J-Lo, Celine Dion, Elton John and possibly Kylie Minogue, (Danni’s big sister), have all been approached to appear as mentors on The X Factor.
A show insider has said “Dannii knew Kylie would be perfect as a coach for the show. She’s a superstar and it’s a chance in a lifetime for the contestants to learn from such a pro.”
Dannii recently told The Sun “My family are a big part in everything I do and this is a big part of my life”
Simon Cowell has played down recent rumours which have been circulating about a growing feud between X Factor judges Sharon Osbourne and Dannii Minogue. In a recent interview with The Mirror, Simon Cowell said: “I have seen nothing which makes me think they don’t get on. We’re one big, happy family. I’ve been with them throughout the auditions and I just don’t see it. There were a few days at the start when things were awkward but that was simply because they didn’t know each other”
“Unless I’m the most naive person in the world, there are no rows. Someone is just going about quietly whispering these things, which are a pack of lies. On a couple of occasions things got over-emotional. But there certainly haven’t been any tearful walkouts. Dannii is very much part of the team now – she’s been accepted. It feels like we’ve got a good relationship. And anyway it’s not about the judges, it’s about the contestants.”
Dannii Minogue has made it quite clear that her favourite X Factor auditionee groups are the 14 o 24’s. Speaking in a recent interview, she said:
“The youngest kids are amazing. They are so talented and fearless. The ones I love most are the ones that are neither cocky nor scared to show their vulnerability. We have also seen some amazing groups. I personally hope we can find the next Spice Girls.”
Dannii also said: “When I was young someone saw potential in me and helped me to become a recording artist. I can see sparks of stardom in some of our auditionees and I can’t wait to give them some really practical advice. Most of our contestants have never performed in a studio in front of a live audience – and that can be very daunting.”
With the first X Factor 2007 show pulling in around 11.0 million viewers last week, it would seem like the nation is yet again intrigued to see whether another star can be plucked from the thousands upon thousands of auditionees. It is a tall order to find anyone who can match the talent of last year’s winner, Leona Lewis, and Simon may well be afraid of finding an act who matches up. Simon Cowell has already hinted that if this year’s show fails to find any real talent, then this may well be the last in the series:
Simon said: “If this series ended like Pop Idol 2, forget it. It would be a waste of time to come back. If the contestants are all rubbish at the end, then it’s pointless.”
