Now that Simon Cowell has revamped the auditions and boot camp process for the X Factor with a live audience, he’s got his sites set on making the live shows bigger and better too.
“Thousands of people got to see the contestants through the audition stages and we think it may look a bit weird going from these huge theatres to Fountain Studios, which can’t hold that many people.
If we were to move to a bigger place like the Excel Centre in east London we could have loads of fans in to watch the live shows and make it more like a concert every Saturday night.” a spokesman for the X Factor was quoted as saying.
It might only be the boot-camp stage, with the judge’s categories still to be announced, but it seems Cheryl Cole is already the bookie’s favourite to win the X Factor 2009.
Cheryl, who mentored 2008 winner Alexandra Burke, is ahead of Simon Cowell and then Dannii Minogue, with Louis Walsh, who mentored 2005 winner Shayne Ward in last place.
But things could all change once the categories are announced, and we’ll have the news for you on who’s got what very soon!
X Factor fans in London spotted the Simon Cowell and his team of judges in London on the Thames earlier this week.
It seems that even a limousine is no longer swish enough for Cowell, Cole, Minogue and Walsh, who are filming the new opening sequence for the X Factor, which sees them arriving via a speedboat on the Thames, 007 style.
Passers-by on the riverside claim to have seen arguing between Dannii and Cheryl. Dannii Minogue didn’t re-sign for the series until the last minute, after speculation of her animosity towards Cheryl Cole.
Viewers can see the new opening credits when the X Factor returns next month!
It seems that this year, not only are the judges auditions being performed in front of a live ‘Britain’s Got Talent’-style audience, but boot-camp is too!
If you’d like to visit bootcamp to watch rather than sing, you can sign up for free tickets at The Applause Store. Boot-camp takes place at the Hammersmith Apollo this Saturday, the 1st of August, and like the competition is open only to those aged 16 or over.
