Scott Bruton third act to leave X Factor 2008

Scott Bruton and Danny Evans made up the bottom two on X Factor this week, after singing “That’s Life” in the main contest, and “I Can’t Make You Love Me” in the final decider.

For the first time this series, the decision wasn’t a deadlock after three judges chose to send Scott home.

  1. what a load of rubbish, scott was much better than daniel. they only put him through because of his story not his talent! i wonder what would have happened had it been laura white would he still have got through because of his story! this show is becoming a joke and i’ve loved it from day one!

  2. basically- why wasn’t Daniel Evans and Ruth Lorenzo in the HERO’s single song when it was performed onstage?

  3. what a load of rubbish this week was .since when did x factor become a bleeding heart programe so dannys wife died millions do every day but people get on with it he was tone deaf and flat most of the way through tonight and just cause he made a few judges howl he gets to stay over a far better singer than he will ever be through the show they were slating the guy saying he was a end of the pier cabaret act but he gives em a few crocidile tears and suddenly hes no 1 very disapointed in it and think the descision should be reversed or at least make sure that fat freak gets booted this week

  4. what a load of rubbish putting daniel through scott was much better the judges were doing the sympathy vote he cant even keep a note wait till they do the replay i hope simon tells them off

  5. Dissapointed in the voting this week. How after weeks of telling Daniel he couldn’t possibly win the comp and cheryl’s comment that he would be difficult to market. They suddenly vote for him over Scott. They’re always banging on about vocals and how this is a singing contest. I would say Scott had much better vocal and would improve as he got more confidence.

  6. I say Yeah yeah!!!! poor poor Scott has left the competition, but he was not bad at all.All contestants were incredily brilliant in their performances tonight including Scotts version of the frank Sinatra swing. He was quite brilliant and we did enjoy his song, but sad to see him go and hope he’ll pick it up from outta there.Twas difficult picking an act who dint up their game.

  7. Unfortunatly I think the wrong person went home, it was not a fair Sing off I feel although it must be horrible to Lose someone special, Daniel used that to his advantage to get a sympathy vote, how the hell is a young boy supposed to compete against real grief?

    Comment by Rik — Sunday, 26 October, 2008 @ 13:25

  8. i didnt watch it :( i definitely thought those two were the weakest but scott was better than daniel. scott shouldn’t have gone.

    Comment by hannah — Sunday, 26 October, 2008 @ 14:27

  9. scott shouldnt have gone, he was the far better singer vocaly, maybe if his mum had died loui would have kept him in??? ooh and isnt it strange that hes lost 2 groups and simon hadnt lost anyone???

  10. It was a brilliant week this time with the Big Band sound. I really feel for Scott he was good and did’nt deserve to go this week. I feel whoever had been in the bottom 2 with Daniel Evans would have lost because it was all won on the emotional vote this week. Daniel is not one of the best singers. and certainly wont win the XFactor and I think Louis Walsh should have taken this one to Deadlock to have got the public vote

    Comment by Denise — Sunday, 26 October, 2008 @ 16:13

  11. I’m so happy to find out that I’m not the only one disappointed with the decision last night.
And I just can NOT believe that sob stories are over true talent.
THIS IS A TALENT SHOW FOR GOD SAKE! We all have difficulties in our lives, but not because of that we should all go and sing on TV and be given more chances than people with real talent!

  12. For as dreadful and devastating as it must have been for Danny when his wife passed on am I the only person who thinks the contestants should be judged wholly on their talent and performance…… and not who has the most tearful story to tell. The fact Danny was in the bottom 2 tells me the public are now judging him on his X Factor! Unfortunately the judges are obviously not playing fair and are being blinded by the emotion of the situation. It clearly devalues the contest.
What odds on a Danny and John Sergeant double!

  13. What sort of a s**t drags his dead wife out continuously to justify his grubby desire to be in showbiz? He cannot sing, he cannot act, he cannot dance and his repulsive cheesy grin and nauseating stage presence make my stomach churn. If the next nine weeks will continue with this talentless toad bursting into tears whenever he’s threatened with eviction it will destroy what little artistic credibility this show still has. GET RID OF HIM!!!

    Comment by E Wilson — Sunday, 26 October, 2008 @ 19:57

  14. I watched the decision last night in disbelief. Scott should have gone through to next week’s disco night. Daniel again had the sympathy vote. I cannot believe that the panel let Daniel go through. Shame on them!

    Comment by SUZANNE — Sunday, 26 October, 2008 @ 20:01

  15. very poor decision to send soott home,he was far better than danny.feeling sorry for danny was not the right reason to keep him in

    Comment by heather hartley — Sunday, 26 October, 2008 @ 20:29

  16. Why was there no footage of Daniel or Rachal in the Hero song although they said all 12 finalists sang it?

    Comment by Shirl — Sunday, 26 October, 2008 @ 21:45

  17. im totally shocked by the results on saturday, danny was not better than scott.i thought it was a singing comp not feeling sorry for comp!!!
scott isnt my fav to win but the judges said that was the best performance by him and they werent that fussed by dannys performance but send scott home it should hav gone to public vote

    Comment by kelly — Monday, 27 October, 2008 @ 11:11

  18. The judges are always saying that talent should come before anything else but contradicted thenselves when they let Daniel through on an emotional vote.Scott was clearly more talented.

    Comment by jennifer simpson — Monday, 27 October, 2008 @ 15:16

  19. scott should not have gone,I dont think he would have won,but he was the better singer. it makes me angry that he got through on the sympathy vote.

    Comment by sonya — Monday, 27 October, 2008 @ 16:21

  20. result was shocking
Daniel should have been voted off, he played the sob story again,, we’ve all heard it and were over it. the truth is the judges were wrong they should be putting people through because of the way they sound not because of what has happened to them. it was really wrong

    Comment by rebecca — Monday, 27 October, 2008 @ 16:41

  21. I couldn’t agree more with E Wilson – this loser already released an album that was a flop, now we have to listen to him milking a personal tragedy for all it’s worth. People lose loved ones every day, including past X Factor contestants, but they don’t go around milking it for all its worth. If he really loved her all that much, surely he’d keep their special songs as a personal memory, not use them to manipulate the judges, who clearly are out of touch with the general public. Perhaps X Factor should be re-named “Sob Story” because it’s certainly not about the talent anymore.

    Comment by Mim — Monday, 27 October, 2008 @ 16:43

  22. I agree with all the comments that Daniel got through on the sympathy vote. I found it incredulous that after everything that was said about Daniel two neutral judges put him through. As for Louis tears ….. well!!! If justice were to be done then bring Scott back this week and eliminate 2 at the end of the show!

    Comment by Carol — Monday, 27 October, 2008 @ 21:30

  23. scott should have gone home, i liked scott in the interview as being cheeky but as he was pulled out as being in the bottom two he got sulky like a prima donna, not a good role model for our kids.with saddend heart i felt he just did not sing in the play off so the right man got to stay.

    Comment by rose — Monday, 27 October, 2008 @ 21:48

  24. Sorry guys but in the sing off Scott let himself down thoroughly. As Louis said, he just went through the motions. When it come sto choosing who can make it as a top performer it is highly unlikley that Daniel can but nor can Scott when he just stands there shaking his head and feeling sorry for himself. Part of that sort of success is about being ontop of yourslef no matter what happens. daniel put his heart and soul into that last song – he didn’t just sulk because he was in the bottom two. Scott let himself down and unless he can get over that sort of reaction he will get nowhere.

  25. Scott, all i could say is that it was fate, now i wish you all the best!, you have everything in you to be a pop star, never let your dreams shatter, because there are millions there who love you and were extremely upset you were gone from X factor. Everyone had a tremendous shock! Just take care of yourself, and I want to see you as a pop star in another two three years time! You can do it!

    Comment by MaK — Tuesday, 28 October, 2008 @ 09:28

  26. What a big baby Scott was, he sulked and acted like a spoilt child, it was awkward watching Dermot trying to get him to talk, he should have taken it on the chin, grow up Scott. maxine

  27. What is the point of having a public vote when the worst and least popular of the night gets a second chance? C’mon, Joe Public!…You are paying your hard earned money to save your favourite, only to have them ousted by the dross. Why should there be a ‘bottom 2′ What if there is 10,000 votes between those 2? Is it then fair that the judges can just disregard this when a sob story reappears? Plus after being told you are in that ‘bottom 2′ of course you aren’t then going to give your best performance! Make this competition fair and just go with the public vote- end of story. Then again, we all know ITV and their history of fairness in competitions! Im going off this show rapidly. Keep sentiment out of Talent Shows!

  28. Scott is too much of a cry baby to make it in the music industry. He sulks when given any kind of critisim. He did not perform well in the sing off and was like a sulky school boy. I think it is ridiculous that he is now saying that he wants out of his contract so that he can make it alone. I think X factor should release him and lets see if we ever hear of him again.

    Comment by Jemima — Wednesday, 29 October, 2008 @ 10:07

  29. sorry guys who have been supportin scott,
but i thought scott should have gone that night cos scott were just standin there, nd just movin his hands then sing..

he was like.. soo miserable because he was the bottom two.. he just let himself down!

  30. Again, Simon apologised after the sing off results that the stage doors slammed/shut either before or when Ruth and Daniel were about the join the other contestants on stage for the HERO song, hence their absence. so take note guys.

  31. I would like to know if anyone else was offended by the way Rachel wore her poppy. It looked to me as if she was made to wear it and didn’t want to. The poppy was facing the far left hand side of her and hidden under her armpit for most of her performance. A poppy is symbolic and should be worn with pride in full view for everyone to see facing frontwards pinned to the front of an outfit. I feel insulted by the way she wore her poppy.

  32. I must admit. I agree. Daniel Evans deserves to be there as much as Sooty would.

He’s sob story is ridiculous now. So what you lost someone. Get over it. Life goes on.

You took away Scotts dream. Scott was sooo much better than Daniel.

I cannot believe that Daniel Evans is such a callous man in order to use the death of his wife to his advantage.

    Comment by aimee — Tuesday, 4 November, 2008 @ 13:44

  33. In my opinion I think that Daniel should not be there, I cannot believe that he was chosen as a better singer than Austin. I think in all honesty, Austin is passionate about singing, but as Simon Cowell once said, Austin does appear desperate. I think Austin is good, but overall, he’s not mature enough to cope with fame right now. I think the best one right now is Alexandra, who for me, has everything.
