X Factor hopeful Rhydian Roberts has spoken out against the judges and producers of the program who he, like Daniel, blames for the premature exit of contestants.
“They’re too rich to give a **** about contestants. I think Dannii does because it’s a big gig for her, and she wants it next year. But the others have got money pouring out of their sweat.”
Rhydian is particularly annoyed about the way he has been presented, with ‘Phantom of the Opera’ regularly playing in the background when he is speaking, intercut with freeze-frame shots to make him seem strange. He says he has been forced to dye his hair and given a ‘ridiculous’ wardrobe to reinforce the image the producers made for him earlier in the series.
Whatever the producers and judges are up to, it doesn’t seem to be working - judging by the comments here at X Factor blog Rhydian is one of the most popular contestants on the show!
The latest contestant to be removed from the X Factor, Daniel de Bourg, has spoken out against his mentor Louis Walsh.
Daniel blamed Louis for forcing him to sing ‘Build me up Buttercup’, a song he says didn’t suit him at all, and led to his premature exit from the show.
“I was surprised, of course I was surprised,” Daniel said at a press conference. “I’m upset that I didn’t get to show the real me.”
“Louis knows what he’s talking about, he’s been in the game for a long time, but maybe he didn’t really understand me, the kind of performer I am.”
“I was doing my best in there with the song I was given, I tried to do it justice,” he added. “But with a show like X Factor you have no say.”
Daniel had previously been the bookie’s favourite to win the show, but his removal leaves the two groups made up of ‘nearly good enough’ singers, Hope and Futureproof tipped as most likely to win.
This week was themed ‘film week’, and the previous bookies favourite Daniel was the second act to be booted off the X Factor.
Three judges voted to remove Daniel from the show, with only Louis, Daniel’s mentor, voting to keep him on.
For the second week running Alisha was also in the bottom two, but survived the judges vote.
Can the performers overcome the understandable case of nerves they felt last week, causing several acts to produce below-par performances?
The only way to find out is to watch - but here’s what they’ll be singing when you do:
Alisha - I say a Little Prayer
Andy - Stayin’ Alive
Beverley - I Have Nothing
Daniel - Build Me Up Buttercup
Emily - I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman
Futureproof - If You Don’t Know Me By Now
Hope - Lady Marmalade
Leon - Home
Niki - My Heart Will Go On
Rhydian - The Phantom of the Opera
Same Difference - Breaking Free
