The Unconventionals Speak Out To X Factor

The Unconventionals X FactorWere The Unconventionals a little bit too Unconventional to get the audience votes in or did Louis make a mistake in choosing the song “Dancing In The Street” rather than something more acapella? This is what The Unconventionals had to say:

Liz, from The Unconventionals, “I think Simon hit it bang on the nail when he said that the song was a little bit busy. The fact is, we did try as a group with Drew fronting initially and us doing harmonies, then we decided if we did get to the live shows, we would allow others to break through and sing aswell, just to mix it up a bit and that’s what we did with the track. It was just a little bit too fast and I think the cameras had a problem following and it gave it a manic quality.”

When asked if they would do anything differently, Drew said “We would do the clothes differently. We’ve always been crappy dressers and I’m not knocking what we’re wearing, but I always had a vision of us wearing something more whacky but, you put your faith in the experts and this is what they went with, but it’s probably not something I would have gone for.”

Lucy said “We’ve had a great time and what we’ve experienced and learnt here, you could never get that anywhere else.”

  1. the unconventionals were the best! they could of won! they were my faveourite act and they always made me smile, the only reason they went out because louis let them all be lead singers. im really upset they went! i think they should try out again next year and sing “don’t stop me know” by queen

  2. The Unconventionals should not have gone out in the first week! What they have is different… but we need something different! Come on record company guys pick them up! The brothers from Scotland should have gone out instead. They were unoriginal and pretty bland and boring. So whoever has the money and the time… bring back the Unconventionals!

  3. I loved The Unconventionals they had real talent. The X-Factor got rid of the best first so now It’s not even worth watching.

p.s. The Unconventionals should release an album and if not a single

  8. Having only just watched that episode I’m rather disappointed as well, particulary as I rather liked their act that night. I know it was a bit all over the place but overall it sounded good and they all put it a good performance, unlike the Scottish pair who I would have sent home if I’d have the choice.
I’m hoping that the experience and the fact that they got onto the live show will mean that they are able to get more work in the music industry- that seems to have been the case with a lot of the other acts from the last series who didn’t quite manage to get to the finals.

  9. Come on ITV I don’t care what you think about The Unconventionals because they are great. So get them back for an interview at least or get them to preform i would give anything to see them one last time even if it were live!!!

  11. I loved it when they sang, it gave me hope again of starting a music career but with a new bollywood style. Bollywood really fascinates me. Thank you unconventionals for inspiring me to let my vocal chords have a good old twang again.
    God bless x
