Eton Road Exit the X Factor

Eton Road leave the X FactorEton Road and Ben made up the bottom two tonight, which meant that Simon Cowell was given the deciding vote after both Louis and Sharon opted to save their own acts.

Ben had been hotly tipped for the final since the beginning of the competition, so it was something of a shock for him to be in the bottom two. Simon had the following to say:

“There is a sudden irony about this tonight after some of the things that were written this week. [...] As a mentor do I protect my artist against the biggest threat, or keep in the person who is most talented? [...] I’m afraid I’m going to have to send home Eton Road”.

  1. Well I was slightly out tonight. I reckoned on Ray going with Eton Rd being second from the bottom.

Looks as if Simon will get his wish of a Leona vis Ben final.

Currently I reckon the following will be next weeks result. It may change depending on their perormances next week

    1) Leona
    2) Ben
    3) Mcdonalds
    4) Ray

It’s a close call though between Ray & the McDonalds but on recent performances I give the McDonalds the edge

  2. Who is voting in these competitions ? It’s really much worse than last year. I could not believe that Ben was in the bottom two.

  6. Eaton Road sounded good tonight. Louis said he will look after them so they haven’t really lost have they.

I think that they will do well in the future and can see a record coming out this Christmas.

Ben always sounds the same to me and his ballad was awful. He sounds too course and loud. His foot stamping is irrating.

Will he sound good on an album? I think that Eaton Rd will be better on records tahn Ben.

    Love Anthony voice

  7. I had to agree with Simon – Louis choice of songs were deadly dull. Why couldn’t they have songs which showcased Anthony’s amazing high vocal range.

  8. Err… Eton Road were awful last week, awful this week. I’m so glad they were voted off. I don’t really mind who wins now. At least it can’t be them.. After they _____ Scissor Sisters last week, I can’t believe Louis thinks he can sell them. If he signs them on his label and they bring out records, what’s the point of them being on the show in the first place??

    Comment by Simon — Saturday, 25 November, 2006 @ 22:39

  9. Gutted!!! they did really well 2nite fault they were the best cant belive they went. but lets hope louis sticks to what he said!

  10. I can understand why the McDonalds stayed tonight. They have been improving week on week and have gone from dreadful to reasonable. Eaton Road on the other habnd have got worse. There performance tonight was far better then the last few weeks but they are really not that good and are not improving so on that basis it’s quite easy to see why the McDonalds are still there. The Scottish vote therory does not hold up there are only 6,000,000 in Scotland compared with 54 Million in the rest of the UK. I think it comes down to Eaton Road are not that good although I am sure they will have a large teen girl following.

  11. ER going is a shame. They were fun. I’m truly relieved however that Ben, having found himself in the ‘bottom two,’ was kept for the next week. (Barry Manilow!!!)

I confess I don’t get how he was in that position to begin with. Perhaps his supporters were complacent.

Sorry for all you ER fans. I know you are passionate about your boys. It was great to see Louis’ real support and commitment for his act. Good bloke.

  13. X Factor Is Riddled With Intrigue
    ———————————

People who place bets on the thing are affecting the outcomes.

Betting is bad for reality TV, as it is easy to rig a poll, when you bet on the eviction polls, to keep someone like the MacdyDs in the series.

If it is rigged, with thousands of fake votes put in by a team of professional gamblers, surely the bookies know.

Unless it is the bookies themselves that are rigging it.

I bet you wouldn’t have no-hopers remaining in week after week if gambling wasn’t permitted on the X Factor.

  14. Well next week could be interesting. This week it was a close battle for bottom place. Now that Eton Road have finally gone it will be interesting to see where their votes go. They tended to attract the teen girl vote so my guess is a lot of their votes will transfer to the McDonalds so providing they do not drift back to their old ways they should be safe next week. This leaves Ray very exposed at the bottom.
Leona I think has secured her place at the top. She turned out two stunning performances this week and they were not ballads. She said she was veratile and has proved she is. That will gain her votes. I suspect Ben’s fans will rally behind him but with the McDonalds having improved so dramatically & the probability they will pick up Eton Road votes he could be knocked into third place and there is even a remote chance he could come last

My current predictions for next week, may of course be revised on the night depending on the
    1) Leona
    2) Ben
    3) McDonalds
    4) Ray

  15. omg ! i cant beieve the mcdonalds got through again! they dont deserve to still be in the competition when so many other talented acts got kicked out instead of them. like ash , nikitta and eton road. but at least if they get in the bottem to they will be gone cause simon won’t save them. it should have been eton road and the mc d’s or ray and the mcd’s in the bottem two yesterday instead of ben.

    Comment by clare — Sunday, 26 November, 2006 @ 14:21

  16. The wrong thing is that Ray and/or the Mac Bro’s are going to be in the final 3 over some incredibly good acts. It was disgusting that Ben and Eton Road were in the bottom 2 last night, the voting public need to wake up.

    Comment by Al — Sunday, 26 November, 2006 @ 14:41

  17. I think Ben should make the final but I sense that he has an attitude problem and think that may have hindered him last night.

As he admitted on the Xtra factor he didn’t like the single that the winner will be releasing and threatened to walk out cos it was too ‘poppy.’ They agreed to rework his version as more of a rock song.

    2) Sharon did not want him to sing ‘Your Song’. He said it got the best reaction when he toured the clubs. He conceded after the show he was wrong and that Sharon knows more about music business than he gave her credit for.

I thought the MCDonalds were awful. 500 miles is such a great song it saved them but I thought their Ronan Keating song was appalling and their rendition of 500 miles was bearable but they have zilch charisma in performing such a wonderful song.

Ray’s first performance was very good but ever since Sharon called him panto boy, I say I have to agree.

Leona is SENSATIONAL. World class. She has that rare ability to connect emotionally with her audience and tell the story of a song.

But again, the MCDonalds have got a lot to answer for. Ray and McDougalls still in competition – Robert and Eton Rd gone.

    Who would have thought it?

  18. the mac brothers are the only ones in the competition who have been completely in tune throughout the entire show. they are good entertainers have nice voices and they work soo hard, i think its about time people showed them a little respect. it doesnt matter who wins really because there is no way on this earth that simon cowell will let someone as talented as leona slip through his fingers, same with everyone else who is still in the comp at this stage. they will all come out of with something. the only thing i wish is that ray would stop with his cheesy smile and stop thinking he is some kind of elvis cuz he aint

    Comment by lindsay — Sunday, 26 November, 2006 @ 20:53

  19. I think it would help Ray if he had an image makeover. His hair style is probably his worst problem. He seems to be a throwback to the days of Elvis. Now Elvis was a great entertainer and singer. He needs to project a more modern image and sing modern material as it is he comes across as a sort of Elvis Tribute Singer. He is not going to win the X Factor with that. I am not sure he can change and even if he can he has probably left it too late. The McDonalds have beaten him to it. Rays chances are fast slipping away. I think next week will be his last week.

  20. I think Eton Road done pretty well last week.I think they will be the next boy band, after westlife and I think people will suport them

  21. Acturally I hope the MacDonald Brothers or Ray win. They got good voice. If Ben or Leona win,I will kill myself.Seriously!Leona is just like the next Mariah Carey.Ewwwww,,Sucks!Stop voting them!Wake Up!!!I can’t believe Ben is still here.It is awful!

  22. For the 1st time Ray did not do a song and dance routine in his first song and it showed. He was out of tune and off key for much of the time showing that he cannot sing and is not fit to win X Factor. He is a good at what he does – imitating Elvis Presley – but beyond that he is a barely average cabaret act and is a one trick pony. He lacks the talent and versatility necessary to win. The only reason he is still there is that very young girls are taken in by his sixties hair style, cheesy smile and thrusting pelvis. He should have gone weeks ago.

    Comment by Dave S — Monday, 27 November, 2006 @ 11:48

  23. They were good for the first few weeks, then slipped away, they have gone down hill, and i think the boys realised that, but i do think that they will have a future singing career, as Louis sed it live on national t.v so they must be well chuffed.

I want Ray to win tho, he has a great smile, good entertainer, and very talented, and you need that in every single singer. The judges said that Saturday was his best vocal performance, and i think he really jus forced himself to do well, as he could see it being taken away from him.

By the way, he is not imitating Elvis Presley, that jus the type of music he likes. If you like Girls Aloud, you try and act like them but he dont it jus comes naturally. Carla xxxx

    Comment by Carla — Monday, 27 November, 2006 @ 12:48

  24. Ray is likeable enough but a good singer he is not.
Would he get in the charts ? I would say no. He would not sell records. Sure if he won he would get one hot record but that would be it.

I did think this competition was going to be a two horse final but Ben is loosing it. The only good singer left is Leona

  25. am so unset about the Eton Road being put ont i really think yous can go the hole way with out x factor becaues yous are so good and one of the best boybands i have ever heard in a long time will be wating for your cd to came out hope it dose. yous will all ways be the beat. xxxx nicolexxxxxx

  26. i cant belive eaton road are out!! and btw they went on the show to be discovered and now they have been and louis is going to help them sell records. but the only thing im worried about is if he tries to morph them into some gay little boyband like the rest of them.
and i dont like ben. he sounds the same every week and he is getting too cocky. there is a chance of him being in the final but leona will win hands down.
ray is just the cutest thing too!! i love him i want to go and give him a big hug haha!!

  30. i think on the final it was a vbit out of order cos the song they had to sing “a moment like this” was a pop song that leona could sing really well. If leona did a swing song i would like to see how well she could sing that.
