The city of Manchester’s Arndale Centre played host to the home-coming gig of X Factor 2005’s winner Shayne Ward yesterday. Hundreds of excited fans clutching copies of “That’s My Goal” queued to get a glimpse of the Clayton-born singing sensation in the hope of hearing him sing and and also to be among the first fans to get their copy of the single signed by Shayne himself.
Shayne certainly didn’t disappoint any of his fans as he sang “That’s My Goal” twice for the screaming crowd and then proceeded to sign copies of his CD as he chatted away. The debut single has already become the fastest selling single download in the UK.
Shayne, who worked in the arndale as a shop assistant just a few months ago was clearly delighted with the warm reception he received from delighted fans, saying that he was nervous because he didn’t know how many people would be there but that he was happy to get the reception he did. Shayne said “it’s really overwhelming, I wasn’t expecting it.”
