Theme for next week: Big Band

The theme for the third week of live X Factor 2008 shows has been revealed – it’s big band week!

We’ll let you know the details on who’s singing what as soon as we have them, until then – who do you think this style will suit best? Add your comments below!

  1. Please make Austin Drage do Bruce Springsteen singing “Dancin’ in the Dark” because he looks like him and could dance like him.

    Thank you!

  4. Springsteen wouldn’t fit the Big Band theme, would it?

I think this will sort out the good singers from the otherwise. Scott could struggle as we’ve already seen when he did “Yea, Yea”, which is in the same catagory.
It will be fine for Austin as he can sing anything

  5. i am SO SO angry with Simons comments about the over 60’s, tucking us up in a corner like we dont matter,IE ‘YOU WILL ONLY GET THE GRANNYS VOTE’ I want him to know that I have picked out the winner (at the first audition stage) each year from and including Shayne Ward there are a lot of us over 60’s that watch and vote so Simon dont write us off. who says that because we have a few years under our belts that we dont know a good sound when we hear it.
my tip for this year is Laura White

  6. I reckon Daniel could do quite well with the big band, he’s got that “golden oldie” thing workin for him.

i’m looking forward to diana’s song but i’m worried i’ll get bored of her by the time the final gets here…

I can’t stand Rachel and the sooner she gets out of the show the better!

my wife loves Austin, he bores me!

ruth should be interesting but I swear if JLS end up sitting on stools with a tuxedo on that isn’t done up properly, Take That style, i’m gunna launch a remote at the tv!!!!

  7. Scott might suit it given that he has that swing vibe going but this isn’t my kind of music so it might not be an enjoyable week for me. I think some of the big singers such as Diana, Laura, Rachal and Alexandra might pull it off, however, it’s one of those weeks where some of the contestants have to sing out of their comfort zone again so it’s going to be a tough week.

  8. wow! Alexandra and Ruth and Scott..were so incredibly good in their band perfomances..
    Loved it, esp Alexandra.

  9. It’s bad form to mime the “Hero” song. They really should have sung live. Lame.

    Comment by Chaza — Saturday, 25 October, 2008 @ 21:26

  10. Can somebody please explain why Scott was taken out he should have not been in the last two to begin with.
Daniel was very crafty to use that song but with no talent whatsoever!!!!! why does a woman who has a voice like a dying whale and I am talking about Diana
still in it. Get real people listen to the voices of the singers Scott should have never gone.

  11. great show tonight
i was hoping that diana was in the bottom 2 along with scott not daniel cuz at least daniel has raw talent and hasnt been vocally trained all along like diana

  12. Well, last nights voting off results were a real hypocracy! After all this is supposed to be a talent competition not one of ’sympathy’. I understand it must be tough for Daniel, but when the judges said they wanted the singers to show their ‘passion’ surely they meant a passion for the song they were singing and their self beliefas future pop stars, not because they were singing for a loved one? In 1 breath Louie questions why Daniel is even in the show and then votes for him to stay in, purely based on the fact he may have touched a heart string! This is not the point of the show is it? I shall send in my mediocre singing partner and have him tell his sad tale of losing his father and hope for the best sould I? THIS SHOW IS A FARCE!

  13. How much longer can Daniel trade on sympathy?

    Comment by Jay — Sunday, 26 October, 2008 @ 12:58

  14. is only me but does diana sing the same every week they knocked alexandra for not being versitile so why havent diana had the put downs

    Comment by para — Sunday, 26 October, 2008 @ 13:41

  15. Did anyone else not predict that Scott would go after Daniel played for the sympathy vote?

  16. scott wasnt great but better than daniel while i feel sorry for him he is only getting through because of sob story we have all lost someone my mum died when i was two but the world dosnt owe me a living because of this

    Comment by olive — Monday, 27 October, 2008 @ 14:22

  17. Isabel,

I totally agree with your comments about the over sixties. I am eighty one and like you I think Laura is definitely the frontrunner.

    Comment by Violet — Monday, 27 October, 2008 @ 22:11

  18. I cant believe that sentimental trick sent kept daniel on the show. Both of them were weak comparing to the others. It’s not fair, should be all about singing… not about what make you cry more.

    Comment by Sophie Bello — Tuesday, 28 October, 2008 @ 01:50

  19. cant belive daniel stayed in he is only getting trough because of sob story everybody has lost someone laura deserves to win

  20. What is the deal with the ridiculous comments that come out of Louis Walsh’s mouth. The rivalry between the judges at times becomes cringe worthy! It is supposed to be about the talent. Especially when it comes to the bottom 2 they say it will be based on the last performance, but they vote for their own and then go to deadlock, why don’t they just vote on the last performance like they say they will. Cheryl seems the one who is being the truest to the statements they make.

  21. OMG he is not just getting through the competition because of his story?? you really think that is why the judges would put him through bootcamp and finals?? if that was the case then everyone in the final would have a sob story. this whole “oh hes got a sob story thats the reason for his success” is BULL!! and so old.

    Comment by lindsay — Saturday, 1 November, 2008 @ 23:36

  22. Austin should not of went on sat night, the jugdes just went aginst the best becasuse they want their own to win!! not fare at all!! and eoghan should def go!! Alexandra should win amazin voice!!

  23. I think the judges on X-Factor acted disgracefully last night – Laura is one of the best talents EVER seen on X-Factor, the result was obviously orchestrated. a blatent fix! Our family will now BOYCOT this series in support of Laura.
Louis and Dani’s final comments were not congruent with earlier comments – which suggests something was going on. It’s sad to see that talent, decency and hard work does not pay – this is not the behaviour that we want to display to our younger generation.
Simon and his show should seriously reflect on the messages sent out from last nights show.

  24. Oh dear, I do get so frustrated at the voting. It almost makes want to stop watching the programme. Please get Daniel off, he looks shifty and can’t sing. I don’t know why he is still there. Rachel has not ever sung a song that has been right for her and the clothes she is put into do not suit her, give her a chance, her voice is amazing. How can Laura and Austin be voted off when Daniel is still there?!

It is a forgone conclusion that Diana will win, she is a POP idol and will make a hit with youngsters, girls and young men, she is so lovely and DIFFERENT. I missed her this week, hope she is better. I have never felt let down with her voice and I would buy her records and I am quite OLD!!!

  25. Sorry but I am afraid I am really beginning to dislike the compare. He makes remarks that are not funny towards the judges and contestants and he just isn’t funny. He is so dull I can’t even remember his name. At first I was indifferent but as the weeks go by I realise he irritates me. Please don’t have him back, I have to keep going onto the ‘mute’ when he speaks.

    Comment by Julia Ray — Monday, 10 November, 2008 @ 15:31

  26. Simon Cowell is the only one who knows what he is talking about and always has, followed by Cheryl Cole who is lovely.

    Comment by Julia Ray — Monday, 10 November, 2008 @ 15:34

  27. Do something about that FAKE Daniel still being there. I’m sick of people using their tales of woe to win votes. All the crying that goes on is too much, don’t subject the audience to too much of it, it is sickning and reflects on what the programmers think of the audience. We are not all stupid. Get Daniel off. I doing even trust him, he is a conman trading on his dead wife.
