Rhydian: Judges Don’t Care About Us

X Factor hopeful Rhydian Roberts has spoken out against the judges and producers of the program who he, like Daniel, blames for the premature exit of contestants.

“They’re too rich to give a **** about contestants. I think Dannii does because it’s a big gig for her, and she wants it next year. But the others have got money pouring out of their sweat.”

Rhydian is particularly annoyed about the way he has been presented, with ‘Phantom of the Opera’ regularly playing in the background when he is speaking, intercut with freeze-frame shots to make him seem strange. He says he has been forced to dye his hair and given a ‘ridiculous’ wardrobe to reinforce the image the producers made for him earlier in the series.

Whatever the producers and judges are up to, it doesn’t seem to be working - judging by the comments here at X Factor blog Rhydian is one of the most popular contestants on the show!

  1. Rhidian (or Rhydian?) You have dealt with dignity comments made about you, particularly on air. This will endear you to the viewers. Rise above it where you belong. Your voice, your looks, your personality and your ability as a performer will see you through - this is just the beginning whatever happens.

  3. Rhydian is pure entertainment…love him! Simon Cowell was sooo right saying that he is the one contestant he will look forward to seeing each week. Couldnt agree more….Rhydian has a great voice and fantastic stage presence and is a class act. Cant wait so see what he does on Saturday. Go for it …you are fabulous!!!

  4. You have a wonderful voice. The show is a bit of a farce regarding the judges with their huge egos, but it does give you exposure.

One thing I absolutely hate is seeing people singing with their mouths almost stuck to the microphone, is this necessary, it is important to see a persons mouth when they are singing, in my opinion.

    Keep up the good work.

  6. I write every week with a few song choices for the contestants. This week I did think Rhydian was a bit over the top, but I still liked it. He is way better and more interesting than any of the others. Anyway my song choice for Rhydian is “This town ain’t big enough for the both of us” by Sparks. It would just be GREAT!!!Very dramatic. Don’t worry how you are being portaryed Rhyd, it is definately working, people love you!! Alisha was good this week and Beverley was awesome, good song choice Louis. Puppy Dog Andy to go, too boring. Same Difference are just a joke. I can’t believe Simon picked them to be in his final 3! Love Niki, give her some Dusty Springfield or Cilla to sing.

  7. This performer is SUPERB!
I, sadly, must admit that at first I did have the impression that Rhydian was “queer”, “odd”, a “freak”, a “wierdo”. I have long swept that from my mind and I see him as a very individual person, who actually has a very nice personality.

–**** I personally think that NO QUESTION, THIS IS THE MAN TO WIN THE X FACTOR! ****–

  8. Rhydian might be annoyed that they use Phantom of the Opera as cynical background music, but the producers have had that turned on them, because The Rhyd made that song his absolute own. Talent will always out, and this guy’s got it in bucketloads.

  11. It is a pleasure to listen and watch Rhydian. He is unique by his voice, very different from what we listen every day on radio. He has imposing bearing on stage. it is the only reason why I watch X-factor.

  13. I feel ashamed that soon after a period of remembering our fallen service men and Sharon auctioning her poppy to raise funds for the services we had Rhydian pretending to be a member of the services and salutes the the wrong hand (not once but twice) what a disgrace.

  15. I don.t think sharon should come back next year. she reneiged for a second time to use her judgement and lost another good vocalist a chance to compete next saturday. Hope were terrible but sharon was afraid of over ruling simon. She is like a todler having tantrums. Rydian is by far the out and out winner. He has a classical voice to die for and he is also a born entertainer. How can these two combinations be beat/ I think he will be snapped up and make millions for himself and whoever signs him up

  16. Rhidian, you were fantastic, I want to hear more. when are you putting out your own CD? second place does not been second best, you deserved to be the winner but be assured you will go far with talent like yours. your singing makes my spine tingle and the hairs on my neck stand on end. love you lots

  17. Rhidian, you are fantastic and deserved to win, Leon was good but not THAT good. You are in a league on your own and will go far. With a talent like yours you will still be a star when all the rest have been forgotten.
