More than 10 million people watched last night’s X Factor 2008 series première - a million more than for the same episode last year.
Amongst the highlights last night were Nikk, a previous contestant on the Popstars: The Rivals, the show which launched judge Cheryl Cole to fame.
Boy band JLS also impressed with their performance which you can see below:
Why the hell did they pick such a thug as Cheryl Cole
to be a Judge. Last year they kicked out a girl that was involved with bullying. Here we have a judge that punched a toilet attendant whilw pissed up.

I agree with Eric it was pathetic when they kicked that poor girl out of the competition for bullying, they should have gave her another chance to put things right, But Cheryl was drunk at the time and the girl who was bullying wasn’t tbh.
I think Cheryl was a great choice of judge on the X Factor this year because she knows what the auditionies are going through and as she was once in their shoes she can give excellant advice to them when they are going wrong! (:
