Bad Lashes First to Leave X Factor 2008 Live Shows

Filed under: Bad Lashes, Louis Walsh

Last night was the very first live X Factor show of the series, and what a show!

Some tweaks have been made to the shows format, most notably with the option for the bottom acts to sing a different song to try and convince the public to keep them in. Bad Lashes sang ‘Wonderwall’ as their second song, but their attempt proved to be futile, and so yet again Louis Walsh is the first judge to lose an act.

  1. I think girlband should have gone not badlashes. Badlashes were better then girlband. P.S. WHY IS VOTING ON THE X FACTOR NO LONGER AVAILABLE IN IRELAND?! We were able to vote last year why not this year?

  2. Agree with Comhall. I preferred Badlashes; and there I was with my phone, all ready to vote from ROI, only to find that I couldn’t! What’s going on??

  3. Just for the record – it’s not the public that the bottom two acts have to try to convince, it’s the judges. If, like last night, the judges cannot decide then it is the act that got the lowest vote in the poll that is already complete who are out. At this stage it is far too late to influence the public.

Have to say that this is a far stronger line up that last year – no offence to the few good acts that were in the final twelve in 2007 but more than half of last year’s finalists simply shouldn’t have been there.

It will be a shame to see most of these acts voted out, nearly all show so much excellent promise.

  4. Flashgun films are proud to announce the release of their latest short film: Gareth’s Story – X Factor Contestant, which features Gareth, a 14 year old boy who just won’t quit. He managed to get through to the second round of X Factor and he really wants to make it as a star. The film shows a day in the life of the singer who travels on his own all over the county singing in the street for tips. He is planning on expanding his trips to include Manchester and maybe even London.

So, do you think Gareth has the X-Factor? Why not click here and find out:

  5. I was appalled at Louis Walsh’s cowardice last night. He ducked out of his responsibility to put the better band though – based on their performance of the second, new song (which incidentally adds something to the format). To invoke the public to decide, when they had voted on the basis of the bands’ live show performance, was a cop out. Bad Lashes lacked a bit of final finesse but their performance was gritty and far more interesting (and vocally proficient) than Girlband who lacked any sparkle and deserved to get the boot. But instead of saying, “Look I support both bands and don’t want to be in this position but I must say that based on the song we’ve just heard … ” Louis chose the easy route out. I have always thought he lacks cojones – this proves it! Let’s vote him off the show and get someone with real presence and music know-how – how much longer is he going to trade on Westlife!

  6. I think Cheryl is the best positioned judge to win the X factor, all her girls are brilliant and they were also the better styled. Girlband looked just plain awful in those dresses, i am sorry to say.
Simon has, in my view the worse category and i truly believe Scott is taking the place of Alan. I admire Simon Cowel, but this year i am disapointed at his choice. He said to Alan: “My heart says yes, but my head says No.” Well clearly MR Cowel, you should have gone with your heart, … but somehow, i get the feeling that Simon Cowel is not a man that lets heart interfere in his decisions.
Finally, i just wanted to say how sorry i am to see bad lashes go, they were not my favourite, so i did not vote for them, but they were not the worse act of the night. The reason i think girlbands don’t do well on X Factor, is because, most people who like girl bands are not in on a Saturday night in front of the telly. They are propably out partying.

  9. This year will be another interesting year for X Factor. I favour Cheryl to win this year – her acts are simply brilliant. I predict either of Diana Vickers or Laura White to win the competition. My heart goes for Diana – her voice can send any guy to eldorado. Rachel Hylton is good no doubts, but over- confidence will kick her out of the competition sooner than she might expect. Anyway I wish all the acts success, but Diana remains the babe.

  10. Erm, I realy prefer Alenxandra, she’s so amazing and her voice???OMG..I just loved the way she pulled off that Whitney houston song! Excellent!Simply brilliant.

Diana was equally alright but stresses a bit too hard and shows a bit too much dramatics..She’ll be better if she lets her voice out smoothly than stressfully.

As for bad lashes, there was nothin wrong with their leaving not just cos they pulled lower votes, but they only managed to pull a bit of fire to their voices on their 2nd perfomance wen they shuld hav done dat right at the begining.plus, they dint look too presentable in terms of dressing cos that counts too..a bit of arrogance /”i know it all” attitude @ simon from one of the gurls so its all good they left.

  12. Diana is the most talented contestant the series has ever saw.Its only my opinion but i have had 3 major record contracts myself[my ex band mate now provides many songs to Simon Cowell] so i think i know just a little. The others[although good singers] have no star quality whatsoever and no song writer will ever give their best songs to those lot.

  13. I really have to question the voting public’s taste.
Diane really gets on my nerves badly. She has this
peculiar, contrived little voice and pronounces ‘you’ in a way that is quite unnecessary.
She is obviously clever though, as she has watched very
closely the artists with odd voices that people seem to
go for – myself most definitely excluded. It is far worse than just a querky sound.

I have to go out of the room when she opens her mouth.
    Bad tempered of Hertfordshire.
