at the performer with the lowest public vote goes, and cut out Sundays show altogether.

This show has turned into a farce. It’s a singing contest not a school talent show.

I just wonder how many on the Jedward fans would actually buy a cd, if you wouldn’t then don’t vote for them.

    Comment by Suse — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 11:38

  338. People should have voted more for Lucie if they wanted her to stay in. It’s like Laura White all over again – Simon is a smart businessman and knows exactly what to do to keep people talking about his show. John and Edward are crap, but if you want to blame people – don’t blame Cowell, blame the public for not supporting Lucie, and blame Louis Walsh for not having the balls to stand up and save Lucie last night. This “judge’s loyalty” thing is the worst thing about the competition. It’s just a competition, get over it…and buy Laura White’s single.

    Comment by Shanna — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 11:39

  339. Shanna, whilst I agree the public should have voted more, how do we know what the actual votes are for each act? It smacks of corruprtion as we never get to see the total votes so how can it be fair? The judges could easily keep in the act with the least votes and we will never know! The only reason the twing got more votes (if they did?) is because of the massive media hype they have been enjoying. It is a competition, your right, but it’s more of a pop political show than a audience fuelled event. X Factor is precisely that ‘X’ as in past.

    Comment by Pam — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 11:53

  340. Dear Mr Cowell,

After yesterdays performance you have proved to me and the rest of the british public that you are only interested in making money for yourself and are not interested in any true talent …

X factor is a talent show and you know as well as everybody else that Lucy has more singing talent than John and Edward …

The whole show has just degenerated into a slanging match between the judges – bring back Pete Waterman, DJ Foxey and Nicky Chapmen who at least knew what they was talking about … maybe they left the show because they saw what the show had become …

I am sure you would not have left the vote to the great british public had one of your acts been in the bottom two …

    Regards

    Trish

  341. Just watched ‘This Morning’ and while I realise that Philip has to be careful, and while I do like his honesty despite the obvious pitfalls he faces if he says what he really thinks, This Morning with Sinitta was almost as much of a cringe inducing cop-out as Simon’s last night.

    e.g.
Sinitta’s hypocritical eyeball-rolling when asking why the audience call for Jedwards’ heads but then don’t vote. That appalling shill performance was permitted unquestioned and ignored the fact that calling for their heads is exactly what Simon has been doing every week – and not voting that way is exactly what he did last night.
Why does she expect the public to do what her paymaster hasn’t got the integrity to do – or is she that much of an air-head that she’s completely incapable of joining those dots?
I think what pisses the public off the most is Simon and his shills’ rampant denial about his agenda-driven decisions even though it’s becoming increasingl;y obvious to everyone. His assurance that he would only base his decision on the sing-off performance, his then complete disregard for the sing-off performance, citing potential for winning etc. as his decision to weasel out – and then the rampant dishonesty and torrent of lies afterwards to explain the inexplicable.
Are they really that stupid to think that we’re that stupid to believe that tosh? Or are we that stupid?
If Simon can be SO obviously THAT dishonest, then who’s to know how far he’ll go (or has gone) with other vote-rigging or vote foreknowledge?
The show’s OK but I hope Cowell’s now predictable and transparent mendacity is a sign that HE has jumped the shark.

You might just as well put a cardboard cut out of him in his chair at least that way we wouldn’t have to listen to his drivel!! After slating jedwood (deadwood) for weeks he has kept them in the competition what absolute rubbish – I will not watch it ever again and I mean that! I could understand him voting lucie out cos’ she is a threat to his lot but to not even have the balls to make the call – Simon you are rubbish!

    Comment by Phil — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 12:09

  344. I’ve lost all respect for Simon Cowell. The man is a complete joke and a hypocrite. I’ve never missed an episode of X-Factor but I’ll never watch it again after tonight’s farce.

Lucy was without question one of the top 3 singers in the competition and has been consistently great week after week.

The twins might put on a show but they can’t sing as Simon has been telling us every week and is it not Simon that regularly points out that the X-Factor is meant to be a singing competition.

I feel really sorry for Lucie and Danni tonight. I wonder how Simon would have felt if it was one of his 3 acts in the sing off and either Danni or Cheryl had chosen to take it to deadlock. If he’d have lost an act to the twins he would have been fuming which makes his decision even more scandalous.

What is the point in the sing off if not to help prevent the better acts going home at the expense of joke acts like John and Edward?

Acts have come back from being in the bottom 2 to make the finals and I honestly believe Lucie had a chance of winning the show had she got through this week. Just like Lloyd and Danyl her fans would have been shocked by her being in the sing off and voted like crazy to ensure it didn’t happen again. She didn’t get the votes this week because everyone assumed she was safe.

I can’t watch X-Factor again after witnessing that tonight. Simon has made the entire competition a farce.

I think Lucie will have the last laugh as I’m sure she is destined to do extremely well and I can’t wait to buy her first CD.

    Comment by Andy — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 12:10

  345. Lucie sings like an angel. Reminded me of Diane Vickers last year. Certainly, the show is rigged, the twins are awful, relying heavily on a backing-group and gryate as the cheeky chaps they are. Lucie is talented and deserved to go further. SC, with the last vote is not consistent and clearly has another agenda, whipping up controversy for commerncial gain.

One puzzle is the public vote; its very fickle, sensatioinal and also inconsistent. Something doesn’t seem quite right there either.

I truly liked the show but its a shame fair play seems to be missing and I will not be watching it further.

    Comment by david johnson — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 12:22

  346. This show has become a total scam – an attempt to get us voting more to ‘correct’ the results… But look at the facts:- There is almost universal condemnation about what happened last night… How can Lucie perform a great performance (one of the best) on Saturday night yet apparently get less votes than Lloyd or the twins?
How can the result cause such outcry of public opinion – yet public voting appears to differ wildly… There is only one conclusion that is that the public voting has been fixed – ITV yet again guilty of interfering with voting – there should be an inquiry…

As for Simon – (the man who prior to the ’singoff’ stated that the acts would be judged only by their ’singoff’ performance and the man that has condemmed the twins since the first audition) I have a couple of questions for you:-

In your professional opinion which act performed better in the singoff last night – the twins or Lucie?

Do you consider that your shows priority is more about ratings than contestents talent?

Simon obviously has little integrity and would undoubtedly not be able to answer the above questions honestly… The public know this and I sincerely hope the public do stop watching this farcical talent contest.

Those of you saying you will boycott X-factor, RUBBISH – you will all watch it again, face it, you love it really! As if a few hundred people not watching the show will make any difference to the figures anyway…

All of you complaining about Lucie going out, well if more of you had voted for her if she was so great then she wouldn’t have been in the bottom two would she :-) all Simon did was put it back to the PUBLIC (you lot) vote.

I don’t see how it is a farce, or a fix, or whatever else, but then I would expect a reaction like this from the general public, bunch of lemmings that you are :-)

I personally will be voting for John & Edward, the hate campaigns and unneccessary booing is just getting ridiculous now!

the reason why we say its a fix is because of simon cowells constant abuse to the twins, saying that they are shocking, cant sing, need to go etc etc, yet he still gives them the opportunity to stay in, why didn’t he get rid of the twins when he had the chance, because lucy is a threat to his acts, and it means a lot of press for him and the show… his show. its all about money for him!

Many people have commented that it is a singing competition so why is John & Edward still there? – constantly out of tune and would rather rap or talk, so even their mentor knows they cannot sing as he is puting this kind of music to them!
I have voted for Lucie from the start and Simon Cowell has done nothing but moan about John & Edward since the start, so what does he do? keeps them in – absolute farse. It’s switching off for me now and hopefully many more will do so.

If it’s all down to the public vote as you say, then they shouldn’t bother with the sing-off.

If they’re going to bother with the sing-off, then the judges should do what they claim the sing-off is for – instead of BS-ing and using the public’s vote as an excuse for their own cowardice.

Simon’s words over X factor weeks regarding john and edward “You two are horrors, I wouldnt want to listen to your songs on the radio, who would buy your records, Louise’s got bad taste and choices in music, ran out of comments for jedward, it’s all about the singing competition, a talent, and you two cant dance or sing…bla bla bla”.

People say, actions speak louder than words. Simon says one thing and now it has proved his actions another. What he said about jedward over weeks, he didnt seem to mean anything according to his actions this sunday. Does money really make a person that double faced?!

If Simon really meant what he said, why to let talented Lucy go??? She has not reached the ceiling yet! Goodness, one week she sings like Houston, next a rock star, challenges Leona’s song, then a movie star with my sweet Valentine… Old fashion song, modern, anything… So much more she could have presented for the public. And John and edward in comparison? Nothing! Lucy is one of the few you want to listen over and over. She is one of the most versitile singers and can adjust to any style!!! She is VERY talented, one of the people that made this year’s X factor interesting to watch.

I guess, Simon wants one of his boys to win (clearly Danyl), therefore it is convenient for him to kick out one of the strongest competitors out of the X factor. Simon already made a comment, it’s enough for women in the competition (Leona, Alexandra, time for men…). And if in the final jedward remain against Simon’s boys, who will win? Of course, Simon’s boys because they are more talented than those 2. But if it was Lucy against one of Simon’s boys, it would be a bit of a challenge!

I always respected Simon for his straight forwardness but lost any respect for him now, watching him saying one thing about horrors and then saving them.

  356. After the stupid decision by Simon tonight, I would love it if someone signs up the talented and fabulous Lucie. She then releases a single to coincide with the release of the winners xmas record and LUCIE gets to number one!!!! Oh how that would wipe that stupid grin of his face. I used to like Simon and the X-Factor but no more. I will be switching channels next weekend when it is on. Sorry Jedward I have nothing against you both and good luck for the future, but Lucie should still be there, she was the best by far. Good luck Lucie I will be watching out for you in the charts SOON!!!!! I don’t usually write on things like this, but this has made me sooooo angry. Simon I hope you read how much upset you have caused, this won’t be forgotten for a long time. Goodbye EX-FACTOR!!!

  357. I thought last night was a disgrace.

And to those who say if the public wanted Lucie in they whould have voted for her, does anyone really think this reflects public opinion at this early stage? As far as Im concerned it merely reflects the opinions of those who bother to vote – which is NOT the majority of people who watch the show. Plus these votes themselves are not totally reliable anyway. For instance a 14 year old girl who fancies Lloyd can vote for him 15 times if she wants. That doesnt make him 15 times more popular than someone who gets just one vote from a viewer who thought they were the best contestant does it? Personally I never bother to vote and I know I’m not the only one. Maybe that means we cant complain about the outcome but it does mean that basically the public vote is not a true reflection on who the viewers like most (until the Final perhaps).

This surely is the point of the judges having the final say … to maintain the credibility of the show. Last night and the week before Simon Cowell abused that privilege and the show has lost all credibility now. Two talented singers have gone out when they should both still be there. I remember on a previous series Simon actually voting off one of his own acts in a final showdown because the other act was better. That integrity no longer exists on the show. And its poorer for it. I wont say Im not watching it again because I probably will. But I can say for sure that I no longer care who wins because I don’t think it’s a fair system and there are too many agendas, too much manipulation and too many points scoring exercises going on.

I think this series more than any other has been a joke. There has always been a contrived element to it but never so blatant as the last fortnight. The judges (pretend?) squabbling has also become tiresome now. Who the hell cares which mentor wins anyway? I think they are putting too much importance by this and this is where the show has lost its way. You cannot take what the judges say as their honest opinions anymore. Its all mind games crap and trying to brainwash viewers. Some of what Simon has said about Danni’s acts in the last few weeks has been total and absolute b******ks compared to what he says about his own acts. Its hypocrisy at its highest and complete double standards. I’ve never seen someone contradict himself so much in such a short space of time.

And why is Simon Cowell always last to get his say when its not his act that has just performed? Why does he also get the last say in the sing off when its not his act? Surely they could mix it up a bit. It gives him too much influence, too much importance and too much of an advantage. Just because the show was his idea it doesn’t mean its right that he gets this preferential treatment. I think the show might be better off without him and the repellent Louis Walsh in future.

Perhaps a fairer way would be for all acts to perform one after the other and let the public vote before hearing the judges comments. It would still be flawed if people don’t bother to vote though so myaybe voting who you want out would be better? Or maybe there isn’t a totally fair way unless every viewer was somehow forced to vote. Something has to change though or the show will die. I suspect it may have already peaked though to be honest and its just a matter of time before we all get bored with it.

And that’s another thing. Is Simon Cowell already bored with it? He seems to have trouble remembering peoples names and then says something like ‘’sorry Im not with it this week’’. You think he could show a bit more respect. Maybe his ever increasing ego doesn’t allow it though and maybe that will result in the shows downfall sooner rather than later.

I cant believe I’ve said all this for a show I consider myself to be a casual viewer of rather than an avid fan but there was something about last night that really wound me up and still is.

  358. I didn’t say that you are all lemmings for watching X-factor and having an opinion on it, just the whole “OMG im nevr wotchin x-factor agen lyk!!11″ crap, it’s rubbish and you all know it…

And yes I think Lloyd is crap, you all say this week was a farce, last week was more of a “farce” to me, as Lloyd only complained about the sore throat when he was in the bottom two, he seemed fine the night before, and was talking fine etc, none of that pathetic little act until it went to the sing-off…

I am not saying people should not like or dislike the contestants, but the way John & Edward are being treated is awful, totally unjustified. Lucie WAS a good singer, I always thought she was good and she didn’t deserve to go – but thats how the public voted!

I don’t see it being an issue with it falling to deadlock, it’s a choice all the judges have used before, and yes Simon probably did get rid of Lucie as she is a threat – but so what, it’s all part of the game people…

  359. I have never wrote on a review site before but after saturdys X Factor thought i would! I couldnt believe that after weeks of slatings the twins, Simon stuck up for them and voted the way he did – I was gutted that Lucy went as she was one of the best singers there especially compared to the twins!! This is meant to be a singing competition – going by saturdays voting by Simon this program is fixed and myself and daughters will not be watching it again!!

  361. As i said to Rachel and i,ll say to you Lucy.

X Factor is not a serious singing competition and Simon can’t play an instrument or sing.

Music is just a vehicle for him to make himself shed loads of cash.

Get yourself a producer who has a genuine love of music and start making songs and releasing them.

You don’t need to win x factor to do that.

    Comment by Gary — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 14:40

  362. Last nights results were an absolute farce, Cowell took the cowards way out by going to the public vote, Jedward are totally talentless while Lucie has an amazing voice and really there should have been no contest. Lucie will make it on her own without Cowell’s so called help. Just compare Jedward with Leona Lewis (who was fantastic on the show)and that’s the sort of talent they should be looking for, shame they are still on the show and I for one will not be tuning in on Saturday.

    Comment by Nelly B — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 14:42

  363. I was absolutely disgusted with the whole X-Factor programme on Saturday/Sunday night (7/8 November). Having heard Simon Cowell state week after week how appalling John and Edward were and that they shouldn’t still be there, and then subsequently reading in the newspapers that Simon had actually four months ago called Shane and Louis to LA to view John and Edwards audition tape and state that he would make them stars (which in itself infuriated me and made me think how stupid he must think the general public are and which appears not to have been commmented on previously) I now find the whole programme an absolute farce. I feel very sorry as having been a very loyal X-factor viewer and Simon Cowell fan, watching the programme year after year, week after week religiously joining in with the whole “who deserves to win – who is the best SINGER” scenario, I can safely say “Mr Cowell you have lost yet another viewer! I hope John and Edward turn out to be as big as you hope because you have lost a lot of your credibility and obviously money is the be all and end all behind your programme and decision making and not who actually has the better singing voice of all the contestants. Mr Cowell please remember it is the general public that helped you make your millions in the first instance and as Danni quite rightly pointed out it is a SINGING COMPETION!

  366. Absolutley ridiculous. I almost wet myself upon finding out john and edward were in the bottom two thinking they would go by a mile off. then lucy sang incredibly and i thought i may as well not watch them piles of crap because shed be safe. You know what the problem is?? Simon still has 3 acts and lets be honest lucie was the only real threat to them(feel free to disagree)so if he puts her out they have no real competition do they?? Pathetic dont you think.? i cant believe simon wouldnt even be happy if someone like that won the x factor which is HIS SHOW and sell millions of records but its all about him. I think he said they were good so they wouldnt get more votes because it was all a wind up for him and it worked, so when it comes down to one of his people will vote less for john and edward if simon praises them. His tactics are awful. Anyway forgetting all that, lucy is amazing and should get a record deal. Simon says with her there is a ceiling. As far as im concerned, she already hit it and if he thinks she didnt, he didnt even stop to give her the chance.

John and edward should audition for britans got talent as people will be watching them and not being listening to them on the radio or on a CD!! lucie was my absuloute faviroute and i liked the beauty in her vocie, simon needs to realise he is just going to be shouted and hated if he keeps on making the wrong desistions!!!! all the people are starting to really get annoyed with simon and the way he critised lloyd as every girl in britan is probly voting for mr lloyd fity daniels. joe is really cute and has a great voice i would like to see simon get on that stage and sing the circle of life!! simon is very sucsessful and i congratulate him for that! i am a great fan of simon but he is making him self being hated! he has got the most gorgeous boys in his category DANYL AND OLLY!!! im voting voting voting! but simon needs to get a grib!

Lucie Jones is better and at the sing off she sang the better song than the twins so why have she gone out it should of been the twins. If the twins won the x-factor then i will complain because it all a fixed. Because of you Simon Lucie is now gone because u wanted to keep the 2 entertain in which is not fair. THIS IS A FIXED FROM SIMON COWELL

  372. Show is no longer bout finding talent with X factor.Im sure not only r judges looking 4 this but millions of viewers who watch r looking 4 this.Viewing figures as much as important as voting figures. The show is now about greed. When the twins an Lucy wer in bottom 2, Simon knew twins would have mor votes.Soon as he mentioned that he would leave it 2 public vote, lucy new she was out. same as week b4, when he did same thing 2 rachel, she new she was out.I reckon 90% of viewers could have bet their house on twins having mor votes than lucy.If Lucy new, an rachel new an public new, how could Simon not kno, is’nt he suposed to be some big music producer.Obviously keeping twins in brings mor fone votes which means money, so yes its about greed not talent.Simon Cowel is treating public like they are stupid and that is just not acceptable. If we r viewing the program then thats revenue for the program. If we dont watch wat do u think happens? Lost respect 4 Simon. Dont treat me like im stupid Simon. Actually its all the judges. I mean Louis putting the Twins into live shows is all part of the format. What will happen next year I wonder, lets see, that woman with the non singing dog will get thru to live shows with Louis as mentor, old ladies and dog lovers will vote for them, Simon will criticise the act but they will keep gettin thru under public votes, Simon will realise that with the votes that particular act is bringing in revenue, and once again we will see potential talent being voted off but in the sly way of saying lets take it to the public vote. Try this: Lets say u paid good money to see U2 in concert and wen u got there all they did was jump around having a mild fit as one of the judges put it about Jedward, and then U2 then began to sing out of tune, would you not think that you have completely wasted your money? How long to you think the viewing public will keep putting up with watching absolute talentless acts knocking out acts that deserve to go thru Simon? Think how great the show would be if all the most talented acts got thru to 1/4 finals semi finals and finals, and how much that would raise the game in every act. We could then be proud of the fact that we have talent that can go and represent Britain around the world and show them what we have got. Right now acts dont really have to raise their game as the competition is Jedward, all they have to do is raise their personality and image. I watch X factor for the X factor not the Cr_p factor. I was a huge Xfactor fan since the start, but now like a great many viewers I will not be watching anymore, I absolutely loved the huge competition that it used to be, but you are taking the mickey out of the viewing public and for some strange reason you think we cant see it, thats not the way to treat the people who really put the show where it is is it? I will watch Strictly from now on as it still is a real competition. There the public get to vote their favourite, and yes people do in there sometimes vote for people they like rather than who is the best, but at least the judges do the right thing an put thru the act with the higher talent or the most likely to progress, oh but not xfactor, its all about the money and we get treated like we are stupid. The very least you should do now is to get rid of the mentoring thing and take the show back to what it should be about the acts and their talents, and not the egos of the judges who are ruining what was once a brilliant program. To everyone else out there who may agree, ban yourselves from watchin for a couple of weeks and lets see ratings go down, that will give Simon something to think about. If we did it it could work, its just dependant on all of us who agree and who r fed up, working together. I refuse to be treated like an idiot, how about you?

  374. I have always defended Simon Cowell and believed he was fair, honest and knew what he was talking about. But I am bitterly disappointed at the way Lucie Jones was treated on Sunday. It is clear that all the hype about a contest for SINGERS only counts if it fits into the deplorable money making ways.
I can think of only two reasons for his decision.
    1. As stated in the press he is prepared to make John & Edward a money spinning duo despite their lack of talent.
    2. He is knowingly getting rid of all the talent and keeping in the weaker contestants to ensure one of his group wins.
Either way it is a shocking state of affairs playing with other peoples dream and aspirations. Shame on you.
I for one will never watch X Factor again and from what I hear there are alot people like me. Remember we are the only true judges and if everyone feels the way I do viewing figures will drop and there will no longer be an X Factor.

Simon has spent weeks saying how awful the idiot twins are and then, when given an opportunity to get rid of them he backed down. So much for a singing contest and searching for the next singer for the charts. Simon can take the program and … find a new audience. I won’t be watching and I know other viewers feel the same.

Simon Cowell was totally spineless, he had his chance(the one he said he had been waiting for ) to not only crush the obnoxious little irish git but also to get rid once and for all the deadful hidious twins. They cant sing, can hardly dance and look awful. I thought xfactor was a singing talent show, but now can only assume that maybe they are looking for some wierd cicus act. Simon.. you are just a self opininated pratt, after this display you can no longer call yourself an informed “judge” you made a big-big blunder and hopefully you will suffer the same indignation that you handed out to Lucie. X factor has become a shambles this series, and I think its time to pack it up.

    Comment by Tommo — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 19:15

  386. You are right Claire it is only a show but Simon Cowell has lost a huge amount of credibility in this series and in particular last night! He says one thing and then does the opposite! Without question Lucie is a class act and consistently one of the best acts. We are led to believe that Simon has already predetermined he wants a male winner this year and also that he discussed the result (which he apparently never knows) in the advert break before dismissing Lucie. One has to admire the dignified manner in which she has conducted herself and hopefully will find the success her talent deserves away from the Cowell stable!Like thousands of others will not be wasting my time again on this second rate farce!!

Obviously she was lacking likeability from the public for her to be in the bottom 2 anyways! I do think she was a great singer but i was glad when Simon let it go to the public vote, Jedward will hardly win the show but there good entertanment to keep in for now, Hahahaha! i defo look forward to watchin them, thats obviously why people are voting for them, it was upto the public and the public kept them in so leave it out n cut simon some slack.

  389. I always thought that Simon Cowell was a man to be respected, but I think what happened last night was disgusting. Lucie may not have been a potential winner in his eyes, but szhe was far more worthy of going through than John & Edward. Simon said it would be judged on the song they sang in the head to head, Lucie sang hers brilliantly…whereas John & Edward leapt about the stage like two year olds. Shame on you Simon, you have let your own programme and the public who vote down badly!

  390. I am very upset about unjustice and Simon decision as much as ready not watch to show… Actally main thing we DON’T VOTE ANYMORE – that’s how show makes money and that’s how we can show OUR DISAGREEMENT…That might teach them some lesson…

    Comment by Tanya — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 19:56

  391. The X-factor has each year become more and more about the judges and less about the talent. Each week the show devotes more and more time to the judges which in turn reduces the focus on the talent within the show. Finally, Simon had the chance to remove the most talentless finalists, which he has recognised week in week out, but instead he sent home Lucie, a genuine contender for the final in order to safeguard his over 25’s.
All the auditionee’s want to impress Simon more than any of the judges as he used to be the only judge to give acurate feedback that the public would almost certainly agree with. However, it would appear that the backlash against his decision to send Lucie home may be his first truly wrong decision which will cause him to loose face with he voting public.

  396. Wannabe disney princess who as Simon quite rightly pointed out couldn’t really hit the high notes. We have Aly & AJ, Lalaine, Hilary Duff, Jesse McCartey, Keke Palmer, Corbin Bleu, Lindsay Lohan, Ashley Tisdale, etc, etc. Unfortunately although Lucie is almost as good as any of the above – she didn’t really have anything different to offer. John and Edward – say what you like, but they are different – my kids love them as do the kids of all my friends. The one act I don’t want to miss every week – the rest I can take or leave. More people voted for them – get over it. And all you sad haters who are “never going to watch again” will be writing in again next week after you watch John and Edward get closer to the final. Live and let live, they are just having fun and being entertaining (on a light entertainment show) – Geddit!

  401. To be fair Rachael was much better in her sing off with Lloyd as well, and there was very little said about it when she was voted off. Have a listen to the twins singing with any props through the below link

  402. they should scrap the song for survivial then, your not telling me that Jedwards vocals were better than Lucies, simon said before the singing that it would be based on the best vocals, so whats going on simon??? i hope that one of his acts are in the bottom next week along with Jedward and Danni takes it to public vote.

  403. Week in and week out these Judges state that they love the show, as it allows them to find roar Talent where they would not normally look. Well I Really Cannot say enough that they have just lost one of those and those twins are the biggest joke if I have ever seen one!
I loved watching this show because of those deserving talents but I really do not get it this season what so ever!

  404. Simon said he would judge the two acts on there singing on that final song they sang and he went against his word he thought of the future and past and not on how well lucy sang and how rubbish shitwood were and the main problem is that simon doesnt want compertition for his 3 bum chums 2 of them are good but the other one isnt. JOE TO WIN ALL THE WAY LOSER SIMON

  405. You have lost all your credibility Cowell! The show has turned into a circus and there is no way I’d watch X-Factor again. Not only you have destroyed the hopes of 2 talented singers – Rachel and Lucy – but you are turning 2 little boys – John and Edward – into the most hated contestants in history. …All because of your financial greed. Have you ever thought about what these 2 boys will become post X-Factor? This is so cruel. Maybe the people still watching the show should vote for them so that you can sign them up for the record contract.

  406. This is the sixth series of X Factor following two series of Pop Idol. There is now a distinct lack of talent coming forward. There is no outstanding act in this series. All the contestants have had at least one performance when they have been out of tune. The twins and Lloyd have been out of tune every week.Simon Cowell is a clever businessman he knows that shows which have controversy thrive. The only way this series was going to attract attention was to have a controversial act. Why else were the twins put in.
The last three series have got steadily worse. Hopefully this year’s farce will see the end of the X Factor.

  407. i think simon cowell has no backbone he had the chance to vote of john and edward and didnt have the guts to do it he is only trying to protect his own acts because he knew lucie had a chance of winning the competition and louie has no taste in music otherwise john and edward wouldnt even have been in the live shows simon made a big mistake and i personaly wont be watching xfactor again due to the complete idiot simon cowell is.

  408. until sunday night i had huge respect for the judgement of simon. he has now lost that credability. the panel should now be letting the contestants sing for their place and leave any comments to themselves. i think that the public should be alerted to the total votes that each contestant receives each week. they can then guage the true popularity of the contestant and the need to vote. perhaps broadcasting the votes 2 hours before phone lines close would spur people to vote. why was simon given the last vote 2 weeks running?

    Comment by ex-xfactor fan — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 23:32

  409. oh and by the way to stop all this bickering about bending the rules why not set 6 songs relating to a theme and let the contestants choose what they prefer to sing. it would not matter if some chose the same. and why should they have to change the original arrangement? at the end of the day should they get a recording contract they wont be singing different genres they will be singing to their strength which is what i would prefer to hear each week

    Comment by ex-xfactor fan — Monday, 9 November, 2009 @ 23:51

  410. i wont bother watching it ever again, is simon stupid or just deaf. Or is he scared of decent competition, he must be thick to go to the public vote (knowing full well that all the 10 year olds have used the phone without their parents knowing).
Lucy was amazing, she never should have gone!!!

  411. Simon take note the public are voting -not for your acts but on your deplorable behaviour and superficial calculation!!

I hope that everyone who has said that they will switch off will do so and not provide any further revenue to Cowell entertainments by voting at all.

    Comment by Michelle — Tuesday, 10 November, 2009 @ 01:08

  412. The easiest way to register any kind of protest at this weeks fiasco is either to NOT watch Saturday the 14th show OR DO NOT Vote.

    Simple.

No votes means revenue drops and the public have spoken

  413. we all say simon slagged the twins off for not being able to sing, which he did..BUT i read that IN jUne before xfactor began the boys auditioned & were sent packing then simon got wind of them & told someone( I heard) they will be big, theyl go far.lol So who really is their mentor.? Louis doing as he’s been told to do & keep the lads in the last 12 when everyone knew they were not good enough for last 12.Miss frank & his other group were far better than dumb & dumber but louis didnt bother.. simon says JUMP and louis danni and MAYBE? cheryl jump to his tune. simon pays the wages & they will do as they are told.lol Yes its a farce..Simon said lucie couldnt win anyway? HOW does he know IF? its a public vote? can he foresee how people will vote? haha! Of course not BUT he knows who’s going to win & who’s not. He’s done it for a few yrs. Wasnt some phone lines blocked one yr for someone? so of course HIS favourite won. he doesn’t care because we are all stupid while we are voting for any, he’s getting rich off the phone calls.
as he said jedward are more entertaining.lol pity he’s running the wrong show.lol Even then they wouldnt have won on there? unless simon put them through.
he needs to leave the country, I believe he’s already th9ught about quitting x factor anyway so a good excuse for him to & put another performing puppet in his place.

  414. To Danni and Cheryl … now would be the time to consider handing in your resignation and still maintain your dignity. This is “Simon’s show” and he no doubt will say “the show must go on” no matter how ridiculous it get’s… This is honestly the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen – and having a love of the U.K. but living in Canada/North America – I’ve seen a lot…

    Comment by Rob — Tuesday, 10 November, 2009 @ 07:08

  415. To Simon,

I think the least you could do is offer Lucie a substantial record contract from your label…

    To Lucie,

Simon’s comments of you in the past few weeks have been WAY off course.
Waste no time in finding an agent that will introduce you to David Foster in North America. He is a man who can/may give you an even bigger opportunity than you had with X factor in my opinion… Could try going through associates of The Corrs in Dublin– they have had experiences with Mr. Foster.just my .02 cents (pence :) .

  416. Cannot believe what Cowell did on Sunday. The only reason I can see for his appalling decision was to remove an act who he saw as a threat to his own. Week after week he has correctly described the twins as awful and yet didn’t take the opportunity to remove them. Yes, he is correct, Lucie did get fewest votes, probably because all of Wales voted for Lloyd after he was in the bottom two the previous week, but the reason the judges get a vote is to prevent situations like this. If the judges do not properly exercise their discretion they should not be judges, if Simon Cowell genuinely cannot decide between Lucie and Jedward he should not be there. Louie was always going to support them so don’t blame him. The show has now lost all credibility and I won’t be watching again. I hope those that do gain their revenge on Simon by getting rid of his 3 acts over the next 3 weeks. Sorry for the guys but the show is no longer about talent and has run its course.

    Comment by Mike — Tuesday, 10 November, 2009 @ 08:57

  417. surely if the twins win then it is a sign that the x factor shows that the sun is setting on the show. If the twins win, does this equate to a public vote against the show which should be axed?

poor lucie by the way – probably her one big chance gone because simon is playing cynical games to keep peoples money rolling in, tut tut…. boycott the show, this is a money spinning excercise and nothing to do with talent

    Comment by marc — Tuesday, 10 November, 2009 @ 09:30

  418. X factor has gone from a talent show to a farce thanks to Simon Cowell. He had the chance to get rid of Jedward and seeing as he thinks they can’t sing why did he not vote them out. Your not telling me that even though Lucy may not have won the competition that she was not better than those two?

It’s a disgrace………..If another real singer goe’s out this week instead of those two talentless idiots then it’s time to boycott what has become a joke!!
    Don’t watch and don’t vote!!!!!!

    Comment by chris — Tuesday, 10 November, 2009 @ 11:42

  419. I cannot believe what Simon did. I thought Cheryl might have voted for the twins but not Simon. He has lost all street cred and we all now know it is all to do with making money and TV ratings nothing about the acts. I have never liked the fact that the singers are divided into groups and each vote for their own act – I much prefered Pop Idol.
I will not be watching it anymore. I think it is best if the public switched off, but probably they won’t but the next best thing is don’t waste your money on voting or buying the records or going to see them. As it is the public who is paying the judges wages without us ringing up the show won’t survive.

    Comment by Debra Hopper — Tuesday, 10 November, 2009 @ 11:58

  420. I thought Simon said on Sunday he would vote fairly and keep the act in he thought had the best vocals! Well, that went right out of the window then!!! Lucy was absolutely superb, the brats were (yet again) totally out of tune and deadwood frankly, yet cowardly Simon puts it to the public vote; the best chance he ever had of ridding us of the vile brats and he couldn’t/wouldn’t do it – spineless! No point in voting, we all know who is going to win – but it’s lost all credibility now – singing competition? I should have entered myself – I CAN’T possibly be any worse than brats are us – show’s over after this years’s farce!!!

    Comment by hating the brats — Tuesday, 10 November, 2009 @ 11:58

  421. Simon did really right. He has three persons that he mentors. He simply promote directly his competitors. He states simply: none will win the show, so he can have a promotion for it’s future competitors. Also, Lucie was a stronger competitor than JEdwards regarding voice instead Ollie, and also Lucie could be in a later stage a stronger competitor for Jamie. I think that was just a domino piece of Simon.
JEdwards out of their voice are really nice performers, I honestly know really a few to be so versatile, even not always are on my taste. The Halloween faces were really great and I’m certain that they have a lot of fans. For certain they are popular with girls.

  422. I don’t know why everybody is saying we should not vote for Jedward. I think we should all vote for them every week so that they win the competition. Simon has turned the SINGING contest into a total farce so we should give him a farcical winner. Hopefully he will then leave the country as he said he would.

    Comment by Bill McLean — Tuesday, 10 November, 2009 @ 14:59

  423. What with the judges all protecting their own acts and idiots like Simon Cowell making stupid decisions like he did this week – why let the judges vote at all ??
Just leave it to the public !! We might not get it right all the time but in previous years common sense and good taste has prevailed eventually.
I have been an avid watcher of the X Factor for years but I will not watch this pantomime any longer. Please follow the rest of us who will switch off and cut off Simon’s cash flow !!!

    Comment by Ian Wallis — Tuesday, 10 November, 2009 @ 15:20

  424. Just one thing too say. I am so disappointed that Simon did not have the bottle too vote off the worst act. After all this is a contest. Well I thought it was. Simon what you might see happening is your acts being in the bottom 2 as it looks to me like you have just alienated most of the population of the UK who will not vote for any of your acts. If you ask me you have brought this on yourself. All you guys out there. Go and buy Laura Whites new single its amazing.

  425. oh my god!!! why would lucie go.She is fantastic and jedward are not. i think simon needs a brain job on this particular voting. I am going to start my poem on why lucie should of not gone. I mean jedward are funny but in a comedian type, in singing they are crap so please simon think in future i miss ya lucie x good luck for the future

  426. Simon Cowell , I have always respected what you have commented on in the past, but this time I feel you have lost a lot of fans through your disgraceful decision on Sunday night. Lucie did not deserve to go home and you know that as well as the millions of viewers watching. Lucie could have gone a very long way, but now lost out so you could make more viewers tune in to watch how the twins go on. Well I think it may have backfired as I for one am now finished with Xfactor. The twins cannot sing and it is a singing contest, but they are entertaining to watch . Like you said yo
urself Simon , you would not like to listen to them them on the radio. Shame on you Simon I am so disappointed you allowed talent to go, in favour of TV ratings.

I dont like Jedward but they are better singes that Lloyd he is just getting through because of his looks and Jedward are getting through because they are entertaning

So STOP blaming Poor Simon for everything!!!!

  428. Simon – this is a singing contest not a talent show, it seems simon has no balls just lately, what a load of crap, it all seems to be about the judges and not the contestants this year.

  429. lucie should not have gone she was one of the best singers in the show! Simon just wanted to get rid of her so his acts can win. He said he’d vote on who gave the best performance but he didn’t! X Factor’s a joke
    Lucie all the way! x

  431. I cannot believe that when it comes down to it he puts money before moral justice and instinct. He knows that some of the public like John and Edward and wanted to give the public what they wanted instead of voting for the better singer. It is a singing competition. I daresay that they have a place in the entertainment world but it is not singing and dancing!!
No time for the hipocracy of it all now so will not be watching on Sat and that if everyone does it it will affect the ratings!!

    Comment by Irene Gow — Tuesday, 10 November, 2009 @ 20:53

  432. Can’t understand this show this year . Having been massive fans will now no longer be wathcing as it is clearly a farce . Lucie Jones is an amazing singer and should be in the competition . This programme has become more about egotistic judges than about the talent of people trying to win it .

    Comment by duncan's — Tuesday, 10 November, 2009 @ 21:17

  433. What a complete load of tosh! Lucie Jones has an outstanding voice and quite frankly if she was to bring out a record tomorrow, I would certainly buy it, as I will do with Laura White. ‘Simon you have sadly lost the respect of the British Public with this decision.Bad move!

    Comment by Fiestafolie — Tuesday, 10 November, 2009 @ 21:33

  434. It is now alleged that the Coward had in depth discussions with the producer just before the sing off so was probably informed of the voting, and new by taking it to the vote would get rid of Lucie and could blame the public. We all know that sometimes a good act will end up in the bottom 2 due to complacency in the thought that as they performed well would be safe. It should then be down to the judges to save an act if they believe them to be the best. And after berating the twins for weeks he should have done the honourable thing and saved Lucie. He should now do the next best thing and resign. You can all watch if you want but the best way to hit him in the pocket (which all these tricks are for) is by not voting and giving him the money for your phone call
